Well, yesterday it was 50 with a bit of rain, today, it's down to 30 (and dropping) and it's "spitting" snow. Points south will likely see some lake effect.
Nice party at a friend's house yesterday afternoon, but the two hour drive to get there (and another two hours back) made for a long day.
I suppose I ought to do something today besides nap...

Quentin, I fully agree with you on taking this kind of January weather!! I can take a little snow, but definitely do not want to have to deal with any sleet or ice.
For Sunday Dinner today:
1. Leftover pizza from last night
2. Corned beef, cabbage for anyone who likes boiled cabbage, cole slaw for anyone who doesn't care for the cooked cabbage, and crescent rolls
3. Sloppy Joes w/ your choice of slaw or tossed salad

Good morning everyone and greetings from WI. Our temperature is now 9F which is up from a low of 6F overnight. Guess we better break out the shorts! I had intended on going icefishing today near Shawano...but re-sprained my left ankle. Anyone got an extra to spare? I'm so sick of that thing being less than fully capable I could scream. Anyway...I hope all of our neighbors in KY/MO survived the severe storms that popped through a few days ago. Sounded pretty scary.
Christmas decorations come down today and then it's time to rearrange the house. I may be lurking for a while. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a good New Year.

Good Sunday morning. Joe, thanks for fixing breakfast this morning. 24 degrees at the weather bureau at the airport, 27 degrees here in town this morning. Our high today is only supposed to be 35 degrees F.
Slept good last night, until my fingers aching woke me up around 4. Guess I have a touch of rheumatism in the fingers.
Wonder how Tom is doing. Haven't heard from him for a little bit.

....Partly sunny this morning and now...42 degrees. Believe we'll go down in temp today and on into the week. But see nothing severe in temps headed our way.
But.....The yard and golf fairway behind us is alive with ROBINS this morning....Yes, robins. And watching, they are actually getting worms out of the ground, just like in Spring / Summer...!
We wonder if they are stopped here from farther north and will continue south to better Winter climate....?? We've seen this pattern before...There appear to be dozens of them. We'll hope they know what they are doing. January of course, is our most coldest month on avg.
Today, it is pretty decent for them, but this is January and we know what we'll be getting at least part of the time. Our December has been much below avg. in temp and above in snow fall, so it's possible we'll see some moderating in weather {at times}, this month. It's happened before.
Many other birds around in the yard and fairway this morning too....Including Cardinals.

Our local media indicates the hiring process has begun for our new: Progress Rail Co., coming to Muncie. Also indicates of plans for work to begin by 3rd qtr. Will be interesting to watch.

We have a current temp of 55 degrees (was 56 when I awoke at 5:15 a.m.), and light rain.
Coffee, juices, and other assorted morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. On the serving station this morning:
Sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, made from scratch buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, bagels, bear claws, pineapple chunks, papaya, kiwi, and assorted jellies/jams/preserves.

While working on some reports at the fire station, overheard another fire department dealing with an accident that apparently damaged some crossing equipment. On top of that, a patrol car on the way to the accident saw a CSX freight headed that way. A phone call or two later the train was stopped. It ended up sounding rather like the track was fouled.
I didn't manage to jinx us, fire call-wise when I posted our 2010 run stats on the fire department website before midnight. We didn't end up going out, which would have meant having to update the website one last time.
We went out 113 times last year for everything from flooded basements and difficulty breathing to fully involved structures and full arrests. Not huge numbers by some standards, but busy enough for us.
This has been a different day. This morning, I went in to Salt Lake City much earlier than usual--because two of the therapists wanted to see how she can do at home. I brought her out, they watched her as she moved from place to place as she needs to, and they agreed that she can come home Tuesday. I had to take her back, despite her desire to stay here.
We had a New Year's Eve service at church--and it seems that most of the members had other things that were more important.
We have had snow off an on, but the roads are fairly clear (no plowing has been done on our street, and I give thanks for such would have thrown a great pile onto my driveway apron--after I had cleared it Thursday morning; the street has been salted). In all, today I saw only two incidents which required police attention in my three round trips into/out of Salt Lake City.
Tom, I am sorry to see that the Gamecocks did not snatch the tomahawks off the Seminoles' helmets and scalp the Seminoles. Does Steve Spurrier have any steel spurs for the team? So far, the Southeastern Conference has not done well in the bowls.
Again, I wish a better year for all.
