Barbara has suggested Mac & Cheese Casserole, plus biscuits & a side salad for lunch. Sweet corn would be good too. I suggest blackberry cobbler Ala mode for dessert.

We got some liquid sunshine last night...not enough to flood the low areas again, but kept things moist.  Shortly I should have plenty 'o vegetables.  Wonder how far cherry tomatoes fly...Evil

Long couple of days coming up, hopefully with some good news mixed in there, then some tests, and then a move.

......Just a typical nice Summer morning here in central Indiana.  And we have the threat of rain each day this week, but so far nothing out of the ordinary.  Didn't think to look in the rain gauge when I was out with the little pup, and to the mail box....But didn't hear any activity overnight.

I got my eyes sorta covered....Blindfold

We got the rain overnite.  Another nice soaker.  We have filled up our lakes, reservoirs, creeks and water bottles!  What a wonderful year for rain.  Could do w/o the noise, however.  @ 3 am, it is a little disturbing.

Will send this on east to anyone that thinks they want some of it.

No rain here overnight, but it's in the forecast for pretty much the rest of the week.  We shall see.  Full day of stuff to get done.  Better get to it.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  Gee, looks like no one was in here last evening, after I fixed dinner/supper.  Sad  Well, I've gotten everything cleaned up and thrown out.

Coffee, juices, etc., are fresh and ready to go.  On the warmer/serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, and the usual breakfast items.  I hope at least someone comes in this morning!

Woke up this morning to pouring rain, thunder and a little bit of lightning.  Thunder/lightning has left our immediate area, but it is still raining.  But it won't stay cool for long:  going back into the low 90s this afternoon.  I hope the Freedom School will share the gym with us again this morning, if the rain doesn't stop, like they did last week.

You all have a good morning, and I'll see you all later on.

Here is our supper/dinner menu for tonight:

1.  Country fried steak w/steak fries, green beans, corn, biscuits & gravy, garden salad

2.  Steaks grilled on a larger George Foreman grill, with above mentioned veggies

And, as Joe requested, peach cobbler w/ice cream.

Looks like we might be getting some storms about to come through.  Right now, there's a thunderstorm warning, south of us, in Hardin County, KY, and our skies here are getting mighty dark.  Everyone have a good evening, take care, and if bad weather is headed your way, take the necessary precautions to keep yourself and loved ones safe and sound.

Hmmm, where is everyone today?  It's been pretty slow in here this morning, and now afternoon.

Here is what I have come up with, at least for lunch time:

Cold cuts with potato chips, Cheetos, or Cheese Nip crackers and garden salad, or

leftover beef pasta with garden salad and Club crackers.

Our projected high for today was 91, and at 1:07, we're already at 90 degrees here in Louisville.  I kinda think we're going to surpass 91 for a high by later this afternoon!

Everyone keep cool and have a very safe afternoon.

Started out much earlier with 75 degrees....Will get pretty warm today and of course, the humidity with it.  Partly cloudy for now.

If the grass would dry, I might get a mowing in today, but we have a 40% chance of rain....So, don't know yet.

Good morning from Carolina. Currently 77 and dark here, headed for hot and daylight.... I couldn't sleep so have been watching the Roanoke Railcam. Unfortunately, not a whole lot of activity. Thot I would drop by and open up, but some indian lady beat me to it.

Everyone take care and have a great day

Good Monday morning, all.  We currently have 76 very muggy degrees here in Louisville this morning.  Going for a high of 94.  Yuck!

Coffee, juices, etc., are fresh and ready to go.  Usual breakfast items are on the warmer/serving station.

Everyone have a good morning, if there are any requests for lunch/supper, just let me know.  Keep safe and cool.

We watched a BNSF emerge from the tunnel and cross the Missip in Dubuque.

BNSF crossed the river?  That's CNIC's track- I wonder what that was about.  Was it a coal consist?  I think there is a coal unit train that runs across to Waterloo and points west.

Well, after a rocky start this morning (something about water in a cylinder of our current F unit - never a good thing), we finally got running and did our afternoon trips.  Then we had to add two cars to the consist in preparation for the "train robberies" on Wednesday.  Long day on the railroad.

Any of that ice cream left?

Whew, what a week, feel like I got run over by my own truck.  Think part of it may be the heat, though.  Have run the truck almost every night this past week to stay cool, idle laws not withstanding (I hate New York's idle law).

Well, off to the sleeper again, see everyone later.....

We ran the rapids of the Kickapoo river in Wisconsin yesterday in a canoe. The weather was perfect. Then we enjoyed a family picnic today near Madison. We watched a BNSF emerge from the tunnel and cross the Missip in Dubuque. Later!

It does feel like an oven outside, doesn't it?  We've pretty much stayed inside the house so far today.  Too muggy out.

Here is our Sunday Dinner menu:

1.  Beef noodles w/your choice of the following veggies:  broccoli, brussels sprouts, green beans, corn (there's white and yellow corn, both), cauliflower and mashed potatoes w/butter

2.  Tuna melt casserole w/Italian bread and garden salad, along with any of the above mentioned veggies.

Everyone enjoy your afternoon, keep safe, cool and take care.

60 mph winds and some rain overnite.  Slept thru that and a power outage of about 45 min.  (Tree fell on line close by)  Still very humid, so no real relief forecast.  But should stay around 90, which is not too bad.

Sir C - if you are nesting with da boyz, you better turn AC down a lot - I bet they are warm little bodies!  And don't forget, pets sleep horizontally, not vertically.

Another kick-back day - will try to catch a few trains around noon, but not for long.

okay how about some pizza for breakfast?? It was warm in the corn city but we had some breeze and stayed in the shade.Mother nature provided a shower to help cool us off at suppertime.More new friends were made for sure.We needed a little less rust and a little more light when q 507 finally got to roll south at Deshler. There was a re-stenciled "spercerville and elgin" grain car on the end of q 507.We did see 2 former Katy cars go north on Q 512.Cw thanks for breakfast. We'll take some ice cream this afternoon.

stay safe

Good Sunday morning, everyone.  Mudchicken, it's good that you were able to drop in and visit for a few!  Take care, being out in that heat!  And that goes for everyone else around here, too!!!!!!

Coffee, juices , etc., are fresh and ready to go.  On the warmer/serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, and a selection of fresh fruits.

Enjoy your breakfast, keep cool, and take care on your outings, or whatever you have planned for today.

Mooks:

All we got was wind and virga. 102 today at Hugo. The ground was so hot we were using empty cardboard boxes to kneel on the ground and put our monuments in between Hugo and Clifford. The railroad (Uncle Pete's KP line/ Salina Sub.)came to a stop out there because of rail rising in the plates (an "almost" sunkink). Track forces were out patrolling the overheated track. Working between Clifford and Boyero tomorrow - hoping that Mr. Sun gets some clouds to cool things off.

Cattle here were hiding in the culverts under US-40. The echos and racket had to be heard. (a really bad 22 part harmony?)

Going home late Monday morning and going to hide in the AC of the master nestroom hangin' with da boyz inspecting my eyelids and re-hydrating.

I'm with Dan!  Pizza is always good!

Looks like the Chicken is stirring up a fuss to the west of us.  Sending showers our way!  Nothing too exciting, so will wring out a little and pass it on!
