Turkeys are another story altogether.  I don't believe there were any in this area 10-15 years ago - now the danged things are all over the place.

Many might be surprised at how small a fox is.  This one was beautiful - nice fluffy tail and all.  Not that I was tempted to try and pet it....

We do have some big cats around here - I encountered a bobcat on the ranges at our local military installation not long ago.  It's not unusual for a bear or three to be bagged during that season on the post.

A friend on Facebook noted that their holiday activities were interrupted by a family of about 10 skunks....

Mookie
Our pop is roughly 250K and we have seen all sorts of wildlife except lions, tigers and bears, which have probably appeared in our football stadium at one time or another.

Tree - we had a flock of wild turkeys just a few blocks from our house in a small park in the middle of some very expensive homes, a fox at the train watching site which is surrounded by homes and businesses and just the other day - a wild turkey wandering down the Amtrak track.  Our pop is roughly 250K and we have seen all sorts of wildlife except lions, tigers and bears, which have probably appeared in our football stadium at one time or another.

Just a sign of how well wildlife adapts to us, rather than the reverse.  Didcha' notice how small a fox really is?  I was surprised.  Also, threw a kiss to the bunny on the front lawn this morning.  She was waiting for the daily peanuts/birdseed.

Would trade a fox for the turkeys renting the house next to ours any day!  Clown

85 right now - and that's the humidity.  The temperature is only 75F, but it's still plenty uncomfortable.  With no air conditioning in the house, it's gonna be a warm one.  And I'm planning on going out and washing some windows.

As noted in the lounge, I was surprised to see a real, live fox trotting down the road in front of the fire station last night.  If we were on the outskirts I might not have thought much of it, but the station is pretty much in the middle of our hamlet, meaning the fox had to pass a number of houses to get where I saw it.  I'm surprised there wasn't a lot of caterwauling going on from the local dogs, but I didn't hear a peep!  It didn't appear to act abnormally, so I'm not worried about it (not to mention that I was 10 feet off the ground on top of our rescue truck at the time), but it sure was unusual.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  It's going to be a very 3H day:  hazy, hot and humid.  It's 76 degrees here in Louisville at 5:56 a.m., going for a high in the mid 90s.  No chance of rain until Thursday.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits, gravy, cereal, fresh fruit.

Guess I'll see you all after I get through with Tuesday Produce.  Everyone keep cool, and take care.

At a large funeral, the minister was expounding about what a good family man the decedent was, how he always had a smile and how much he had done for the community and how they had loved him in return. On the middle of all this, the man's 8 year old son stood up and walked down to the casket and looked in. Then he returned to his mother and in a loud whisper, said "Yep, that's daddy all right!"

We are still having cool weather here--about fifty in the morning and maybe eighty in the afternoon.

Except for poppings late Satuday and Sunday nights, it has been quiet here.

.....Yes, it really is a scorcher for us too....including humidity:  94 @ 4:48 pm.  But a bit surprising to me....Same time yesterday, it was a degree or so higher.  Perhaps we're still rising.....

Hello everyone.  My, what a day we've had:  wound up with a virus on the computer this morning.  We have spent the last 4+ hours, working with Dell to get the virus off, and everything A-OK again.   May be back in later and post of supper menu.  If not, see you all in the morning.

There were too many potential passengers for my usual boat ride to watch fireworks last night, so I bailed and went to the home of a former co-worker where I watched a different display (and dealt with a lot less traffic).   Did some catching up and got a nice waterfront view of the show.

Being lazy today.  It's a scorcher, though (at least for us).  The weather station is currently showing 91.

It thankfully stayed dry for the holiday, and we don't need the 4-6 inches some in the midwest is getting, but we really could use some rain.

Good Monday morning ,everyone.  Such a nice 4th of July yesterday!  The three of us went to the fairgrounds, for the Stewart Flea Market, saw our friends from High Sierra Barbecue, and got a few things that we needed.  Came home, and fixed supper, watched the Capitol Fourth, then went outside and watched the neighborhood fireworks.  A splendid evening.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  On the serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, pork sausage patties & links, scrambled eggs, made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy , cantaloupe and watermelon chunks.

Everyone have a good morning, and I'll be back after awhile.  Take care.

Afternoon, and happy Independence Day, all.....

Home for weekend, so have been working on models again, finishing up some 12-year old Walthers tank car kits, amongst other things.

Mutt, Facebook comment I posted was prompted by a wreck I saw about 50 miles from you, apparently someone in an SUV made a hard right on the interstate, and when it hit the bottom of the ditch, the vehicle pole-vaulted into the fence line, upside down.  My first thought was "Gee, what a funny place to park a vehicle...."

Well, off to parents to celebrate holiday, so see everyone later.....

This is a "Flower Bed" here at our house, Sarah "Created" this one a month or so ago; friends on Facebook should have already seen this one already.

Just thought it was appropriate for today.

Good morning, and Happy Birthday America!

Murray, thanks for posting the UTube link of Kate Smith, singing God Bless America!  Such a very nice way to start Independence Day.

Joe, thanks for taking care of breakfast.  You and Matt did a terrific job!

We currently have 77 degrees outside, and supposed to get up to about 93 degrees today.  Going to be a beautiful 4th, with no rain in our forecast this year.

Everyone have a very good day, and take care.

Had a nice day today.  Breakfast out; trains for awhile; early supper with a low-flying chicken.  Big Smile

He was on his way back home to Denver, so we had to lift and eat fast.

I really do enjoy his visits - even if they are always too short!
