Deshler Ohio-crossroads of the B&O Matt eats your fries.YUM! Clinton st viaduct undefeated against too tall trucks!!!(voted to be called the "Clinton St. can opener").
You're welcome, Joe, and here's the menu for the rest of the day:
1. Boneless pork tenderloin, sliced and grilled, w/mashed taters, gravy, green beans w/mushrooms, corn and baked cornbread.
2. Beef pot pie with your choice of the above mentioned veggies.
Very comfortable outside, although I don't know what our current temp is. Lots of sunshine, and a nice breeze blowing. Our high today is supposed to get to 88 degrees.
Everyone have a good afternoon, and take care.
Good afternoon. This morning was the followup for last weeks foot surgery. The old sourpuss looked it and said it looks like it's healing, and then proceeded to read me the riot act cause I didn't soak it in epsoms salt water last night. That woman I am married to made sure he was aware of that and egged him on! Torqued me off right proper.
That aside, does anyone remember the radio show IT PAYS TO BE IGNORANT? I have found and downloaded about 30 of those shows, and they are a hoot. Johnny, Quentin, anyone??
Tom

...."It pays to be ignorant".....No Tom, doesn't ring a bell at all....
Quentin
Deggesty Quentin, what kind of car you you showing in your avatar now? I like it.
Quentin, what kind of car you you showing in your avatar now?
I like it.
Johnny:
Tongue in cheek....?? The avatar shows an antique Tiffany style, Slag glass lamp now....but {seriously}, if you mean the previous pic....It's a Lexus IS AWD. 250
Edit:..........But it's changed again.
Quoting grampaw pettibone: "That aside, does anyone remember the radio show IT PAYS TO BE IGNORANT? I have found and downloaded about 30 of those shows, and they are a hoot. Johnny, Quentin, anyone??"
Oh, yes, Tom! The only exchange that I can remember was one that involved defining "caboose," "papoose," and "calaboose." There may have been other rhymes in this one, but I do not remember any more. Can you tell us how to get to them? This show was quite different from any that I have seen in recent years--and much more entertaining. Of course, once a week was often enough for it.
Johnny
I'll have a heapin' helpin' of # 1 and ice tea. Just saw an 18 wheeler drop flat trailer with a load of freight car wheels all blocked and chained south bound on I - 17 at MP. 262. Didn't get a count of sets as it was a sight one don't see often on a truck. Wonder where they were headed to.
Y6bs evergreen in my mind
Johnny, you can go to zootradio.com or do a google search for even more of them. My favorite expert was Lulu McConnell. She mentioned that she had trouble marrying her old man. She wouldn't marry him while he was drunk and he wouldn't marry her while he was sober.... I have thoroughly enjoyed the one liners and verbal fights that erupted on that program, which ran from 1942 thru 1952. They had some of the strangest music, too
Good Tuesday morning everyone. Cloudy with a temp of 72 degrees this morning. Could reach 90 degrees today (high yesterday was 92), with 20% humidity. We are awfully dry outside. The Salt River, in Bullitt County, where Walt and I used to live, when we first got married, is so low and warm that the fish are dying. And there are some pretty big fish laying there on the half dried up riverbed. Maybe, next week, when autumn starts, we'll see some good rainfall, to raise the water levels back up where they should be.
Looking forward to the bread truck coming this morning, along with the Produce truck. It'll be interesting to see what we have on both trucks.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. On the serving station this morning: bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, scrambled eggs, biscuits, gravy, hash browns, oatmeal and toast.
Everyone have a good morning, and I'll see you all whenever I get through with Produce. Take care!
good morning
well ns was busy when I went to work last night.2 stack trains passed each other as I pulled into our parking lot.Cw thanks for breakfast.Going to take a nap then it's time for more chores this afternoon.Rain might be coming by thursday the guessers say.
Joe, Thursday is when we're also supposed to see some rain.
Produce went well this morning. We got potatoes, strawberry milk, orange juice, peppers, raspberries and cabbage. Plenty of bread, doughnuts, brownies, and danish on the bread truck. We had 58 people show up today. Haven't had that many people show up for awhile.
Lunch is now on the serving station. Some cold cut sandwiches, and then later on, Walt will be making his spaghetti casserole for supper tonight. We'll have garden salad with it, along with your choice of garlic bread, garlic toast or Italian bread sticks.
.....Boy, participation to this site seems to be diminishing.....Hope the forum idea isn't falling apart.
73 degrees here now, but feels cooler as the humidity is so much lower than it's been for months....Dry...!
And speaking of oldtime network radio:

Tom, thanks for the information as to how to find "It Pays to be Ignorant." I tried zootradio.com--and was told that I could not get there from here. Then I did a search, and found several sites that have lists of programs. I listened to one program, and enjoyed it despite the poor quality of the sound. Two of the questions: "Who wrote the Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin and what famous man is it about?" and, "How much is a $25.00 war bond worth at maturity?"
Along with other music, they played quite a bit of classical music on "It Pays to be Ignorant"--which was not at all unusual sixty-seventy years ago.
I don't know what happened to Zoot. I can't seem to get there either for some reason. Something different came up tonight when I went there. One of the past questions was " Can a letter box? No, but a sardine can!". I am sure Zoot will be back after a while
Good Wednesday morning everyone. Quentin, you're right: there has been a drop in people on the forums lately. It usually picks up around here as soon as schools are back in session. Hopefully, it will pick up again very soon. I for one miss all our very interesting people we have, around here.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Regular breakfast menu is also ready and on the serving/warming station.
Mookie, if you're around, how about meeting me out in the garden, and we'll do some talking and watching the trains go by.
Our current temp is 67 this morning, going for a high today of 93. Everyone have a good morning, take care and see you all later.
CW - will need eye allergy drops in garden. Seem to have an itch I can't scratch this morning.
It is sprinkling here right now. Told you we don't have tornados here in the city, but we did have 80mph straight winds the other nite. Mother nature's way of getting rid of old trees, I guess.
Up to elbows in visiting relatives. Great-grandson, granddaughter, grandson and daughter all stopping by yesterday. Grandson (10) has grown drastically over the summer. Great-grandson (18 mos) literally runs everywhere.
Coffee and quiet time on patio would be nice!
She who has no signature! cinscocom-tmw
54 this morning here in nw ohio.going to get matt on the bus then it's nap time.Need to run errands this afternoon.Might peek at csx and see whats going on.Better chance of that happening on saturday.Cw thanks for breakfast.
Good Morning from Carolina and thanks for breakfast. 75 and sunny at present. The ceiling fan over the bed makes things just right. We sure could use some rain here. Neither of the hurricans is gonna help with that, and we'd prefer it from the west anyway.
Have a great day
Forty-three degrees at dawn this morning, but the sun is out in force and we're up to 53 at 10:30.
Mom arrived in good order last night. Headed back down the same way to visit her sister-in-law, who is laid up with multiple health issues. Then we're headed back to the airport again on Thursday so she can go down and see her newest great-grandchild.
Wheeee!

Earlier this morning, it was about 58 degrees. Clear skies and sunny and getting warmer now.....Dry...!
Yep, we're pretty dry here also, Quentin. According to what I heard on the weather report earlier, we have 3 inches below what we should be, for the last couple of months. Guess I'll be going outside later this evening, and water the tomato plants and flowers. We're supposed to finally get some rain tomorrow; but it's only about a 40% chance, and spotty at that.
I can't seem to work out transportation to return to physical therapy, so I've been vigilant about doing the exercises here at home. As a matter of fact, just got through sitting with my lower back to an ice pack. That is helping to relieve the aches from the exercises, and does make my back feel a little better.
Here is the menu for the rest of the day:
1. Leftovers of Walt's spaghetti casserole w/garden salad and your choice of bread: Italian, garlic, garlic toast or bread sticks.
2. Leftover beef stew w/cornbread
3. beef pot pie.
4. Chinese dishes: fried rice, chicken w/broccoli, pepper steak, Lo Mein, Chow Mein, sweet & sour pork, shrimp w/broccoli or Chinese vegetables, Moo Goo Gai Pan.
Mookie, hope you manage to survive all the relatives who have transended upon you! Everyone have a good afternoon and take care.
Paula............I believe the word here for August in Indiana, at least central Indiana was: The driest on record. Something like .037" Drawing from memory on the figure.

Good Thursday morning everyone. We have 80 degrees this morning, here in Louisville. Wind is blowing strong, and sprinkling.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are on the warmer/serving station. Also on there, are homemade cinnamon rolls, in honor of Ray's birthday today.
Happy Birthday, Ray!! Hope you have a very good one today, with all your wishes coming true. May you see plenty of trains.
Everyone have a great day, and see you all later. Take care!
Happy Birthday Ray. May you have Minnie Moore, whoever she is.... 65 and sunny this morning.
Paula, thx for breakfast. I see that Sarah has done gone and broke a train, literally. Does she have to pay for it?
Everybody take care
