So sorry to hear about Kevin. I don't know why I know the name, but I know I do. Did he have any published photos anywhere?

Kevin was on quite a few railroad forums over the years.  Started back around 1997 when Trainorders still had their chat...the moved to railroadforums, then our independent chat site foamerfighters.  He did shoot trains...primarily B&O trains...because of his association with the B&O Museum in Baltimore.

Eastern SC is covered in a thick coating of lime green pine pollen. When I look out the window, I sometimes see a green fog often with a swirling motion as the air currents stir things up. The wife can't even step outside without even getting a headache, and the girls come in green. The weather is beautiful, but the pollen is extreme. Looking forward to seeing the last of it!

Beautiful day here in the Piedmont of NC. Dogwoods, Red-bud, Oaks, Maples, Pines and all their ilk except the Persimmon trees are in bloom

N C in the early Spring sure is blessed with beautiful blossoms, greens and all the rest....We used to stop at Saluda, N C early in the season returning from Florida and witnessed it.

Beautiful day here in the Piedmont of NC. Dogwoods, Red-bud, Oaks, Maples, Pines and all their ilk except the Persimmon trees are in bloom (Ahhhh-Chooo). Great day however for sharing Iced Tea on the backyard deck with Lynda (the wife gets Easter Monday off due to her being a church musician)

Hope to get by more often Miss Paula,

Thanks for the glass of tea.

Good afternoon, all.  Well, I made it home safely.  I will have the first therapy session Friday at 9:30 a.m.  He said some exercises, but didn't say what exercises, and heat therapy.  Measured my back, had me bend forward, backward, left and right.  Did good, except for bending to the left.  That brought a real good pain.  Will go twice a week for the month.

Chris, good to see you in here!  Hope you get in more often!!

Jack, sounds like you and the Mrs. had a very nice Easter.

The menu for the rest of the day:

1.  Burgers and cheeseburgers w/your choice of fries (reg. or curly) and garden/tossed salad

2.  Fried steak w/cream of mushroom soup over it, w/steak fries, broccoli w/cheese sauce and garden/tossed salad

We have a current temp of 80 degrees, with partly sunny and cloudy skies.  Maybe we'll end up getting some rain showers, after all (especially since Sarah's gotten the grass cut and the weeding done).

Everyone enjoy your afternoon ,keep safe, take care and I'll see you all later.

Paula, good luck with your therapy. That may be down the road for me but right now it is cortesone shots. They will only administer a total of three in six months and I had the first one last Monday. It has relieved the pain substantially.

My bride (of 56 years) was taken for a 125 mile ride to see the desert flowers and then a fine Easter dinner. With all of the rain AZ experienced the flowers are exceptional this spring but will be gone soon when the AZ heat begins.

Just caught up with this thread.

Larry - So sorry about the dal. That's never a fun decision to make. I still remember how awful I felt when I had to make that decision with my Keeshond growing up.

Murray - So sorry to hear about Kevin. I don't know why I know the name, but I know I do. Did he have any published photos anywhere?

Good morning. 77 and sunny in Carolina. What a lovely day. Not a whole lot to report at present, we had a good resurrection day and slept well. That's about it.... Everyone take care and enjoy this weather.

Good Monday morning, everyone.  It sounds like everyone had a very good Easter yesterday.  The only thing the Easter Bunny left here, were three plastic eggs with M&Ms in them.  And, believe it or not, none of us have broken them open yet, although I did take the wrapper off mine.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  And for breakfast this morning:

1.  BLTs

2.  Cereal w/toast and fresh fruit

3.  Bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs w/made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy

Well, today is "T" day for me:  Starting therapy on my back this morning.  Anybody here ever have that?  I really don't know what to expect, when I go in there this morning.  Wondering if I'll be in a late of pain, etc.

Everyone have a good morning, and I'll see you all sometime this afternoon.

We had a good supper tonight--Ricki's favorite quadruped, lamb (I really prefer beef, which she eats to humor me). Early last week, I found a "semiboneless" leg of lamb in our favorite grocery store (the first leg I had seen there in many a year) and bought it. It seems to be not as difficult to carve as the other legs I have worked on--the first one seemed to have bones that went in every possible direction and some directions that I thought were impossible. She tells me that her mother would put several whole cloves of garlic into a leg of lamb before roasting it; I cut one clove up and put the pieces around in several places, giving a slightly garlic flavor to the roast.

We had an enjoyable Easter here- I was roused by the alarm at 5 AM to join the Chancel Choir at the 7 AM and 8:30 AM services.  Following that, we entertained our son and DIL for a dinner of steak on the grill.  He then trounced me in two games of ping-pong, and we split two games of cribbage.  They left and I got in a nap.  Now we're just relaxing and cleaning up.

good evening

Matthew did an excellent job this morning with his friends on their songs.Everyone complimented him after church. While at G+G house someone down the road tried to burn their trash and it quickly turned into a field fire. The fire departments got it stopped before it made the woods. As far as we know no one was hurt and no buildings were damaged.Time to get back into the routine.Matt has school tomorrow and we go back to work tomorrow night.I am going to grab some jellybeans and help mom put stuff away.

'Tis a beautiful Easter Day, despite the cool weather (from the low thirties to the mid-forties) and the promise of more snow (it snowed some last night).

Two services at our church this morning--seven and ten in the morning, with breakfast in between.  Going in for the first service, I saw little except for the streets, but when I went back home and brought Ricki in, we had a beautiful view of the snow-covered Wasatch Front.

The hyacinths by the front door are still looking good, even though they started coming out two weeks early. It's nice to have flowers that demand no attention but only ask for appreciation of their beauty.

Rejoice! He lives!

Evening all. It's evenings like this I love.Thumbs Up

What a gorgeous day! It’s 69* right now, it was 71*, but still really nice with a good breeze blowing in the westward window by my Computer.

We had a good Sunrise Service today at church. It was an honor to serve such an awesome god on Easter! The tomb is empty! He is risen!

Have a good evening all!

Justin

Good Morning and Happy Easter everyone from Alamo City.

On a sadder note, a good friend and fellow railfan, Kevin Gillespie, passed away yesterday following a bout with Pneumonia.  Some of you may have known Kevin.  Kevin was very active in civic and religious organizations in the Balitmore, Maryland area.  In addition, he was also a longtime volunteer at the B&O Museum in Baltimore.  He was also a moderator over at Railway Preservation News.

He will be missed.

Good Sunday morning, and yes, Ray, He is Risen!

Thank you for getting breakfast ready!  You, Joe and my other assistants are very good helpers, and I appreciate each and every one of you.

Breakfast sure does look good this morning.  I've got my coffee, and Mookie, here is your coffee mug.

Got the chickens ready to go into the oven.  What side dishes would you all like to have with the roasted chickens?  You get to pick the side dishes today, and I'll prepare them!

It looks like it is going to be a very beautiful Easter Sunday:  we have a current temp of 47 degrees, but will reach the upper 70s, 80 degrees by 5 p.m., with just a few clouds and plenty of sunshine!

Everyone have a great morning, and take care going to Church, work (for those who have to work today, as the railroads don't particularly take the day off), and we'll see you back in here later on this afternoon.

Happy Easter everyone!! He is Risen!! I've now got the turkey and the ham in the oven for dinner later this afternoon, and the coffee is brewing and I've mixed a fresh batch of orange juice.

For breakfast this morning we have bacon, scrambled eggs, french toast, blue berry pancakes with hot maple syrup and english muffins.

I will be going to church to celebrate Easter in a couple hours with a couple old friends I've not seen in a long time, and I am looking forward to it.

Well - it was a long day on the railroad - 660 people rode the trains (three different trips) which included a visit from a certain seasonal rabbit and a stop at the Remsen depot to hunt for eggs (and the treats therein).

I have a wonderful friend who looked in on the Dal while I was out.  A report was waiting for me when I got home.  About the same.

Tomorrow it's Easter service, and probably dinner, with daughter and her family.

Time to set up for tomorrow and call it a night.

'Mutt - Thanks for the pizza!

Larry; so sorry to hear about your pal. Iknow Dal will be missed. We had a Boxer ~~ Dixie Belle  and she loved my pick up truck. I would take her with me to do errands . She would hear me rattle my keys and run to the door. ~~~ Even after 10 yrs. when I get the keys  sometimes , I still look.

Sunny and about 73 degrees here right now, cleared up some after early rain showers.

Unfortunately didn't get trackside today, just been working around the house doing somethings like adding flexible drain to a section of guttering/downspout and working on "new" bracket for my bike for the "tail lights". Last Sat. We were out on the bikes and a Gust of wind blew my bike over destroying one of my blinking lights,(we were parked, and about 50 feet away from our bikes) Had to get that fixed so I can "Hopefully Be Seen" while I'm out riding. (and trying to see trains, which is what we were doing at that time.)

Well, I guess I'm playing bachlor tonight, as Sarah and CW are out grocery shopping for our house, and doing several other things. Guess I get to put out the Pizza Menu for tonight.

So, here goes!

1.  Canadian Bacon

2.  Cheese & Extra Cheeses

3.  Goetta (for Brian, Ky., and others that like that)

4.  Hawiian (for Larry)

5. Pepproni & Mushroom

6. Supreme (for people like me....and I'm not a pizza fan)

7. Italian Sausage

8. Anchovie (for Jay whom hasn't been in for a month of Sundays)

Everyone Take Care and enjoy what's left of tonight and have a Great Easter Sunday.

(and as Quentin said, remember it's meaning!)

....Jen, you are correct....off and on light rain with some wind today.  Cooler too.

Different from yesterday when we were able to accomplish some things around here outside....Such as:  Had 70' drive way...sidewalks....and rear patio, pressure cleaned.  Had a fellow remove my good Spaulding TV, FM tower that I put up 39 years ago....{still as plumb as the day it was put up}, but hasn't been in use for some years.  {Cable and XM now}...

Jean even had 2 carpet pcs. that protect inside at several doors, outside yesterday and cleaned them and let them dry in the sun.  Cleaned up the garage floor too.

Also, put in some screens at various places around the house....and had my truck washed....but we'll stay in mostly today.  Did go out for breakfast though.  No rain then to get truck messed up.

To be nicer tomorrow for Easter and warmer next week again.

Every one enjoy our Easter weekend and remember it's meaning.
