Well, I don't know about words of wisdom.  But I will say this has been a gorgeous day here in Louisville!  We got up to 70 degrees this afternoon.  Beautiful sunshine, and a nice, warm breeze.  Took a walk this afternoon, for about 2 and 1/2 hours.

Produce went well this morning, although it was pretty darn chilly, at 8 a.m.!  Think it got down to 28 degrees this morning.

Our Tuesday Mexican Fiesta is now on the warmer bar.  Anything and everything Mexican, you'll find on the bar tonight.

I sure will be glad when we get out desktop back.  I don't mind using Sarah's laptop, but it isn't accessible to me first thing in the morning.  Everyone have a good evening, take care, and see you sometime tomorrow.

Cannoball, I remember the Toonerville Trolley and Smoky Stover as well; as a matter of fact, there's a small park in Louisville dedicated to the Toonerville Trolley and TARC's trolleys (rubber tired) are oft called Toonerville Trolleys.

Justin, if you haven't, check out the web site for the Virginia Museum of Transportation that's in Roanoke, and the N & W Historical Society for more info on 611.

We're still working off a borrowed computer so we don't have the same "Time  Lines" that we normally do, CW should be in shortly with her words of wisdom.

Afternoon all!

What a beautiful day here in the heartland of America! I'm sure the train crew have the doors and windows open in the cab today! Currently 60* and sunny here.

Looks like the next thing were doing in English 10 is a report. I'm doing to do my report on Norfolk & Westerns' Class J #611.Hope I can find some good information. Do any of you all know where I may be able to find some good stuff?

Have a good day all!

Good Morning Railfans!

Well, it should get up near 70F today and then 35F with snow on Wednesday; good old Colorado weather!  Have not had a chance to read all the posts here in the diner over the last few days but I hope all that had family in harms way of the nasty storms are all OK.

.....A cool morning here in central Indiana.  But, today...we're to be somewhat warmer.  Noted a weather person on the TV channel this morning noting, this might be the last really cool / cold weather we see in the eastern part of the country until next Fall.

Seems {according to them}, that is the weather pattern on the way.

Seems a bit strange, but that's what they were saying.

Sunshine shining bright here this morning, right in my eastern office window here...

Both Jean and I have appointments at our dentist this morning....so in about an hour we head in that direction....Just 5 min. away.

Robins have been in our area now for about 2 weeks.

If this continues....I will be mowing lawn yet this month.

March can throw all kinds of weather at us....the transition month, but based on Winter's performance so far, perhaps "mild" is the right {hopeful}, word.

Trivia:  About a week or 10 days ago I saw or heard on a program, gas prices would hit 4 dollars a gal by Memorial Day....What a joke...!

Gas prices are now 4 dollars for un. reg. and 4.20 pre.  I have one vehicle for each price range.

Speculators, and who else, will be raking it in from us once again.

Guess I better stop for now.....Just my My 2 Cents

Monday morning showed we received a very slight dusting {skiff}, of snow overnight.  Temps about 30 earlier.  Snow has disappeared already.

On and off sunshine this morning.  This will be a cool day with a high in the 30's.  But tomorrow, is to be a big warmup.

Trivia:  Upon turning to page 84 in our April Trains mag., and looking at the top of the page....and seeing the photo of an "inspection locomotive".....I couldn't help but {right away}, think..."that's the Toonerville Trolley".....Did anyone else notice the very similarity.....

That's the closest {real piece of equipment}, I've ever seen to so closely be a look a like.  All it needs is a trolley wire and pole....

This goes back a ways.....so younger posters probably have no idea what I'm referring to.

That was a bit scary of what you related on your recent post.  We'll send along our best wishes for a complete recovery and now having a new knee to use as well.

Since leftovers are my specialty - I can't imagine how I missed those!

Joe - spring is hurrying right along.  We had a lot of greenies springing up yesterday - both in and outbound.  Every coal train seemed to have one somewhere in use.

We had snow awhile back, then rain and now the blow dryer is on full blast.  40-50 mph winds these past few days.  Sunshine like mad!  When wind stops for the night, my scanner picks up lots of fall calls for the fire dept medics.

Life goes on.

.....Perhaps that is a blessing Walt.

If the child was in terrible condition and all of the family gone.....So sad.

Seems some places of this storm was more than extreme.  Generally one can survive by finding a strong location in one's own home where it's a bathroom or closet...someplace with walls close together and not on an outside wall.  But some of these sites....nothing remaining but the concrete slab....!

.......A skiff of snow overnight.  A few off and on snow flakes now, and 30 degrees.

Continue to see updates on the massive destruction in southern Indiana this morning.  Terrible loss of life.  Some of the systems were upgraded in velocity, from evidence seen in the type of damage.

Just watched a report where that young child was blown 10 miles by the storm, and found in a field alive, but critical...!!!  Remaining people of her / his family killed.....So terrible.

Eveyone try to offer Prayers for all the families effected at church this morning.

Quentin, according to my home page, that young child has now died. She was flown here to Louisville's Kosair Children's Hospital and was up until a few hours ago listed in critical condition.

Sorry about getting back in here so late; but, we seem to have acquired another virus on our desktop.  So had to wait until we could get Sarah's laptop.  Guess we'll have to take the puter to the experts come Monday morning.

But our Pizza Fest  menu is now on the warmer bar.

Everyone take care, and we'll see you all whenever we can.

Angel to all involved there...

Here we had steady winds of 50mph with gusts up to 80mph recorded..we had a big maple tree come down on our front lawn...missed our house by about 5 feet...we also had some steel awning from who knows where land on a car that was parked on the road down the street a bit...shingles flying..oh joy...Hmm

....Not sure of total fatilities in southern Indiana, but it was way too many....Believe the last figure I heard is 13.

Devastation with property damage.  Henryville, about 35 or so miles north of Louisville.  Believe that area suffered massive fatilities / damage.

We got by without any damage here in the Muncie area.  Had several "red cells" {within the storm line}, that produced rain so hard one could not see across the golf course fairway.....Several passed thru like that, and one with a supply of hail.  That's always an attention getter for me.....knowing that condition often accompanies a nearby tornado.  We had wind, but I don't know what the gusts might have been.  Must get a long wanted electonic wind gauge.  Just have put it off and have not done so....

We include our thoughts in our nightly prayers for the many family losses yesterday.

Good morning and peace be with you. Currently 65 and cloudy, headed for 68 and off/on rain thru tomorrow. That big storm front has been a big bust so far. Very little rain, no thunder at all and no warnings or watches. We need the rain badly!

Thanks for breakfast. I hope all is well in the midwest and everything is still intact. You folks have been in my thoughts all night long...

Take care and see yall later

Good Saturday morning everyone.  Cloudy, breezy and 35 degrees here in Louisville right now. Supposed to get to 49 degrees for a high this afternoon.

Larry, I've been looking at some pictures on the internet this morning, of some of the destruction yesterday:  ranging from Alabama, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky and elsewhere.  There are about 82 pictures, and I've seen 31 of them so far.  Definitely remembering all these people in my thoughts and prayers.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  And our Saturday morning brunch is ready and on the warmer bar.

Everyone, have a good morning, take care, please, and see you all this evening.

Upwards of 60 twisters last time I heard, over two dozen deaths.  Neither is a record as far as I know, but it's nothing to ignore, either.

Milton VFD in KY lost their Station 2 to a direct hit by a twister, as reported by the firefighter who weathered the storm in the station.  About all that was left was the area he was in.  Color him lucky...

Headed out to take more paint off a locomotive tomorrow.

We had more snow last night, and during the night and into the morning, many people had, not only their ditchfinders on, but also their carfinders. The highway patrol was quite busy. This afternoon, as I was on my way to see Ricki, I was slowed considerably by the result of one car's brushing another on dry pavement on the approach to a curve (that's what it looked like to me when I at last reached the culprit and victim.

One area in the valley, close to the benches, received a foot of snow (this may have been the sum  of Wednesday night's and last night's precipitation.)

Everyone please take care. Assuming you still have power and an internet connection to read this.

I almost feel guilty saying that it is 34° here now, after a very nice few days. They say that we have just had the eighth warmest winter in Calgary since record keeping began in 1875.

Well, doctor visit went all right:  the abdominal aortic ultrasound showed no problems.  But, my little toe is staying discolored, so I go back next Thursday for another test.  Doctor feels that something must be clogged somewhere, for that one toe to stay discolored.  Hope we find out something from this next test.

As for the storms this afternoon:  had tornado warnings where my brother lives down in Bullitt County.  Haven't been able to get hold of anyone, to find out if they're all o.k.  Did try to call, but phone just rang and rang, so guess his wife and grandkids they have custody of were out and down in the storm cellar.  Winds are still blowing really strong, hear them gusting at times.  At least the weather sirens have quit blaring.  And there has been 1 death confirmed from the tornado that hit Henryville, IN.  Tore the roof off the middle/high school, but fortunately, all the kiddos got out safely.  That's about all I know right now.

Our Friday Fish Fry is on the warmer bar, with the regular fish, sides and dessert menu.

Everyone take care, have a good evening, and see you all in the morning.

....This is strange stuff.  Right now, we have a sky that looks like a nice Summer day.  Puffy light clouds.  {out my east window}, what's coming in the west I can't see from here.  And it's warm.

Generally, we're on the northern fringe of it.  We've had several {3 or 4}, blasts of extremely heavy 5 min. rains and one of them with hail to the extent, there was white ground out on the golf course greens.  And where our spoutings exit down at the ground....A big space of white very hard rain washed off the roof.

We're not out of the woods yet, to continue under the threat until in the evening.  They were talking of possible 60 to 80 mph winds here, but have not seen anything like that yet.

So....so far, so good.  Hope everyone escapes  without injury and property damage.

Have been listening / watching the Louisville reports Walt....Looks like lots of red and purple in the area as this unfolds.

Hang on, it's gonna be a wild ride today!!!

Back at the house, where it's snowing at over an inch an hour now, supposed to get about 7-8 inches of wet snow.  Heard a crack of thunder earlier, so it's really coming down.....

Recovering from work today, plan for weekend is to start work on some trim in our living room and hallway, and work on a small layout.  My sister opened her mouth and said it would be nice to have a train running around the christmas tree, so I found a plan that worked and got all the material ready last time I was home.  Hopefully, should be able to run a train before I leave Tuesday....

Stay safe, everyone....
