We had a great time today. Many fields have had way too much rain, leaving dwarf corn, pale green in color. We also found tall corn in many locations. Note the size in Barb's pic.

Then we saw a loaded coal train finish going around a manifest train.

.......If anyone is hunting tall corn, we can satisfy.  For our somewhat northern location, the corn has really grown fast {with an excellent growing season so far},  We have some corn around us that must be at least 10' now....!  Tassels on them too.

Good afternoon, everyone.  I have had lots of problems this morning, trying to get in here on IE browser.  As soon as I would attempt to log on, I'd let the dreaded "Page cannot be found" message.  Finally, I pulled up Firefox, and managed to get logged on!

Walt, thanks for fixing breakfast this morning!  I really appreciate the help you, Joe and the others give me in here!!

You all have a good afternoon, keep safe, and I'll see you all again in a few hours, with our pizza menu.

Good morning. Kinda cool in Carolina this morning, 67 and sunny. Gonna heat up to the mid 80s later.

Kinda cool in northern Utah this morning, 50, sunny and a brisk breeze out of the north. Gonna heat up to 80 later. We had a welcome cold front (no rain, though) come through last night. The morning temperatures had been about 60, with the highs in the eighties and nineties. Southern Utah, of course, has already had highs above 100. I'm glad I do not live down there, even though the cloimate is dry.

A beautiful 4th weekend here.....Bright sunshine, pretty blue skies....and still with lower humidity.  But we understand heat and humidity is to come back rather soon.  At least no rain for our holiday time here.....

Everyone enjoy.....Safely.

Good Morning All.  Currently cloudy and 79 here in Alamo City.  Still dealing with the remnants of Hurricane Alex here in South Central Texas.  Showers and storms predicted through the weekend.

Enjoy your holiday weekend and be safe!

Just coffee for me. We are headed over for a fund raiser breakfast at the Eliza Community Church this morning. The ladies adorn the tables with home-made Danish & donuts. I call it, "Fattening up for the Fourth"..Then we are off to find the tallest corn in the county.

Kinda dry hereabouts.  Maybe it'll rain on Monday, after all the weekenders head home.  Isn't Monday the "observed" Independence Day, due to the 4th being on Sunday?  A lot of people will still be off work.

Fireworks in one nearby town tonight, for which I'll load up my mountain bike and do EMS patrol, then it's down the river to Alexandria Bay for the fireworks gala there.  With any luck, I'll catch a ride on a local fireboat for a front row seat...

Morning ALL!!!  64 degrees in the Metro Louisville area right now, going for a high of 90 degrees today, with lower humidity.....sounds like a very nice day to get on the bike and go around to some of my favorite spots for some train watching!

Coffee is brewing, water is on for tea, etc., good stuff is being put out on the Warming Trays now. I'm very sure CW will be in later with a menu for today.

Hope All are preparing for a Great Happy Birthday America weekend!  Just remember what it actually stands for.

Quentin, there is also a live online scanner from the Roanoke area to listen to if you are so inclined.

The address for that on-line scanner is http://www.railroadradio.net/content/view/174/207/

Enjoy!

....Thanks Murray.....Yes, I'm aware of it...and actually had it on a few min. about an hour ago.   Have a good holiday weekend.

Same to you as well!  Its been raining here most of the week.  We have been dealing with the remnants of Hurricane Alex.  But on a positive note...no water restrictions for us this year!

Larry, hope All is going well for you and tests don't show anything too bad.

Feeling fine, and the doc said to play it cool and see what happens.  Aside from a definite gall stone (which one in three of you have as well), all the tests came back pretty much on the mark.  There's a couple of tests that might tell more but require more prep than the ER is going to do (like a colonoscopy or an endoscope), but those are for later.   The EKG's looked fine, too.

For the moment, I guess I'm as healthy as a horse...

Well Larry, Stay that way!!!!

It wasn't until 1986 that I found out that I was apparently born with one kidney, never had any problems until then. Don't seem to have any problems now; in respect to that. (now back, etc., is another story.)

Right now, my only problems are: "Another Day Older and Deeper in Debt!!"

Willy, I'm not going to take away your whistle, or whatever; just keep any "BAD" weather in your all's area. Right now in the Ohio Valley, we are having some Great weather, and don't need anything to spoil it. After about 18 days above normal temps.(90 deg. +) we're loving the cooler temps.!!

[Bike Riding has been much so much more comfortable!]

.....Just checked over on the Roanoke cam and watched two movements....A long freight westbound, and a former Conrail engine moving west on far track and then stopped over to the right beyound the signals.  Cam seems to be working most time I turn to it now.  Sure does a nice job and looking at it on my 18" plus monitor {full pic}, sure does make it nice.....

Joe!  That's my kinda Tonka Toy!

We saw a wind turbine blade traveling down Highway 2 yesterday.  It is big on a train and even bigger on a truck!  But one blade does not a wind turbine make, so wondering where it was headed?

Well, Sarah's waiting for their train to be ready for them to head out.  She came home earlier, and left again about 11:50, to go back and see if their train was made up.

I've got our Friday Fish Fry ready and on the serving station.  The fish menu ranges from catfish to shrimp, and the side dishes range from baked beans to breaded deep fried mushrooms.

Have some more of the Patriotic cupcakes (and yes, Mookie, of course there are some that are chocolate).  I also have made a 'RED WHITE AND BLUE' cake, that is decorated with blueberries and strawberries, with white icing, and red icing stripes, representing our flag.

Hope you all enjoy your afternoon!  See ya!

.....Another beautiful morning here in central Indiana....Again.  It's been like this mostly all week.   But I see rumblings of the good ol' heat / humidity will be coming back to serve us.  No doubt from me.  But right now, it's very comfortable.  Earlier this morning, my instrument indicated our low was 59 degrees.....But yesterday's report of 29% humidity, is almost unheard of in this season.

Must clean a bit of road dirt off very bottom of the body edge {on truck}, especially right behind the front wheel, and then apply the Mequiers cleaner / wax and bingo.....Both vehicles are complete....New wax job on both.  Must admit Jean did more on the truck than I did.

Just checked over on the Roanoke cam and watched two movements....A long freight westbound, and a former Conrail engine moving west on far track and then stopped over to the right beyound the signals.  Cam seems to be working most time I turn to it now.  Sure does a nice job and looking at it on my 18" plus monitor {full pic}, sure does make it nice.....

Good wishes to all to have a safe 4th holiday....Careful that kids don't get into too strong explosives, and do injury to hands, face, etc....It appears we are to have mostly sunshine.....and as I noted above....warmer.
