Willy - a few years ago, I didn't think you had 500 words in you!  You were pretty quiet for the first several meetings.

Sunny again today.  Does wonders for my mood!  Cats are lucky - they can find a sunny spot just about anywhere and lay in it.  Must move hammock to sunny window.

Backyard looks like spring - snow pretty much gone.  Front yard looks like dead winter.  Still lots of snow and all shaded and dark.  Ugh!

Was reminded by a friend that I haven't been in any mischief lately.  Must go find some.  Mischief

'Spring' has cuddled up ON the keyboard now---had to move him twice today---been a warm laptop---busy with paperwork--

Sometimes Tehachapi, our red tabby, will try to get onto the laptop, but Chessie usually has nothing to do with laptops. I think it wounds her dignity.

Just need to make it through today and tomorrow and then it's spring break. My midterm exam for World Literature is unique in that it is a take-home exam and it is entirely on the computer. We need to pose a scholarly (4-5 sentences) question on a particular text and upload it onto the class website. Then we respond to somebody else's question over a different text. Finally, we answer one of three questions that the professor will post. Each answer needs to be about 500 words. Even just a few years ago I never would have dreamed that I'd be taking exams like this.

Good Thursday morning, everyone.  Clouds are beginning to roll out of our area.  Current temp is 31 degrees, going to a high in the mid 40s today.

Coffee, juices, and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go.

On the serving station this morning:  your regular breakfast menu:  bagels, bear claws, turkey bacon, pork sausage, biscuits & sausage gravy.

I have to leave around 9:30 this morning; something is wrong with my knee brace, and I have to meet the brace man at the orthopedic surgeon's office at 11:00 to get the brace readjusted.  I tried to adjust it myself, but could'nt get it adjusted.

So, just in case I'm not back in time for lunch (hopefully, nothing will happen to prevent me from getting back home in time), last night's leftovers will be in the Crock Pots on warm, for you all.

Have a good morning, and take care, everyone.

Whew!  What a busy, busy day around here.  We got the bills all paid, did a little bit of grocery shopping, and fixed supper.  Ours here at home is still cooking, but the Cafe's is ready and on the serving station:

Roast, taters, carrots, shellie beans, corn, tossed salad and dinner rolls.

Larry, be sure and tell granddaughter Happy Birthday from all her "aunties and uncles at the Flat Wheel Cafe/Diner!  And be careful and safe on your trip there and back home.

Now, off to check emails, and might just find a few minutes for my farms and whatever else on facebook.

You all have a good evening, enjoy your supper, and take care.

Ms Mook - No problem.

Nice day here, too.  Got a chance to get a couple of fire trucks outside for a bath, and to do some work inside the station as well.

Gotta pack tomorrow, so I can hit the road bright and early Friday AM.  I understand that my granddaughter is definitely two, even though her birthday isn't until Saturday.   Her mom used the term "sassy..."  Should make for an interesting visit!

Last I knew, though, she still likes "Papa."  Big Smile

Mookie

We have sun again this morning.  I am so happy!!! Cool  Willy - maybe 50 this weekend for south Lincoln?

CW - FB was busy crossing wires last nite.  Had to keep slapping them around just to get in door.  Got to farms and was ok - but in and out was tricky.

Sir Chicken - our lot lines are guarded by black lines that you should have in your line of work.  No one can cross them unless they absolutely get permission from the owner.  And they are very straight!

I hate it when management brings an axe to work.  Never a good deal!  Seems like it seldom tops the tree (sorry Tree) but always manages to take out a few more roots!  Happened to me twice and now both trees are dead.  (sorry again Tree)

Think I will go drink my coffee and shut mah mouf.....

You and Tom, make room for three, I'll have an axe with me.(for Facebook.)

Mook, quit slapping so hard, please leave some for me!

Mudchicken, they are Very Straight lines!

[haven't found out where NS put that switch, may still be on a car(s) in the middle of Youngtown Yard.]

Mookie - I think 50, or at least upper 40s, will be attainable this weekend. However, there could be some rain (not snow!) on Saturday.

Good morning, and thanks Willy for the report on our precip. I wasn't able to find it. Can you send me a link? Thanks.

Currently, 37 and partly clear in Carolina. According to one source, it's not gonna change much, but we should have sunny skies until after the weekend. Aah, March!

Thanks, CW, for breakfast. Regarding FB, I didn't have any problems last night, but my home page was full of complaints from other folk having problems of one sort or another, I guess it was selective in it's operation.

Good morning Madamozle La Mook and everyone. 31 degrees and clear in Carolina nearing sunrise. The boffins are calling for, get this, .56 inches of rain later. One must endeavour to be accurate, I suppose. We shall see.

With that, see yall later. Stay safe

Well, Florence Regional Airport had a rainfall total of 0.53 inches. Not too bad, huh?

Good Wednesday morning, everyone.  We currently have 31 degrees outside, w/cloudy skies.  High today supposed to be around 39, 40 degrees.

Mookie, I was not able to get on the farm when I first went; apparently, they must have been down.  Tried at least 3 times, could not even get into their front door.  Even Walt could not get into facebook.  I finally got in about 8:30 last night.

Coffee, juices, and other morning beverages are freshly made and ready to go.

And on the warmer/serving station this morning:  The usual breakfast fare, ranging from the bagels & bear claws to biscuits, gravy, turkey bacon, sausage, etc., etc.

Going to be taking care of bills, and other errands this morning, into the afternoon, so leftover pork chop abracadbra, etc., will be available to you all for lunchtime.

Everyone have a good morning, and take care.

Going to the farm to wave at CW across our lot lines.  No snow there, either!

Has the cat been into Mud's how-to for survey-dummies book? (waving across lot lines)

Mutt: suspect that that panel turnout/switch is in at least two cars and possibly three or four if it's a high speed turnout (#20 or #24) ...A package turnout can be anywhere from 108 ft long (#9) to 265 feet long (#24) and those rascals are HEAVY!

Hoping Mooks doesn't trade in the net for an axe. Shock (The company axe was here today doing a little pruning and nobody was happy about it)

Afternoon, all.  Well, looks like we will be having our Tuesday Mexican Fiesta tonight.  On the warmer/serving station:

1.  Burritos (beef, beef & bean, beef enchilada style)

2.  Tacos (hard of soft shells)

3.  Spanish rice

4.  Chimichanga dinner

5.  Baja burgers

6.  Fajitas

7.  Mesquite-grilled steak, chicken or talpaia

8.  Shredded lettuce with diced tomatoes & onion (onion is on the side, just in case someone doesn't want onion)

Everyone enjoy, have a good evening, and take care.  I'm going to head on over to my farms, and see what I need to get done on them.

Sunshine and blue skies continue.....and 38 plus temp continues to work on our "old" snow....Since Feb. 7th.  About 85% of grass showing in lawn now.  Weather good enough that I just went thru the car wash with my truck.

Tree - pixel-like?  I also had to hunt for the axe.  Kind of like hidden picture/seek and find, but I found it.  That was fun.  Any more?

Normally there are two axes mounted on the back of the truck - in a mirror-image way.  If you found one, the other is supposed to be on the other side, handle-to-handle.

There are also two D handled "closet hook" pike poles mounted back there.

And yes, definitely pixel-like:

Here's the trucks in daylight:

Joe - I sent a NS on a junk train south to St Joe/KC area.  Behind an unpainted Santa Fe engine.  It was a nice change from the constant ugh orange.

Walt - got this all figured out.  We get social security and will start medicare and supplement this spring.  So you get $$$ from SS, they deduct medicare and your supplement out of it and send you approximately 60 cents in change.  And that is after 40 quarters for both and one almost full and one over full retirement age.

Ah yes....the older I get, the more I understand.  Worked with one man that was 75 and still working cuz he couldn't afford his insurance (his thinking), wife was within a year of SS age and had a major heart attack and now can't enjoy life with his widow and his retirement.

I need a good stiff drink - coffee black with a chaser of oj/metamucil.  Must go find a sunny corner.

Larry, thanks for that info. I've seen those reflectives on several pieces of apparatus around here, mainly the Suburban depts. (although city's Ladder No.1 has that on the back of the Tiller, can see that several blocks away.)(Sarah's dept. has some reflective material on their apparatus, but not like that.)

Mook, 40 quarters!  How did you know that's how much we would get?! ($) I understand that there are a few Philly Lawyers that don't understand that stuff.

Stiff drink and Sunny corner sounds great, don't need the "chaser" just yet.

Maybe as I age another year or two, or three, I'll understand that stuff a bit better.

To our newest member of the Cafe, Tyler, I think, friend of Justin; sorry I'm just now getting around to welcoming you here........No Alcohol, No Cussing, and for Heavens Sake; Don't MIFF the Cat or the Cook!

Even though it is still a bit "chilly" outside, (38 degrees) thinking about getting the camera and doing a bit of railfanning....seems the NS is doing some MOW here close to the house.

(got to get out, can't wait on people sending me emails, or phone calls about the National Guard stuff....according to all the voice-mails I got yesterday, it will be the middle of next month before I hear from anybody!)

Heard on the scanner yesterday, that they were trying to find a place in the yard to put a car(s) with a panel switch. Have no idea where it's supposed to go, maybe I can find out.

......Jen, you are describing the "golden years".....

And that supplement is important to have with your Medicare, for sure.  Pick a good one and you will find it does quite well.  Example: Mutual of Omaha.....Plan F.  And if drug ins. is needed:  AARP MedicareRx Preferred.   Disclaimer....Not recommendations, just suggestions to take a look at.

Larry, are the reflective materials on the backs of the apparatus a mandated thing?  I know that they are easier to see in the dark.  [for most people that are not somehow impaired.]

It's in the NFPA standards, which aren't law but are sometimes interpreted as such.  It's definitely an option on new apparatus - you won't see as much diamondplate there as you used to.

They actually recommend the flourescent version - I just couldn't bring myself to use that.  I used straight yellow and red.

I've seen pictures of rigs with the front bumper striped as well.

Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  Our current temp this morning is 32 degrees, going for a high in the low 40s again today.  Will be mostly cloudy again today.

Coffee, juices, and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Mookie, here's your coffee mug.

On the warmer/serving station this morning:  bagels, bear claws, oatmeal, toast, turkey bacon, pork sausage, biscuits & gravy.

And just in case Walt is back on the computer, doing paperwork for his pension, I've got the Crock Pots/slow cookers going with pork chop abracadbra, so you all will have something for lunch today.  And this evening, guess we'll have Mexican Fiesta, unless you all tell me something different you want tonight.

Guess I'll go start getting ready for Tuesday Produce, and feed the cats and the doggie Win-Win.  See you all later, and everyone take care.
