Mookie:  Just checked the weather forecast for when I get home this weekend, supposed to be 70+ in southern Wisconsin later this week and weekend as well.  Cats will be going nuts when we start leaving windows open at night....

....Our rainy Sunday weather has passed and has turned into sunshine....And this week is to be much warmer.  Several forecasts are saying up to 80 by Thursday.

Sounds like another yard mowing will be taking place....Right now, no rain in the forecast until Sunday.

Trivia:  Hearing so much about Rochelle all the time {meaning the rail cam}, I'm surprised we're not hearing how well the Roanoke cam is doing now....With the new location and much bigger picture....and then the ability to put it on "full screen"....I'm seeing quite a few trains and via smooth streaming video.....But the highlight was the long passenger {believed to be NS's business train}, passing and heading to Georgia, and the Masters.

Wish that rail cam also had sound as the Netherland cam has....But with a full screen pic., one can really get a good look at passing rail traffic....City activity too.

Sir C:  City mission only a few blocks north - might have something to do with it.  They took the lunar away so he was in the right spot!

Willy - he was trying to part the tracks at one point.  Think he was working over the pigeons under the bridge for "lunch"?  They weren't cooperating, either.

Hey CW - supposed to be 70 this week.  Outside with coffee!  Yessss....

Justin,

Your shots are looking much better.  Seems like you're figuring out angles, lighting, and composure.  If you safely (and legally) can - try some different angles and times of day.  My favorite was the overpowered train...but I like widenose GEs.

Morning all.....

48 and fog in Carlisle, PA, this morning, have truck running right now just to charge up the batteries (note to company:  Purchase and install Tri-Pacs!).  Supposed to be in the 50s with a lot of rain, though last night we probably could have used an ark.

CW, it wasn't the trailer that misbehaved, but the tractor, found out the adjuster pin was worn out, causing the 5th wheel jaws to go out of adjustment, and it released by itself.  Brand new used 5th wheel performing just fine, torture tested it yesterday coming out of Martinsville, hills on US220 in that area are pretty steep.

Will have breakfast and then play around with a few things, do not have to be at receiver untill 4pm eastern, after that, things could get interesting, supposed to be home this Friday.  See everyone later......

Barbara & I are finishing packing for our trip to Louisville, Roanoke & warm weather

Good Monday morning, everyone.  Bob, we're looking forward to the visit!!  It will be so nice to meet someone else from the forums!

Rain is out of the area.  We currently have 43 degrees, and clouds are moving out.  High today will be in the mid 50s, probably around 54.  Think we'll try to get out in the front yard, and trim our two burning bushes.  They really need it, as we didn't get to trim them last year.

Coffee, juices and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Hot water boiling for hot tea.

On the serving station this morning:  turkey bacon, pork sausage, bagels, bear claws, scrambled eggs, tater tots, made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, and there's also oatmeal, rice, toast and other cereals available, if none of this suits you this morning.

Everyone have a very good morning, and if anyone has a request for lunch/supper, let me know.  Take care, and see you later.

My sister, NancBHC was in the top 200 in the national bracket. In our local bracket, she has already won. And the rest of us have busted brackets, (not one pick remains) Butler is her Nat Champ. Martinsville NASCAR postponed until tomorrow.

Mookie

Incredibly busy weekend.  Seems like every minute is filled and I am tired tonite.

Willy we caught a few coal trains today.  Business seems to be picking up and they are running pretty steady!  But you missed Moses on Saturday.  Around noon, we stopped by the watch site to see if we could coax a few trains out of the yard and saw a man dressed in a black long cloak with red lining, a white knit bomber cap with flaps and a white muffler carrying a very long "staff".

He walked between the 6 tracks and raised his staff - pointing it at the yards, walked under the bridge and did the same to the pigeons and then walked in front of a sitting coal train that was doing bad order set outs.  Couldn't see what he did in front of the waiting coal train since we had another coal train leaving town blocking our view.   (where is my ladder!)  He was gone by the time the moving coal train was gone.

You never know what you are going to see when you have trains, people and animals.

Wish I had been there to see that! I'll bet he was just getting ready for the annual airing of "The Ten Commandments" on ABC on Saturday. Cool

Cannonball,

Thank you for the complements! I too agree! She sure has a detremined look on her face!. Just after she passed under us, (Nothing like having 4000 horses blasting exhaust in your face!) She really buckled down, and started to pull! The engineer ripped her out to full run 8, and she really started to smoke! I think she needs a new coat of paint as well. It is the economy I imagine. Not enough money to repaint old veterans like her. Sad, she needs it!Yeah!!

Well all it’s back to school tomorrow. Sadly enough. We only have 8 Mondays left thankfully!

See you all later!

Boy...you are so correct Jen...one never knows what's next...This afternoon, while we all were in the family room and the patio door faces the back yard, and out onto the golf course fairway.  The new little pup started barking and growing....and we looked to see what was upsetting her....A deer was walking down the middle of the fairway....

CW, you are not the only one to have slept in this morning. It was well after midnight when I finally went to bed, and I finally got up within the last 20 minutes or so. I've just poured myself a cup of coffee and I am enjoying it. Not sure what I will have for breakfast this morning.

Right now we have a temp of 32 degrees here, and we are going for a high of 52 or a little better than that, and it is shaping up to be a pretty nice day here in Sioux Falls. I hope the rest of you out there are all having a good day!

Good Sunday morning, everyone.  Sorry about getting in here so late.  Woke up at 4:15 this morning, went back to sleep about 2 hours later, and have now been awake for two hours this time.  Everyone else is still sleeping.

Joe, thank you so very much for taking care of everything this morning.

Our skies are cloudy and overcast.  We've had a little bit of rain this morning, and some heavier rain showers coming in sometime this afternoon.  I'm not sure what our low was, but our high today won't make it past the mid 50s mark.

Everyone have a good morning, keep safe and keep dry.

And we too have overcast / rain this morning.  Probably will be with us until early tomorrow morning.  Then, the "L" is to move on and we are to get into some pretty nice weather this coming week.....Up to 76 degrees by Thursday...!  That will be our warmest, if it occurs.

Temps are mild this morning.....48 earlier.

Glad I accomplished our yard mowing yesterday...It looks so nice and green and even this morning....Spring is here....!

Church is next.....a good day for all.

Went to the Central Plains Severe Weather Symposium in Lincoln today, and then watched trains at Camp Mookie. There were 12 trains in just under two hours, which is really pretty remarkable. BNSF sure knows how to put on a good show. The severe weather symposium was also very nice this year, with a good mix of speakers.

.Modelcar that special train could have been the ns buisness train.it was going to pick up 2 extra cars at Roanoke and go south to the masters.

Joe.....If I had to make a guess, I'd say you are correct as to what that "passenger train" was.....The ones {cars}, I did see, about a dozen, seemingly were the same dull maroon color, which leads me to believe it might have been the business train.

I sure was surprised to click on the site and see a passenger train spread all the way across my 16 X 9  ratio monitor....A nice site....

I'm seeing quite a bit of traffic from that rail cam....

Evening all. CW, thanks for supper!

We went up to Lafayette today to watch some trains. We saw 3! I took my new camera, and got good shots of all 3 of them. Here’s what happened.

We waited for about 10 minutes, when we saw a big blue GE blasting our way from the north. It was an Ex- LMS -8 locomotive with a super cab on the point with a mixed freight train. Then we saw a CSX -8 with a standard cab on it. It was struggling upgrade (Eastbound) with about 26 loads of grain. Then NS sent a WAY over-powered 9 car Extra train Eastbound. It had a -9, and an ES40DC. Here are the shots.

Here we see Ex-LMS DASH 8 #8457, and a sister DASH 8 blasting west with a long mixed freight train.

Here was the treat of the day. An old CSX DASH 8-40CW. She is equipped with a standard cab, but has the normal 4000 horsepower with GE's 16 cylnder (sp?) prime mover. She is really working hard here with 26 loads of grain pulling uphill toward her yard. The engineer recived an approach signal to the yard (about a mile and a half away.) So she doesn't have far to go, thankfully for her!

The last train of the day was the Extra 9354 that way WAY! overpowerd. She had a DASH 9 and a spanky new ES40DC pulling on her enormous 9 empty car train. A total of 8000 horses. I bet that poor CSX DASH 8 would have liked to have one of these loco's!

I hope you enjoyed the photo's. Let me know what you think. (AND BE HONEST! Smile)
Justin

Here's our pizza menu for tonight:

1.  Cheese

2.  Canadian bacon

3.  Goetta

4.  Hawaiian

5.  Pepperoni/mushroom

6.  Supreme

7.  Italian sausage

Our weather today has been pretty nice.  Currently sunny with a temp of 63, but on the breezy side.  Definitely need a jacket, or a light windbreaker w/a good lining in it.

Everyone have a good evening, keep safe and take care.

Still a pretty nice day.  First lawn mowing is in the record books now.  Looks really nice.  Good 'ol John deere started right up...

Question:  I am really surprised no comments of the Roanoke rail cam showing a rather long {non Amtrak}, passenger train....{Private cars....?}, passing thru at 10:13 this morning.....Any diner patron see it....if so, what do you to think it was.....I'm wondering if it had any thing to do with the Master's Tournament in Georgia.....??
