I'm just going to poke my head in quickly and let Quentin know that there is a big new order from CP for work to be done at the EMD plant in Muncie. See the thread "Big Canadian Pacific EMD ECO Order".

36° with a NW 19 mph wind now, with increasing winds and snow flurries expected later.

I'll try to drop back in for pizza later.

.....Thanks Bruce.....I'm right here and did not know anything about that....Zip, zero.

Will keep my ears up.  I'll check out the thread you mention.

Edit:   Read other post, and sounds good for our new Muncie plant operation.

Sir C - We are supposed to have really cold temps for the next two weeks, so Lurch and Gus' rock may have to wait awhile.

I don't think we are going to get more than a couple of inches, but with the cold, that will confine us here until about Thursday.

Actually our moisture came from the 4 corners and then turned solid when it got over the KS/NE boarder.  Lots of things do that - not just precip.

I didn't get the insulated bloomers, but I did get a heater for my "office".  Cooks the whole upstairs in an evening.  Thumbs Up

Hello from Lincoln NE where tonite and tomorrow we are going to get it from you!  Please come and take it back!

Mooks - Gonna take our snow north up the road and double his fun - hope he has the front door openMischief. Being we helped Centennial become a town and out of the clutches of the evil Greenwood Village cherrypickers, shouldn't have much trouble finding him...Mua-ha-ha

Snow is keeping Gus' rock from being placed in the fieldstone walls and Lurch from being made whole.

Have two furburners ('da Boys, aka 'da Bark Brothers) that want a walk in this stuff. Waiting for it to stop. (4" of powder so far). Hope Mooks got a new pair of insulated bloomers from Driver - she's gonna need 'em!. Single didits here on Monday.

Thank you Cannonball.  A hug is always welcome!

You must live just outside my office window.  It is about 35 with rain overnite and now snow, so we have a real skating rink on our parking slab.  The garbage can is just about 3 slips and a good slide from our back door.

Ah, winter has arrived!  Sigh

Good Saturday morning everyone.  A nice, pleasant morning here in Louisville, with a current temp of 40 degrees.  Supposed to get up to 60 degrees this afternoon.  That is my kind of weather, to be going Christmas shopping.  Don't have to worry about falling on slick roads, parking lots, sidewalks.  Smile, Wink & Grin

Our Saturday morning brunch is just about ready and things are going on the warmer/serving bar:  bacon, sausage, pancakes, scrambled eggs, grits, cream of wheat, fried taters and hash brown taters, toast, made from scratch buttermilk biscuits and sausage gravy, kiwi, papaya, pineapple slices or cubes, blueberry muffins, chocolate chip muffins, bagels and bear claws.

Going to be heading out to do some Christmas shopping, in a few hours.  Everyone have a good morning, take care and be safe with whatever you have to do today.  See you all this evening for our pizza fest.

Clemson's coach stirred the pot some more today with more inanities. He should be concentrating more on this weekends ACC championship instead of attacking Steve Spurrier and being a poor loser.

One thing that troubles me about Clemson is that for them, the rivalry is 365/24/7 and is often tasteless and insulting. Carolina does not reply in kind, which is not to say they do not get excited at times. Spurrier said today that he thinks about Clemson one week a year and then forgets about them till next time.

Johnny, one correction: In 1862, the ENTIRE student body at Carolina joined the Army of the Confederacy en mass, shutting down the school for the DOW

LOL!!!!!!!

Yea, they due tend to head NE up the I-76 route right at you don't they.  Hate to tell you, they are talking about more snow this weekend and we badly needed the moisture here in town as I was just about the drag the hoses out in December to water the trees. EEK!

Hope to get the rest of my outside holiday lights up this weekend as well as finish the inside decorations; including a HO train running around the tree this year!

Good morning and peace be with you. 34 and sunny in Carolina, Up from 28 earlier.

Clemson's head coach threw a tasteless tantrum against Carolina yesterday. He acted like a spoiled child who lost his crayons, crying that Clemson is the only university of SC and always has been. He seems to have forgotten that the University that isn't thoroughly stomped his team last weekend. I hope someone changes his diapers for him. Intersting to see how this works out.

Everyone take care and stay warm

Tom, that coach needs to learn a little history. South Carolina's A&M college did not come into existence until 1889. The College of South Carolina came into existence in the early 19th century,  died in 1862 for lack of students (all young males eighteen and over were subject to conscription; most volunteered rather than wait to be conscripted) and came back into life as the University of South Carolina soon after the War. On what does this man base his statement that there is only one university in the state?

I, personally, have never had a good opinion of Clemson even though our school superintendant the last five years (grades 8-12) of my high school education was a graduate of Clemson and an elder in our church. His older son had begun his college at Clemson, but transferred to Presbyterian College, and his younger son also went to PC.

Joe/CW - if you knew how much I hate my birthdays, you would know that if you keep mentioning it, I will wet on your parade!  Storm

Just leave some milk and dark chocolate cake with raspberry filling on the counter (don't even need frosting, since I will probably scrape it off.  Make it 2% milk.  I am counting calories.Kisses

I am pretty laid back when it comes to all holidays and celebrations.  Some people get very tight jawed if they can't celebrate Xmas and Txgvg on the exact day.  Why can't you do it on another day?  Is a holiday on any other day so different?  (Other than maybe July 4th).

How about we just have hug day that day.  Cyber group hug.  That would be nice.

Temp very similar to others on here this morning.  34 earlier.  Mostly sunny now.  Should be all day.  Don't know how "warm" we're to be this afternoon....No heat wave, for sure.  Perhaps around 40.

Joe

Joe, it's much better to learn that you need a new battery before you start your trip, isn't it? Four years ago this summer, we planned a trip to Jackson, Wy., to spend a week there. The day before we left, I went down to where I had worked to visit some of the people with whom I had worked, and stopped at a store on my way home When I came out of the store, the car would not start--because the battery was kaput. Now, if I had not made that visit, the battery would have died at a stop in Wyoming, and help via AAA could well have taken much longer.

Except for the wind, it has not been really bad here today, despite the cold. The east side of the valley, especially farther north of here, did suffer, particularly in Davis county, which had winds of up to 102 mph--huge trees toppled, 18 wheelers blown onto their sides, much loss of electric power.

Daughter who lives on the east side of the valley (almost due east of us) lost her power this morning, and it was still out at about 4:00 this afternoon. Her daughter went out--without her doorkey--and could not get into the house when she returned because the garage door opener simply refused to work (go into the garage, and then into the house without needing a key). We haven't heard from the other daughter, who lives about eight miles north and seven-eight miles east of us.

Several years ago, there was quite a bit about "canyon winds," which came roaring down out of the canyons from time to time when a cold front moved in, but these winds simply came over the tops of the Wasatch Front.

There was quite a bit of snow south of here: we had perhaps a tenth of an inch at our house yesterday, and it melted when it hit the ground.

It has been a nice seasonal day {C W}, here with lots of sunshine, and all snow has left us except a bit in shady places.  It was only 1 1/2" of the stuff.  Temp did get to 40.

Actually, we're falling behind just a bit in heating degree days now to "normal"...Would be nice if it would continue to do that.

5" of fresh snow today and still falling. This town usually handles snow traffic, but seems to have wimped out today.

The dogs are having a blast in the white stuff - much more frisky.

Quentin, the sunshine is nice!  I've been out and about myself, this morning, doing the regular first of the month errands.  Tomorrow morning will be bill paying time:  yuck.  Hate that, but it does need to be done.  Looks like everyone else has been out and about in the sunshine today, since you're the only one who has been in since I was in this morning.  Do have a little bit of a breeze, but not bad outside.

Here's our

Pennsylvania Dutch menu for the rest of the day:

1.  1.  Pork spareribs w/apples and squash

2.  Sauerbraten

3.  Beef and noodle casserole

Vegetables:

1.  Potato and bread filling

2.  Parsilied potatoes

3.  Candied swet potatoes

4.  Corn fritters

5.  Green beans w/ham

6.  Fried green tomatoes

7.  Corn and lima beans

Salads:

1.  German potato salad

2.  Beef vegetable soup

3.  Hot cabbage slaw

4.  Pickled beets

5.  Pickled cucumber salad

Desserts:

1.  Crumb cake

2.  Shoofly cake

3.  Saffron cake

4.  Apple dumplings

5.  Lemon sponge pie

Hope you enjoy the above selections, have a great afternoon, take care and see you all later.

....A good December start.  25 degrees earlier this morning, but the sun is out bright.  Hopefully, it will take care of the little bit of snow on the grass today.  Expected high in our area:  41 degrees.

And finally, the wind seems calm.

I note a R. Hensley on line, and from Anderson....We're just about 10 - 12 miles distance.

Have some intown stops to do today, so we'll be getting out in some of that sunshine.

Good Thursday morning and Happy December 1st.  24 more days until Christmas, and I need to get started on my Christmas shopping ,and my Christmas baking. And getting my Christmas cards and getting them addressed and in the mail.

Starting out with a temp of 29, 30 degrees and foggy as all get out.  It looks like we got moved to London, England overnight, or else they moved here.  Supposed to get up to about 52 degrees later on this afternoon.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the warmer/serving bar this morning:  bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits, gravy, bagels, bear claws, oatmeal, grits, cream of wheat and toast are also on the menu this morning.

Everyone have a good morning, take care and I'll see you all later.
