Good Thursday morning everyone.  Raining here in Louisville this morning, with a temp in the upper 50s.  Supposed to get up to about 63 degrees today.

Walt (Mutt) and I finally got the decorations out, went through the boxes, put some  into newer boxes, and discarded some old, old decorations that have seen better days.  Have the lights on the tree, but that's about it, so far.  The garland and then the ornaments will go on sometime today.  Sorry about not making it back in here yesterday.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Breakfast is on the warmer/serving bar.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.

Good Morning fellow Railfans!

It's a sunny cool morning in the Mile High City!  In a much better mood today so the coffee is on me!

Still working on getting my Trip Video library backed up to a secondary disk(s).  If I recall I was doing a Railfan Trip report that I need to get back too.  I think I was doing something on the Georgetown Loop and was about to work on it's video section when I found it's video was not yet on the computer to process.

Our morning was treated to a variety of weather.  Dark clouds.....Sunshine....rain....blustery winds.....and mild temps.

Mid to upper 50's now, and warm winds.

Unusual for this time of the year.

Good afternoon all.  Been busy in the kitchen all afternoon, baking.  Did Walt's Mincemeat Bars.  Guess I'll start on the Christmas cookies for us to have here at home, tomorrow.  Time seems to be getting away from me.

The menu for this afternoon/evening:

1.  Open-face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters and beef gravy, corn, broccoli w/butter sauce, garden salad and homemade dinner rolls.

2.  Steaks w/steak fries, broccoli w/butter sauce, corn, and garden salad.

Believe our temp made it to 64 degrees, with a very nice, warm breeze.  Current temp is 63 degrees.

Everyone have a good evening, take care, and see you all later.

Weather behaving a bit different now....Haven't even bothered to check on what's in the pipeline for us weatherwise...

It's "cooling" back down now...It's 39 degrees as we type.  Still blustry winds....Not raining.

Wind has been the most of it today....plus unseasonably warm.

Good Friday morning everyone.  One question this morning:  Who left the door open, to bring in this cold air??  Our current temp is about 35, 36 degrees, but with the breeze, it sure does feel cooler than that.  Believe I heard our high today would be 39, 40 degrees.  So it's not going to 'warm' up too much.

Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Doughnuts, danish, bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits & gravy are on the warmer/serving bar.

Guess I'll finish baking the rest of the mincemeat bars today, and then get started on the sugar cookies, which will be cut in the shape of ornaments, wreaths, Santa, holly sprigs, reindeer, angel, sleigh, etc.

Everyone have a good morning, take care, and I'll see you all later, as I'll definitely be back to get our Friday Fish Fry ready.

......Just a little trivia in remembering:......How about  Eddie Rickenbacker and a few crew members being stranded on a lifeboat....Was it 21 days, in WWII.  And desperate for food, one day a sea bird of some kind, landed on one person's head, and he reached up and captured it....Food for the desperate.

Am I remembering correctly...?   Anyone....They were eventually rescued...!

Muncie has bright, white sky and 31 degrees earlier this morning.

It's dry.  Grass is still nice and green.  If it woudn't be so fresh in temp out there, I'd do one more mowing / mulching across the lawn to get those scattering of leaves the wind brought me at no cost.

I even had someone's big Christmas Bow laying in the yard from the wind these past several days, and of course this item from overnight.

Wind is almost calm this morning.  Finally.

But, guess we'll not do so, and let them rot and turn into fertilizer by next Spring....There is not many anyways...Just don't like to look at them.

Yes, Tom, after you mentioned him, I remembered Eddie Ricketyback (and I thought of a few other characters named after real people who peopled "Li'l Abner").

I remembered that Eddie Rickenbacker was shot down and he and his crew survivied many days in a life raft, but I did not remember any detail.

I was sorry that his airline went bankrupt; My first commercial flight was via Eastern from Philadelphia to Atlanta when I had to pause while on vacation to conduct a funeral in Reform, Alabama (Southern Airline took me to Tuscaloosa). (I missed riding a couple of trains that I had wanted to ride, but was able to be back on schedule to visit one of my brothers.)

My only other trip on Eastern was from Salt Lake to Greensboro and back (funeral of a brother). I left here early the day after Labor Day (I made the reservation, by telephone, on Labor Day), and had to buy the ticket that morning. The agent at the airport was unable to raise any credit card company by telephone to confirm that my credit was good--and he decided to risk selling me the ticket anyway (Isn't it wonderful that credit can now be checked quickly?).

Well, I finally got the rest of Walt's mincemeat bars baked.  And in just a little bit, I'll start on our Christmas cookies.  After I get them baked, I'll make up some frosting to go on them.  Also need check and make sure I've got food coloring, otherwise, the frosting will just be white. Meanwhile:  time for our Friday Fish Fry:

FISH:  Bass, Catfish, cod, flounder, haddock, halibut, Perch, Salmon patties and croguets, Shrimp (butterfly and popcorn) and Tilapia.

SIDE DISHES:  Baked beans, corn on the cob, mac & cheese, deep fried breaded mushrooms, fries (reg. & curly), slaw and baked cornbread.

DESSERTS:  Cakes:  chocolate, yellow w/caramel icing; Pies:  apple, blueberry, blackberry and pecan; Cobblers:  peach and strawberry/rhubard.

Our current temp is about 37 degrees, supposed to make it to about 43 or so, from what I heard on the noon news/weather report.  Sarah is getting ready to go to work, Walt has gone to the library to return the books he and I have finished reading, and to get some more books for himself to read, and, of course, I'll be heading back into the kitchen, to start the Christmas cookie baking.  Everyone have a good afternoon, take care and see you all later.

Good morning Joe and everyone.  Yep, I'm in early this morning.  Have to be over at St. George's this morning, to help give out the holiday baskets.  Then, someone else is to relieve me around 12, 12:30 this afternoon.

Joe, my first sheet of cookies yesterday didn't turn out so well.  Set the timer for the exact time (and the oven wasn't that hot), but the cookies almost burned.  They're definitely very brown on top, and hard as rocks.  Will try again later today, after I get through at the Community Center.

Everyone take care, have a good day, and I'll see you all this evening for our pizza fest.

Well, handing out the Holiday/Christmas boxes went well today.  Handed out 82 boxes.  Everyone had their choice of ham, turkey or turkey roast, depending on the size of the family.  I got a turkey for the three of us.  Got back home about 12:35, and was ready for a nap:  more than ready, as I was up at 4:50 this morning, because I had to give Wake Up calls to a couple of the guys, who were setting up the tables, and carrying out the boxes from the Church into the gym.

Here is our Saturday Night Pizza menu for tonight:

01.  Anchovie

02.  Canadian bacon

03.  Cheese

04.  Chicago style

05.  Goetta

06.  Ham & green pepper

07.  Hawaiian

08.  Italian sausage

09.  Pepperoni/mushroom

10.  Supreme

Dessert Pizzas:

01.  Apple

02.  Blueberry

03.  Cherry

04.  Peach

05.  Strawberry

Hope you all have had a very good day.  Take care, and see you tomorrow.

Good Sunday morning everyone.  29 degrees here in Louisville this morning.  Can't remember what our high is to be today, but I think in the mid to upper 40s.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the warmer/serving bar this morning:  bacon, sausage, eggs.  There's also cold pizza from last night.

Everyone have a good morning, take care going to Church, work, rail fanning, Christmas shopping, or whatever you have to do this morning.

...Our day is to be sunny.  That's a good thing.  Temp this morning, was low 30's when I first checked.  But, generally this is to be an exceptional nice day, for this time in the season.

They say warmer this coming week.  Hate to even mention the lack of snow.  And seemingly, {to me}, for the past half dozen years, December has had some real cold spots, but so far....we've avoided it.

Dry day.....So, it's drive the car to church.  Let the truck rest....But we'll use it to head out for our Sunday meal...Today, probably at Texas Road House.  This is a pretty good one here in Muncie.

One more thing, I noted yesterday...the setting time for sunset raised one minute...I grasp onto each bit of info moving forward thru "Winter"...That means we'll be seeing daylight last longer {in the evening}, this way forward to the peek of Summer. {By the calendar}.

Morning all.....

Belated thanks for all the birthday wishes, wound up spending it waiting for loads, but that's what happens when you get forty-some trucks in the same location.  Got rolling again in the afternoon, and really haven't stopped till today.  After I get this load to Beaver Dam, WI, tomorrow, should have about 3200 miles this week, so I can at least pay the bills again.....

Had a suicide by train yesterday morning back home, somebody walking down the tracks as a northbound rolled through, from what mom was saying, very messy.  Talked to a friend I know who works that line, was not him, gave him my condolences to pass along to his co-workers......

See everyone later.....

Good Monday morning everyone.  Hope everyone had a good weekend.  Now, we're really on the countdown to Christmas.  Waking up to a temp in the mid to upper 40s, high is supposed to be in the low 50s, probably around 52, 53 degrees this afternoon.  Rain will be coming in sometime this evening or overnight.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  A breakfast of bacon, sausage, eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits & sausage gravy, bagels and bear claws are waiting for you on the warmer/serving bar.

For the past two mornings, I've had to keep jiggling the on/off switch on my coffeemaker, to get it to come on.  Going to have to say something to Handyman Mutt, since I'm the only one in the house who is drinking coffee, I keep forgetting to say something to him.

Anyway, you all have a good morning, take care, and see you all later.

We have a coffee maker but hardly ever use it. I am not a coffee person, and the wife only rarely drinks the stuff. You could use ours if you were closer.

Good Morning fellow RailFans!

It's 29F with 1-3" in the forecast today.  Picked up a 2TB External Drive over the weekend and started compressing all the AVI files I generated from my old Video Tapes and putting a copy of them on there.  Should have all 996 GB of files copied over to it by Tuesday night.  With that project nearly wrapped up I got my Georgetown Loop Trip Report going again yesterday.

Mookie, I went back to bed this morning, and when I re-awoke, Walt had already read my post from this morning.  So I couldn't jiggle his on/off switch.Smile, Wink & Grin  But we have decided, that with my jiggling the switch each morning, I should be able to make the coffee maker last another week and a half.  Although, if it doesn't hold out, guess I'll have to dig out my jar of instant coffee (of which I'm not a fan for drinking all the time).

For the rest of the day, here is our menu:

1.  Hot open face roast beef sandwiches w/mashed taters, beef gravy, green beans, corn, and your choice of slaw or garden salad and hot biscuits.

2.  Leftover pizzas from Saturday night

3.  Cream of broccoli soup w/grilled cheese or PB&J sandwiches

Everyone enjoy your afternoon, take care and see y'all later.
