Good Thursday morning, everyone. Bob, sorry to hear about your cancelled river run. Sure would have been cooler on the water!
Tom, you'll just have to find someone else, to help pick out baby names. Sorry about that!
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. On the serving/warmer station this morning: the usual bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits & gravy.
We have cloudy skies this morning, with a temp of 78 degrees. Supposed to get back up in the mid to upper 90s again today. Yesterday's high was 97 degrees F. We have a chance of some rain/tshowers for later today. Our high tomorrow is supposed to be a little cooler, somewhere in the 80s.
Everyone have a good morning, keep cool and take care. Going to see what mischief I can get into (won't be much, as I don't see Mookie anywhere around).
Hey Paula. I'm pleased to hear the exam went well. We stayed in Wisconsin last night, looking forward to the canoe trip this morning. The isolated thunder storm turned into an all morning rain, then a thunderstorm. We canceled the river run and came home. We will try again later in the month.
.....I'm sure other places were hotter than us today, but today was the warmest I've seen here this season....96.4 late this afternoon, with clear skies all day.
Tomorrow, a chance of rain.....Probably will be spotty. We need some again, as the heat has a way of drying out the growing things.
This terrible heat {especially in the east}, must make authorities a bit nervous about some rail heat kinks....

Aw rats. I was looking forward to help pick a name for junior. I am disapinted

COAST LINE FOREVER
It is better to dwell in the corner of a roof than to share a house with a contentious woman! (Solomon)
A contentious woman is like a constant dripping! (Solomon)
To put everyone's mind at ease: No, I am not pregnant!! That department departed the depot quite a few years ago. They (doctors & hospitals) do ultrasounds for several things now, like on the chest area of women, and about 21 years ago, Walt had ultrasound treatments on his back, after the ambulance accident. So, they're not just to look at babies in wombs.
Everything went well, as expected, on the mammogram (didn't even have to have the ultrasound today), so I don't have to go back for a year.
Joe and everyone, for supper tonight, you'll find on the serving station:
Hoagies/subs of the following: 1. beef roast, turkey, ham w/your choice of tater chips, fries (curly or regular) and there is sherbet for dessert (orange, pinapple, lime).
Everyone keep cool, have a good evening, and take care.

Dan - notice how one misstep will mean an hour's worth of cleaning?
DeggestyMany women have ultrasounds taken to check on their babies. Hmm?

On the subject of 'lolcats' I made one while railfanning two years ago along the WSOR.

Mooks, glad you liked it. Your avatar would fit right in.
Good morning from Carolina. Currently 83, headed for 100 so they say, and then it may get hot.
Got a call into the city manager about the $324 water bill we got. I had the service checked, no leak and no washouts, bill is wrong. Will advise.
Take care and stay safe
Dale - I started laughing before I even opened up the site!! Just the title alone was funny and I have seen a couple of pix, but none of these. That was a day brightener!
Morning everyone! We finally have hot weather out here, summer took a while to show up.
Mookie, have you seen this site?

diningcar Good morning all. I have been occupied, from my computer desk, analyzing and resolving, in my mind, the two Raton Line washouts which caused Amtrak to bus Southwest Chief passengers for several days. This was my old stomping grounds and I could not visualize the locations. However an Amtrak railfan took photos from the rear of the first train through the repairs and I now have offered the thought that this was a 100-200 year frequency storm because the washout locations have no history of such in the 120 year history of this line.

Good Wednesday morning, all. Haven't heard the weather report this morning (don't have TV on), but the sun is shining, and it's very warm, already, outside.
Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. On the serving station this morning: the usual bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, sausage, eggs, etc., along with some cantaloupe and watermelon balls.
I definitely won't be in here for the noon hour today: have to go to the hospital for my 6 month mammogram/ultrasound. Not been having any problems, so everything should be o.k.
You all take care, and I'll see you all this evening, sometime.
Modelcar MookieHis Dad taught him all his "adult" behavior..... Yes, that's a real problem for many cities, towns and wherever. We actually have a "loud radio" noise ordinance here in Muncie...So many ft. away from said vehicle, one is not supposed to hear the "thump, thump"..... I can't compare that to music. Some of the amps. blast the speakers so hard they go way into distortion and even excite car parts, doors, fenders, trunk lids, and so on to rattle along with the "thump, thump"....! I doubt if the ord. is enforced strickly, but I actually don't seem to hear as many as we used to in the fair city. Just think, those same folks that are blasting decibles now, will have to play their radios even louder later {to hear them}, as by then, their hearing will be going defunct.....

As to sound, from time to time, someone will drive by, either on our street or the one at right angles to it (there is one house between us and that street., with his choice of sound shaking the ground. We have a local ordinance against sound systems being heard so far, but these numbskulls believe that EVERYbody should like what they like. At times, when such has pulled up beside me, I have been tempted to let him know that I am having difficulty hearing my (and Ricki's) choice in music.

Just curious, does this follow under the "Monkey See, Monkey Do" catigory?
Eventhough it's not college related, I should have mentioned that we have an over abundance of "Bats" here in the city. (both from the museum and minor league baseball team.)
Thankfully U of L changed affiliations several years ago, and U of K doesn't seem to want to change, or need too.
Quentin, I'm not sure how many years the "Loud Radio"ordinance has been on the "books" here; it's certainly something that does not generally get enforced.
[lets see, I think you have to be "drunk driving", in excess of 100mph, and alluding the police.......then I'm not sure if they'll put that "charge" down.]
Being Crazy, keeps you from going "INSANE" !! "The light at the end of the tunnel, has been turned off due to budget cuts" NOT AFRAID A Vet., and PROUD OF IT!!
"Hmm, I knew kids grew up fast, they must be getting faster as I get a bit older; adult First Graders....what are they teaching these days?! "
Actually - I upgraded him - should have been pre-school. Didn't mean to insult any first graders. His Dad taught him all his "adult" behavior.....
Well we have a few rabbits, (or wabbits depending on....) several possums, and occasional deer, (if you're in one of the city parks.) Wild Turkeys; several, and if they can take away the "Wild Turkey" maybe we won't have them.
And of course we have the "Year Round" Squirrels that we've love to export out of here. And unless things change quite a bit, we should only have Wildcats, Cardinals & Bearcats in the semi-local area.
Hmm, I knew kids grew up fast, they must be getting faster as I get a bit older; adult First Graders....what are they teaching these days?!
Johnny - that's it! I need to make sure the turkeys next door aren't eating our peanuts! Then I need to figure out how to get rid of 3 cars out of about 7 that have treble loud stereos (yes the police have been notified, so now they don't play them quite as long when they are in the driveway!)
I tried to talk to the youngest one about the thump-thump and he informed me that we live in a very noisy neighborhood, so his noise shouldn't be noticible. It is hard to argue with an adult 1st grader!
Mookie Tree - we had a flock of wild turkeys just a few blocks from our house in a small park in the middle of some very expensive homes, a fox at the train watching site which is surrounded by homes and businesses and just the other day - a wild turkey wandering down the Amtrak track. Our pop is roughly 250K and we have seen all sorts of wildlife except lions, tigers and bears, which have probably appeared in our football stadium at one time or another. Just a sign of how well wildlife adapts to us, rather than the reverse. Didcha' notice how small a fox really is? I was surprised. Also, threw a kiss to the bunny on the front lawn this morning. She was waiting for the daily peanuts/birdseed. Would trade a fox for the turkeys renting the house next to ours any day!

As for turkeys living next door to you; turkeys need someone to clean up after them and make sure they are fed right.
Good afternoon, all. Produce went well this morning. Had about 34 people come sign up, then leave. Truck showed up at 8:50, and when we had everything ready to hand out (wasn't much today, just some spring greens mix, potatoes, yellow squash and watermelon), only ended up with about 26 people, as the others had not made their way back. So they lost out on what little was left for us.
We are back with our Tuesday Mexican Fiesta today:
1. Burritos (beef, beef & bean, beef enchilada style)
2. Tacos (hard shell and soft shell)
3. Spanish rice
4. Chimichangas
5. Fajitas
6. 6-oz. sirloin steaks
7. Smoked cheddar bacon burger
8. Mesquite-grilled chicken *** dinner
Hope you all enjoy, have a cool and safe afternoon and everyone take care.
Brian - that's right - I forgot about the "new" wildlife we will be mingling with in the future! Also forgot about the Baylor Bears, so we have had bears....
Tree - they say we have had bobcats and cougars close but no face-to-face for us. I think a fox is one of the more beautiful animals we have seen. And they keep down the rodent population, which detracts a little from that beauty....(icky)
