One more time we get to put down all ones:  1 / 11 / 11.....Doesn't happen too often.

Well, our latest weather system started to put down light, fine, dry snow during the dark early morning hours.  Now, it continues.  Still light, fine, dry, but steady snow.  Sounds like we'll see 3 to 5" of the stuff by the time this system passes on east to merge with the "Nor Easter" coming up the east coast, to deliver another hard punch for Phila. and north.

Mid 20's here this morning.  No wind yet.  That's to arrive overnight.

Nice and warm in here, no need to go out in that stuff, so we'll probably stay here today.....Pigs in the blanket will be the fare for a late lunch here.  Good stuff, Jean makes them just like a favorite place back in Pennsylvania did years ago.

Joe,

I certainly hope that they're patient down there ("yonder", is it?) cuz I don't think they're going anywhere for a while.  I read somewhere that 4 people have died as a result of the weather, that's sad.  Driving this morning up here (at 4:30 AM) I saw people out running & biking in the snow...but we don't have the ice and that's the difference maker.  My "little" sister in KS has a backup generator & other survival supplies (about a week's worth with generous use) because they deal with ice constantly.  As they live about 40 minutes from town they're necessities.  Directions to their house include "...turn off the paved road...".

Blame the Packers...they're sending an advance party to town for the football game this weekend.  We've got 21F and a couple of inches of snow on the ground (flurries?) so far.  Business as usual, ya der hey.  Off to lurk...

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  Well, it's been snowing for about 45, 50 minutes now, and they called off school about a half hour ago.  Snowing lightly right now (I have the entry door open, and watching the snow come down); but it is to pick up, and snow harder, so they decided to go ahead and not open the schools, and then dismissing early due to the weather early afternoon.Temp's in the mid to upper 20s.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages fresh and ready to go, along with plenty of hot water for hot chocolate, cider, tea.  Breakfast is also on the serving station.

Everyone have a good morning, take care, and keep safe.

T-minus 3 weeks until I get to Texas.  I will be in Austin for about 4 days...not sure how much time I'll be having to do any serious tourism...we'll see.  Anyone have any suggestions?  Sadly I can't sneak 165 miles to the ESE along the coast.

Coffee  CW ; please be careful on that freezy skid stuff.  I hope you can get a cinna bun and pop it in the micro to go with your coffee ~~~ comfort food ya know. We don't get much snow here in the mtns. at 3500ft. I still haul groc. to the pantry  from the food bank ( St. Marys) Phx.  Produce comes Thurs. to the Comunity center  from West Side food bank. In these hardscrabble times it is much needed.

We are in the middle of a 36 hour snowfall.  It is light; it is white; and it is cold.  Wind & low temps to follow.  Will pass it on as we finish with it.

No use to hurry it....enjoy.  We have a little bit here, so we're not in need.....

Yep, we were put under a Winter Weather Advisory around 1 a.m., until 7 p.m. tomorrow night.  Although, we haven't had anything start coming out of the clouds yet.  Should see something by early, early tomorrow morning?  Heard earlier that we're supposed to have a couple of inches of snow on the ground, by 8 a.m. in the morning, when I'll be going over for Produce/Bread, Pastry truck.

Welcome back to the fold, Justin!  Haven't seen you in here for quite awhile.  I hope we'll be able to see a little bit more of you in here.

And Tom, good to see you back!  How are you doing, and how's the wife?

For supper tonight, we have leftover meat loaf, etc., from yesterday.

Everyone have a good evening, take care, keep warm and safe.

Hmmm. The sun's out here in the wilds of northern New York, although there are scattered flurries in the forecast.

If the stuff down south tracks normally, we'll see little or no weather from it here.

Thanks for the tea CW - I needed that (it's still cold).

Good morning. 27 degrees and snow in Caroina. For us, this is a phenomenum and the place is just about shut down. Apparently , the interstates in the Columbia are virtually invisible with only the ROWs visible.

More later

It's good to hear from you, Tom; I trust you are much improved over what you were a couple of weeks ago.

Back when I was in public school, we hardly ever had heavy snow in Upstate South Carolina. One winter we did have enough so that school was closed for three days--and we had to make them up on Saturdays. Ice storms were common, and they caused enough trouble, and any heavy precipitation caused school buses to be late since most of the roads they used were red clay with a little bit of gravel mixed in. (I just reread this paragraph and saw that my keyboard had omitted some e's; perhaps it thought the letter is overused?Smile)

The predicted low for this morning was below ten; the actual low was about fifteen.

Tom, can you support the Southeastern Conference tonight?

Good morning all!

Snow is hammering looks like a good portion of us this morning. Best of luck, and God-speed to you all in this nasty weather. NWS says were supposed to receive about 4-5 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow.

Be safe all!

Good Monday morning all.  Currently 26 degrees w/cloudy skies.  Going for a high of 32 today, before the snow starts.

Mudchicken, sounds like the snow will be weakening by the time it hits us tomorrow. We're only supposed to see 2 to 4 inches by 10 tomorrow night.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go, including muchicken's hot cider and Larry & Tom's hot tea.  Breakfast is on the serving station.

Everybody have a good morning, and I'll see you all later.

P.S.  Good to see Dan, Mookie, mudchicken and Randy in last evening!

Evening all......

Well, after the shop had the truck for two weeks, the second day I was out with it I had to have some pulleys and the fan and alternator belt changed, doesn't sound like a stuck pig any more.  In Hebron, IN, thankful I'm not in that snow and ice mess down south, headed for chicagoland tomorrow.

Interesting playoff games these two days, lots of underdogs winning, I may have to run up by Dan's and put him out of his misery, though......

I'd offer everyone a 15-degree beer, but seeing as there is no alcohol permitted here, will keep it in the trailer......

See everyone later.....

Yes, we were well treated at Olive Garden....Good Sunday meal.  But our favorite waitress is moving back to South Bend...She, we will miss.

Used to look forward to lunch at Bruner's, the restaurant where I ate lunch while still in the work force....Especially when meatloaf was on the menu...I'd have that as a meatloaf sandwich.

Warmer here now...Let's say "less cold"...but as long as the wind is calm it's really not too bad outside now.  Didn't look, but it must be up around 20.

Coming out of Muncie {west side}, we drive along the Frankfort line of the N S, and where they drop cuts of cars {often}, there were long stretches of cars today....and a train stopped on the main.  As we continued towards home...few miles west of Muncie, we noted another train stopped on the main at Cammac....Seems a bit unusual.  Wonder if a derailment might have occured somewhere......?  It's a single track line.

Larry, you're very welcome on the pizza.

Here's the menu for our Sunday Dinner:

1.  Meat loaf w/mashed taters, homemade buttermilk biscuits, gravy, peas w/corn, brussels sprouts, cauliflower

Desserts:  chocolate cake w/chocolate icing, peach cobbler and blueberry pie.

Quentin, hope you and Jean enjoy your visit to The Olive Garden.  Maybe, later, before your bedtime, you might want to partake of a meat loaf sandwich.  I can remember, when we were growing up, after we got home from Sunday evening Church, Mama would fix each of us a meat loaf sandwich, and we'd eat it while watching Bonanza.

I believe this is our coldest morning so far, for this season.  At a little before 8 our instrument was reading at 9 degrees....Perhaps it went a bit below that at sunup....That generally happens.

But good old sunshine is coming right in my eastern window here right onto my computer screen.  That will help soon...and the trees seem motionless, so that's better than yesterday.  Putting gas in my truck yesterday {at 16 degrees}, but with wind, and it felt bone chilling.

No snow over night and believe none on the way here today.

So...Church will be next, and probably to our favorite Olive Garden later for our Sunday meal.

Good Sunday morning, everyone.  Very ccccccold here this morning:  11 degrees F. out at the airport, 12 degrees in the downtown area.  brrrrr.(Do we even have a smiley for brrrr?)

Coffee, juices, and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  danish, doughnuts, bagels and bear claws, along with some bacon, sausage & eggs biscuits.

Everyone have a good morning, bundle up if you have to go outside, take care and see you all later.
