Just got done with a Calculus test on integrals, improper integrals, finding volumes, finding arc lengths, finding surface areas, and determining if sequences and series converge or diverge. Too much for one exam, if you ask me.

It's a nice day, so I think I'll do some train watching on my way home from school. Hope everyone has a good weekend while the forums are down!

I've been on the phone with Kodak customer service (in India).  Our printer is still under waranty, so they are sending us a new printhead.   Should arrive early next week.

Since no one gave me any suggestions, I've decided, since none of us will be here tomorrow, due to maintenance, we will have our Friday Fish Fry today.

We have the usual list of fish, and side dishes, along with the regular desserts of Yellow cake w/chocolate icing, pecan pie and the usual cobblers.

As Quentin said, we have cloudy skies, and it's very breezy (windy) outside.  Our projected high for today is 57.

Hope everyone has a good afternoon, and I'll see you all later.

Our forecast for today is just to be cloudy and cooler.  Earlier, it was 52 and now we have 47.

Tomorrow it becomes warmer again and sunshine or partly sunny forecast thru next Wednesday.  Blossoms and leaves are pretty now and more still more on the way to maturity.

Edit:  Now looking back on our day, we had quite a bit of sunshine too, but the air is cool with a bit of wind.  8:33 pm.

Good Thursday morning, and Ray, thank you for fixing breakfast this morning.  I was up, just didn't come to the computer after getting my morning coffee.

Joe, the video is very good!  We watched it last  night.  For some reason, we couldn't play it on the computer (and our DVD/VCR combo is on the fritz), so Sarah put in her laptop.  Very nice video!!

Well, pondering what to fix for our lunch/supper menu.  I'll take any suggestion you all can give me.  Maybe, since we'll be closed here tomorrow, we can do our Friday Fish Fry a day early?  Whatever you all want, is fine with me.  Just let me know.

I guess it's a good thing Kalmbach's site will be shut down, as I have to be ready to be picked up for my first actual therapy session at 7:30 in the morning.

Currently, we have a temp in the low 50s, supposed to get up to about 58 degrees today.  Very cloudy and overcast, after the storms last night.

Everyone have a good  morning, and I'll see you all later.  Take care!

Worked a charter train today - a "leadership" group took a ride up the line with us and had lunch at a rebuilt depot, along with ice cream from a nearby shop (which also catered the lunch).  Plenty of interfacing with CSX and the local shortline, not to mention a concurrent Amtrak arrival or two.  Great fun!

Wet here at the house all day (.4 inches worth, so far), but we escaped down around Utica with some clouds and a few sprinkles.  That's good.  I hate switching in the rain...

Evening, all.  I've been busy today, taking a computer chair over to friend, going to the library, taking a nap.  All good things to do, right?

Here's our supper menu for tonight:

PIZZAS:  1.  Cheese; 2.  Anchovie;  3.  Pepperoni/mushroom; 5.  Supreme;  6.  Goetta;  7.  Supreme;  8.  Italian sausage

Turkey *** w/green beans or broccoli w/cheese sauce, savory herbs stuffing

DESSERTS:  1.  chocolate cake; yellow cake w/chocolate icing; apple cobbler w/ice cream

Did receive something in the mail today from Defiance, OH.  But we haven't had a chance to watch it yet.  Hopefully, later this evening.  (All three of us, since Sarah will be home tonight.)  She has been at CSX all afternoon, doing her POD training, for going back to work.

Everyone have a good evening, stay dry, if you can, and you all take care!

Red Flag Warning (gawdawful wind)+rain + gropple + hail + Gawdawful wind (blowing tripod over)+ fog + wet snow + 40 degree drop in daytime temperature + GAWDAWFUL WIND+ Snirt (Lurch now has a faux tan)...all in 18 hours

Enough already MC. Back when we slayed dinosaurs before setting up the transit (1956 and yes it was a Gurley transit) we went to work on a motor car. Weather take the hindmost.

Left LJ after the three morning passenger trains had arrived and could hardly see the upper quad semiphores because a front was moving in after clearing Palmer Lake hill.  As we rode to Hilton it kept getting worse and the decision was made by the Transitman (I was the chainman then) to turn back to Las Animas. No. 123 had carried a green flag and the line up said three hours late, so we called the DS from the Hilton phone. He said 123 was stopped at Lamar so we tried to out run it to Las Animas. The semiphores were becoming difficult to see and the motor car indicaters could only protect for two miles so we were nervous as we went west, bucking a head wind now. Finally we set off east of LA Junction and 123 came by within three minutes. So I am difficult to impress with today's weather stories.

Now I will share some of CW's fine breakfast and await the next weather story.

Well, it sounds like it all worked out. You had the Red Flag Warning, but then the hail, snow, and colder temperatures came and viola, no more fire danger. Problem solved!

Gonna go sleep with Joe....wait a minute - that didn't come out right!  Blush

We have rain also.  And north winds.  And not a pretty day.  And I am sleepy, even after a cup of coffee.

But - we don't have to shovel this.  Sent all that to Kansas!  I am grateful for small things!

I have a date afternoon with the Driver.  We are going to go out for pizza.  Home by 5pm.  That is an old people's date, younguns....

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  Larry, so sorry to hear about the Dal.   To this day, I still look around for a few of our pets who have gone over Rainbow Bridge.  Sad

Weather wise, we have 73, 74 degrees this morning, going for a high of 77 today.  Have some rain/storms that will be moving in late this afternoon, which will cool us off about 20 some odd degrees tomorrow.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go. Coffee just finished dripping into the carafe.  I have fixed up some sausage/egg/cheese biscuits for breakfast this morning, along with the bagels and bear claws, and the rest of the normal breakfast menu.

Everyone have a good morning ,and let me know if you have a request for our noon and supper meals.

Although he was technically my daughter's dog, he came back to live with me after she married.  He would have been 12 in September.

Alas, the nerve condition that affected his hindquarters was progressive, and he could not longer walk on smooth surfaces or up steps, meaning trips to the back yard involved carrying him out and back in.  In a show of determination today, however, he managed to make is way unsteadily from where I'd left him basking in the sun to the back porch this afternoon.

As we waited at the vets, he stood there (with a little help), taking it all in, tail wagging as always.

It'll be a bit before I  stop reflexively looking for him when I come into the house...

Larry, Sympathies are going out to you on the loss of a friend.

Sounds like over "The Rainbow Bridge" was the best you could do.

As CW had mentioned earlier, we're debating on having Win put down...we're, (and she) are just hanging on hoping that's not going to happen anytime soon.

Oh Larry, I am so sorry for that news. It is never easy to lose an old friend. I have been there several times and it still hurts when I think about it. May G-D bless you in this time.

I sat on the back porch for a while this afternoon, and believe it or not, there was very little pollen in the air. There was however plenty on the ground, vehicles, the girls, and every place else. What we need is a good drenching rainstorm to straighten things out a bit, although it may turn into pollen flurries before it is over....

Everyone take care, and thanks Paula for the good wishes. I DO feel some better.

Weather in the north woods of NY suitably gloomy today, as the Dal has gone "over the rainbow."  Tough decision, but it had to be made.

On the railroad tomorrow.

Larry, my sympathies are with you, no one likes to have to put their dog to sleep and I am sure that sending your long-time four-legged friend "over the rainbow" was not an easy decision.

While I have never had a dog of my own, I have five cousins in the state of Colorado, all of which a few years ago had strongly recommended that I get myself a dog, and I am now giving some serious consideration to following through on that and getting myself an extra "friend". I started looking at the web sites of our local humane society and Second Chance Rescue yesterday afternoon. I am now more or less retired, I am not working, so why not??

It's been cold and wet here in Sioux Falls all day today, and it was raining here when I got out of bed round 6:00 this morning. At last report the temp here was 44 degrees.

There has been plenty of rail traffic throughout my neighborhood today, but I've not really seen anything, and I had gone for a walk late this morning because my health demands it. I was hoping I would encounter a some action with either the BNSF or the Dakota and Iowa. Tomorrow's weather is supposed to be a lot nicer and I will take my camera with me on tomorrow's walk and maybe I will get lucky this time around.

Tom, hope  you feel better soon.  My allergies are really kicking in today.  Usually wait until bedtime to use the Flonase, but had to use it about 20 minutes ago.  Beginning to be able to breathe without having the snuffles.

Our Tuesday Mexican Fiesta is now on the warmer bar.  All the usual Mexican dishes, along with Mesquite grilled steaks, pork chops and chicken.

Dessert will be:  cherry cobbler and blackberry pie ala mode.

I haven't looked at the thermometer lately, but you can tell it is getting warm!

The Produce truck came really early this morning:  8:35!  That is the earliest it has ever gotten here.  They brought:  potatoes, iceburg lettuce, apples and little packets of Country French salad dressing.

Everyone have a very nice afternoon, take care and I'll see you all later on.

Good afternoon from sunny Carolina. 86 degrees outside at present, warm and pleasant, but hot and miserable coming fast, I am afraid. The pollen is still of the pea soup fog variety, which seems to have no end. I am slightly under the weather today, so am a bit grumpy. There is nothing on the wireless to divert my attention and I have read most of the literature in sight, so am hitting the internet hard to keep from going into stir. That said, I am going to the Roanoke railcam. Everyone take care

.......Our central Indiana is bathed in beautiful Spring ambience this morning.....Mild Spring temps.  Had a weather system move across the bottom half of this State last night and we felt just the northern end of it for a short time.

Oh, what a beautiful time of the year....Just perfect.  Before high humidity and extreme temps set in.  Season seems to be about on target, maybe just a bit ahead of normal.  {First mowing was Mar. 27th...}.

April thru May sure are nice times here....{if we can escape the possible Spring storms}.

Yard is beautiful....Golf course Fairway adds to the beauty behind us....

Trivia:  Note the trees visible on the Roanoke rail cam are fast "springing" forth their leaves....The ones at the right side of the pic. are now doing that too....They seemed to be a bit slower than the ones over on the other side of the tracks.

Our favorite renovation contractor visited this morning and we're in the process of deciding on a new patio door for him to install for us....So that is started now again.....Tried to do that last Summer late but could not come to an agreement with Pella people....Price way out of line.

I note we're to have some {30 mph}, wind gusts mid day today and just now see the trees whipping around quite a bit.....That with clear blue skies.  To moderate this afternoon.

Wishing a good day to all present....Cool

We had a great storm last night. Over an inch of rain and even some hail. Like usual, the land of Mookie (aka Lincoln) managed to miss out on it. Nice today, but tomorrow it's going to be cold with a high of just 50 degrees.

Easter "vacation" is over and now it's time to head back to finish the semester. There's less than a month left!

Mookie reporting in:  Have a mild sinus headache this morning.  Nothing coffee and 2 non-aspirin won't help.

It is drippy here (in more ways than one) - tinkled a little overnite and now just sneezy.  But warmer than yesterday.  Found our "Observer" sitting on the front lawn in her usual place.  Watching the world go by.  If this is the original one, she would be at least 3 years old, which is old for a wild rabbit.  Maybe a small note in grass that sez "Bunny Stop - Please Face the Street"  for the new generations.

Our one crow is announcing the dawn and our one woodpecker seems to have found a McD's in a tree close by.

Keeping busy, altho I can't tell you exactly how.  Just seems like the days are now make the bed, lunch and unmake the bed.  Not sure what goes on in between, but a lot of fuss and feathers whatever it is.

Off to work on those feathers....

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  It's going to be a nice, lovely day today.  We currently have 71 degrees, going for a high again today of 85 and plenty of sunshine.  Roy, welcome back.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go, including the hot water for hot tea, and there's plenty of iced tea (sweet & unsweetened), along with plenty of Gatoraid for mudchicken and anyone else who wants some.  There's also a pretty good selection of Vitamin Waters to choose from.

On the serving station this morning:  turkey bacon, sausage links & patties, scrambled eggs, buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, fresh pineapple chunks/slices, and other fresh fruit.

Where is our Mookie?  Looks like she's M.I.A.

Well, you all have a good morning, and I'll see you all later on, after I get through with Tuesday Produce.
