Mookie

Mr. Lion - I casually watch the used cars for sale on my bank website.  Most of them have just about that much mileage and they want at least one arm and a few fingers for them.

It was a 1995 Dodge Intrepid ES.  The AC electronic sensor started to fail awhile back so when you needed AC the most it would not turn on.  Then the Driver side Bucket Seat broke and I had a brace holding it up so I could drive from the front rather then the back.  The final kicker was the engine gasket failed and Preston went into the engine with unknown damage to the internals.  All repairable but at a cost way above it's worth and with our age/health it was getting tough to get in/out of with it's low profile.  Plates, Emissions and Insurance were all do in January which meant it had to be operational so junking it made since before putting another dime in it.

Sadly it was time to go to the scrap yard...

We've succeeded in having a great afternoon meal as mentioned earlier we would do for our celebration today.

Ruby Tuesday was the place...{an excellent one here in Muncie}.  And the food was very good.

Jean had The Dockside Trio:  Salmon...Tilapia....and Shrimp and the sides and trimmings

I went for the excellent Rainbow Trout  with Almonds and special butter flavor, and the excellent salad bar...

So we were successful in that endeavor.

And a special thanks to all, for the nice words, re: Anniversary.

We actually started a bit late, but no problem.  Seemed to work ok.

Quentin and Jean, Happy Anniversary!!  You both are blessed to have had 53 years of marriage:  may you have many more to come.

Produce went well this morning.  Even though it was a little warmer out this morning, we went inside.  And stayed in for the Bread/Pastry truck.  On the truck today:  cabbage (really big heads again), peach yogurt, mustard greens, onions, potatoes and cucumbers.

Our meal for the rest of the afternoon/evening:  Mexican Fiesta:

Tacos (hard shell and soft shell), burritos (beef, beef n bean, enchilada style),

Cheesy quesadillas

Cheese beef nachos

Chipotle tomato soup

Gazpacho w/shrimp

Fajitas

South of the border Snapper

Enchiladas

Chimichangas

Getting a few sprinkles of rain every so often, not enough to wet the streets, which is a good thing.  Everyone have a good afternoon, take care, and I'll try to get back in later.

....Thank you Paula for the kind words.  By coincidence, we two were united in mariage today, 53 years ago, in Winchester, Va.

We'll go and have a good meal {Jean's choice}, today, and that is at Ruby Tuesday.   She will be having their excellent Salmon...Me, I'll have to find something that sounds good when I get there.  They have the best salad bar of any establishment in Muncie.

We have a bit warmer morning.  Was 33 when I first checked earlier this morning.  So far, being lucky with min. of snow...1.5" so far this season.

And we thank others for their Avatar comments too....

That photo was one we had taken at a local photogapher and it included our little "doxie" pup setting on my lap too...I cropped it on here after scanning the original to the computer.  I was amazed how close and sharp it compared to the original from the professonal photographer.

What does/did a lion drive?  Might be something of verbal interest to Quentin.  Or might just make a good-sized planter for the diner yard.  CW & I could sit in it and honk the horn!  Mischief

Good Tuesday morning everyone.  41 degrees this morning, going for a high in the mid to upper 50s later on this afternoon.  Supposed to get up into the 60s tomorrow.

Quentin, I want to tell you I really like your new avatar.  That is a really nice picture of you and Jean.  You 2 make a very lovely couple.

Coffee is on and ready to go, along with juices, and other morning beverages.  On the warmer/serving bar this morning:  bacon, eggs, toast and cereal.

As Walt said, the Christmas tree looks very good in the tree stand.  Now, this afternoon, it'll be fun, fun, fun decorating it.  It is a beautiful Frazier Fir.  I took a couple of pictures of it, when they brought it into the house, and Walt took a picture, after it was up.

Everyone have a very good morning, take care, and I'll see you all this afternoon, after Tuesday Produce.

See some footprints going thru the diner.  Looks like people are out shopping and then dining.

Enjoy your nice weather cuz if you are east of here, you will be getting moisture.  Has been cloudy all day and 40 or thereabouts, but the 4 corners is cranking up some precip and it will be here tomorrow some time and maybe Wed.  Will send it on as usual.

Happy Birthday Randy.  I keep forgetting we are both December birthdays.  You know the feeling I am sure - here is your birthday and Xmas present all in one.

No Fair....

Houston Ed has almost the same problem - lots of people get very wobbly on his bd and then make a whole lot of noise!

And - on a railroad note - saw a whole train of spine cars with hollow tubes on them - 3 sizes, so they will telescope into each other.  Heading east and bet they will be part of a wind farm somewhere.  Pretty exciting, since we only usually see coal, coal and more coal or empty, empty, empty....

Good Evening. I think I will go with the Grilled Chicken today.

15°F now and partly cloudy. We had what the weather office calls "light snow" every hour for about a day and a half, over Saturday and Sunday, and it has added up. I haven't seen an actual amount but it is covering everything pretty well.

I was out visiting over the weekend, and today has been very busy. I swear everyone on my e-mail contact list has has written me with unrelated questions that need answers. I'm done with that now, so I am going to relax and enjoy my supper.Dinner

No new local RR news.

Whew!  It has been a very busy day, here at home.  Getting everything arranged to bring in the Christmas tree.  It will be brought in after Sarah gets back home from a fire run.  Then I guess we'll start decorating it tomorrow afternoon/evening.

For supper tonight:

1.  Sloppy Joes w/fries &  garden salad

2.  Grilled chicken w/your choice of fries or mashed taters, milk gravy, corn, peas & carrots,  broccoli spears w/cheese sauce

The last I heard, our temp made it up to 52 degrees this afternoon:  that was at 4:10 this afternoon.  Everyone have a good evening, take care, and see you all in the morning.

Good Afternoon fellow Railfans,

Sorry I missed breakfast, W**K got in the way this morning so I didn't have a chance until now to make my morning rounds and stop in for coffee.  Over the weekend I finally got all my old Camcorder video tapes uploaded to the PC taking up nearly 1TB (996GB) of disk.  Now to get a backup copy to another drive for safe keeping.

Good Monday morning.  26 degrees here in Louisville this morning.  Good thing is, hardly any breeze/wind blowing this morning.  Supposed to get up to 50 or 51 this afternoon.  Looks like Walt and Sarah will have nice weather this afternoon, to go Christmas Tree shopping.  Yep, we're going to have  live tree this year.

Also want to say Happy Birthday to our very own Randy Voss!!  Randy, if you drop by and see this:  Happy Birthday, and may you have many, many more!  Happy B-Day Happy B-Day Happy B-Day Happy B-Day

Everyone have a very good morning, take care and I'll see you all later on.

Mookie, no, there didn't seem to be a breakage of the blood vessels in my eyes.  According to the CT scan(the dr. showed me the results), it only shows that I have had 2 strokes.  Did not elaborate as to when I had them.

Joe, you're very welcome.  And if I didn't say anything earlier, thank you for your Christmas card.  It was the first one we received.  Think we've gotten about 4 or 5 more.

We seem to have 'warmed' up a bit, with the outside temp:  Walt fired up the grill, so we have, for Sunday Dinner:

Steaks, pork chops, burgers, brats, hot dogs, grilled 'baked' taters, corn on the cob, slaw, tater salad (German & mustard), baked beans, garden salad and macaroni & cheese.

Everyone have a good afternoon, and if I don't make it back in here, take care and I'll see you all in the morning.

Good Sunday morning everyone.  Hope all of you had a very good night.  It's very cold here, with a temp of 21 degrees here in Louisville this morning.  But, we're supposed to get to a high of about 47 degrees this afternoon.

Larry, hope the investigation conclusion is favorable for your tourist railroad.

Coffee is fresh and ready to go, along with the juices, hot chocolate, and other morning beverages.  There's also plenty of hot water for our hot tea drinkers.  On the warmer/serving bar this morning:  bacon, sausage, eggs, pancakes and waffles.

I don't think I told you all about my visit with the ophthalmologist Thursday:  I did have a major stroke; but it only affected my vision.  Have lost a quarter of my vision, in each eye.  That is gone, and there is no way to get it back.  Guess we'll know more, when I go back to her in June.

Can't think of anything other news this morning, whether good or bad.  Everyone have a good morning, take care going to Church, work, or going out for a morning of rail fanning.  See you all later this afternoon.
