Good evening. CW, a tank top is a bit out of place just yet, but people are curious creatures. I remember going to a drugstore a few years ago when we had a fair amount of snow and seeing a woman all bundled up in overcoat, muffler and gloves, and BAREFOOT! You never can tell with some folk. 42 and clear right now. Everyone take care

Jack, hope everything goes all right for you Monday!  Keep us informed on how you're doing, okay?

Anyone ready for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest?  Here's the menu:

1.  Canadian bacon

2.  Cheese w/extra cheese

3.  Goetta

4.  Hawaiian

5.  Pepperoni/mushroom

6.  Supreme

7.  Italian sausage

I haven't heard the high yet for today.  But Sarah has been out in the back yard, working on her cinder block wall.  Walt took Win-Win out for a bit, and I've been to the grocery, getting food for everyone.

It has really been a sunshiny day around here.  While I was waiting for the bus, over by the car wash, you wouldn't belive what I saw:  a woman with a tank top on!  It wasn't that warm/hot to call for anyone with any common sense at all, to be wearing a tank top today!  It has been breezy, and coolish in shady areas.

You all have a great evening, enjoy your pizzas, and take care.

Nice day!  Around 40 and actually rolled down one window in Millie!  Sat trackside for about 2 hours and watched the powers that be @ BNSF discuss a loaded coal train derailment.  We could only see one gon off the rails for sure - it was torqued like a badly broken leg, but remained upright and kept its load.  Breakfast interferred with our being there when it happened.  We try to keep the excitement down.

Trivia:  On this nice sunny day we see reported, we have a 9 million dollar winner here in Muncie on Hoosier Lotto yesterday....That would make the day really nice.  Believe it's a retired fellow and he will purchase a "new truck".....Has played the same 6 numbers for 20 years.  Made sure I purchased a {one}, Lotto ticket today, as we usually do....Actually two a week.....One for Wed. too.

Plus it also is reported this morning the local newly located headquarters and almost ready manufacturing facility of Brivini Wind....makers of massive gear sets for wind powered power producing windmills....has reported of a new contract of 100 million dollars on an order from I believe it said Finland.

And more orders pending they can't relate yet, so...that one or so miles of railroad spur that must be built in from the Frankfort NS line better soon get under way as it will be needed to transport out the products.

Good afternoon, CW  and everybody. Thanks for breakfast. It's 53 and bright sunshine in Carolina. The girls are outside sunning themselves, and refusing to come inside. It looks like it will be nice for the next couple of days. Everyone take care

Good Saturday AM to all. Warm in AZ now. I went to Cubs-Diamondbacks game in Mesa yesterday and it was 75 at 2:30.

Going for my MRI Monday morning at 8::00 and will see what needs to be done for my lower back. Xray shows disc and arthritic damage but MRI should help analyze possible mitigation proceedures.

.....More sunshine, no clouds, but 25 degrees earlier this morning.  To reach near 50 today, so nice {late Winter}, weather continues.  Note, our morning paper indicates of 50 some degrees thru next Friday for daily highs.

Tulips are poking up thru the ground here....

It is so very nice to know, that Winter will be fleeing instead of approaching.

Good Saturday morning, everyone.  Sarah and I made it back home by about 9 p.m, we ate supper, and then the three of us watched 2012.  That's a pretty darn good movie, if none of you have seen it.  I think it was after 1 a.m, when I got to bed, and immediately fell asleep.  Didn't wake up until after 7 this morning (I had help waking up, Trapper decided to come and wake me up!).

Joe, thank you so very much for making breakfast this morning.  Those cinnamon rolls sure do look and taste exceptionally good this morning.

As Walt said last night, half the things we needed, Walmart was out of.  I called to check on the cartridges we need for the printer, before I left.  So, by the time I got down there, they were sold out of them.  It was the one we need most, the black cartridge.  So, after I came home, I went online to Staples, and one should be here Tuesday, by good ole UPS.

We have a temp of 27 this morning, going for a high of 55, with cool breezes, and plenty of sunshine.

Everyone have a great day, and I'll see you all back here, around 6 p.m., for our pizza fest.

Morning all.

Going to be another STUNNING day here in western Indiana. Waiting on the last battery to charge before we go trackside at 8:00. Again, I’m going rail-fanning in hopes of catching some Thoroughbred trains (NS). Joe, thanks for the well wishes. Have they got that double stack train derailment cleaned up yet?

Thought I’d come by and say good morning, and have something to eat(And like Mz. Mook, I’d like a to go coffee if you would. )

Hope you all have a very good Saturday.

Justin

Hmmm - True Midwest seems to be only place getting much "weather".  We have snow, rain, mixed and dry.  Had rain overnite - heard it in the gutters ouside our window.  Dry now.  Supposed to be reasonably nice today, so will venture out.

Coffee to go, please.

Deggesty

Good afternoon from the Crossroads of the West. We had about three inches of snow last night out here in the valley--the first appreciable snowfall in the valley in several weeks. It did not stick to the pavement here, but it did cause some trouble east ofhere. The ski resorts had about a foot and a half.

Just think: in nine days, we all (except for the good people in Arizona) start getting up an hour earlier if we have to be anywhere at a certain time! As much as we ourselves prefer to stay on the same standard year-round, we have to comply. To avoid the shock of losing an hour of sleep in one night, Ricki and I start going to bed ten minutes earlier each night until we reach the one hour total. Why may we not observe one standard all year long?

Just came in to se if the "warmer bar" needed freshing up; CW as said earlier has gone to Wally World to get some things we need, she called on her cell phone not long ago informing me that half the stuff we want and Need, is out of stock....Go Figure!

Johnny, why does the Govt. have to mess with anything, Uh...nevermind...............Clown

Looks like we've had a very slow morning.  Here's the menu for the rest of the day:

FISH:  Cod, halibut, haddock, perch, salmon patties, tuna and talapia

SIDE DISHES:  Cole slaw, corn on the cob, baked beans, fries, hush puppies, fried breaded mushrooms, macaroni & cheese, potato salad

DESSERTS:   Chocolate cake, yellow cake w/chocolate icing, white cake w/coconut icing, apple, cherry and peach cobblers and pecan pie.

Getting ready to go catch a bus in a couple of hours, to go to Walmart.  We desparately need printer cartridges and printer paper, along with some rechargable AA batteries.  And I may even look at some yarn for myself.  Not sure about that one, though.

Everyone enjoy, have a great afternoon, and I'll see you all later.

Have a good day everyone. I’ll see you tonight for supper.

Good Friday morning, everyone.  It looks like we were quite busy in here yesterday and last night!  Justin, welcome back.

Coffee, juices, and other morning beverages are fresh and ready to go.  Including the hot water for our hot tea drinkers.

And on the serving station:  bagels, bear claws, along with an assortment of doughnuts, danish, and muffins.

Our temp got up to 45 yesterday, but it was very breezy out,and that breeze was quite brisk.  I  think we're supposed to get into the upper 40s today, possibly 50 degrees, with more sunshine.

Mookie, guess neither one of us has gotten into any mischief lately.  Hmm, think we need a planning session, to see what ideas we can come up with!WinkEvil

Everyone have a very good morning, and take care.

Afternoon all.

It has been a while since I’ve been in here. I have missed you all, and taking part in our conversations.

It is NICE to day! It was about 50*, now it’s about 43, but that’s still a heat wave compared to the 15* temps we have had these past few weeks.

Have a good evening.

Evening. Got caught up in something and missed checking in this morning. It has been a partly clear day and currently is 54. Tomorrow and Saturday should be up in the 60s if the boffins can be believed. I guess the worst is past, although a few things may pop up here and there till the fat lady sings.  Everyone have a great evening and be careful out there. People's crazy nowadays!

Q - very possible.  Our landlord also insulated the attic some more right before they did the gutters.

Now if he will just do the windows!  Thumbs Up

Mookie

Maybe you have good gutters....Approve

I suppose that is possible Jen.....only one location all around the house that seems to require a bit of cleaning in the Summer, and that is a courtyard like shaped space, where there is practicly no sloop on the guttering, near the front door....The remaining lengths of guttering seem to stay clear.

I do wonder though....if some of the structures I'm seeing with this icicle issue if heat is not escaping at the very outside edge of the inside ceiling where insulation  may be at a minimum causing the freezing and thawing cycle.

Quentin - we had enormous icicles hanging from our 2nd story until our landlord put in all new gutters.  Now we have some, but they stay pretty small.  Driver has always used a long stick he has to knock them down and now only uses a broom handle.  These are the covered gutters that keep out the twigs and leaves.

Maybe you have good gutters....Approve

There is a railroad museum housed in the old Union Pacific passenger depot down in Cheyenne, and the exhibits there are very well done.

.....That is one place that seems to stick in my mind as we traveled across the nation by train back over 55 years ago {for Uncle Sam}, and we stopped briefly there and we could get to the vestibules on our passenger cars and with half open doors, we could get to the fresh air and that smelled so good.....Something about that remains very clear in my memory.

Temp climbing quickly.....Bright sunshine in clear blue skies....Spring is in the distance and perhaps Winter is waning.....And that's great.

Several snow piles around the drive way to our home, but almost 100% bare yard visible now.   Have already started to think if I want to get a roller and roll our lawn....or hire someone to do it, but the time to get it done is approaching fast.  Need it to be good and moist when it's done to be really effective.  Did it last season {myself}, and that was the first in years, and it certainly helped it to be smoothed out....Want the same or better results this season.

Wife just drove away in our automoble to  run thru the car wash, which is indicating how our streets and weather are around us now...Pretty good.

March is a transition month here, and any kind of weather can appear, but it certainly looks nice now.

I've noticed in the past several weeks some buildings {and homes included}, have had monstrous ice hanging from overhangs and spouting...but not on most....Wonder what made the difference.  Our across street neigbors have been in Florida all Winter and at one place on their home the ice cycles almost touch the ground......??

None on our house roof overhang at all....{glad there wasn't}, but don't have that figured out....I realize if heat is escaping up to the underside of a roof, it can melt and freeze and build up and if enough, can back up water to the point it will back up under the shingles and cause leaks....

Anyway....It appears to be a very nice late Winter day unfolding.

Good morning from Gillette, Wyoming! I am still out here with my sister and her husband, and I could be here for another week or two before I head for home in Sioux Falls, SD. We are experiencing a warming trend here in Gillette, the temp here is supposed to get up to 61 degrees! Of course, out here in the flatlands of Wyoming it never gets very cold.

My sister and I have an aunt and uncle who live down in Estes Park, Colorado, and we went down there to visit them last week. The roads were good the whole trip. I saw a lot of coal trains on both the U.P. and the BNSF on the way down there and then again on our way home.

There is a railroad museum housed in the old Union Pacific passenger depot down in Cheyenne, and the exhibits there are very well done. The old roundhouse is still standing in the yard down there in Cheyenne, and had my sister and I gotten there a bit earlier, we could have taken a tour of the roundhouse itself, and seen both of the Union Pacific's operational steam locomotives; #844 and #3985. I was able to get pictures of a Big Boy class 4-8 + 8 -4 #4004, which is sitting in a park about ten blocks from the depot/museum. It is sitting behind a chain link fence. I noticed that the paint on the fireman's side of the boiler is peeling......not good!

My sister here in Gillette works for a dentist and I had my teeth cleaned here about 3 weeks ago. I had an abcessed tooth which needed to come out, so my sister set me up with an oral surgeon here in Gillette, and the tooth came out the day before yesterday. I was amazed at how quckly this doctor had it out once he had numbed me up! Now I need to get used to this one upper molar in my right side being gone, and my upper jaw is going to be a bit numb for a while.
