Good  Wednesday morning, everyone.  Well, our official snow fall is  six and a half inches, from the NWS out at the airport.  Even though the main roads and intertstates are clear, the secondary roads are still snow and ice covered; so the schools are closed again today, along with some businesses.

Coffee, juices and assorted hot beverages are fresh and ready to go.

On the serving station this morning:  blueberry muffins, bagels, bear claws, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, tater tots, oatmeal, toast and jellies, marmalades, jams and preserves and hot buttermilk biscuits.

Mookie, here's your coffee mug, with coffee in it.  Everyone have a good morning, and stay warm and take care.

Ms. Mookie;  sinus and or rhinitus is not a very good feeling when you turn your head,  then try to remain standing.  Them " dizzys "  are awful. Iam' on the 5th day of the pills on the 7day card. Other than that, when the room stops spinning~~~~ everything is OK.  Time for some sassefrasse tea.

The radar says we're getting some occasional preciptitation, but I think it's fibbing, as there's nothing falling out of the sky right now.

They do promise that I'll have to shovel my driveway again, but I'm not going to hold them to it.

Winter update.....Just had a call from Florida...{across street neighbors}, and they said it was too cold to swim today.....So they have been having a bit of cool stuff down there too...

Here...our update on our weather going thru:  Now...16 degrees, and it looks like we've received about 3" of the stuff today.  Not bad.

I have replenished the soup and stew on the serving station, along with more   just-made sandwiches and cornbread.  And I also made some sugar cookies this afternoon, for dessert tonight.

Walt just came in to warm his hands some.  Said it looks like we got 6 to 7 inches, depending on where in the yard you measure.  It's already started drifting some.  And we're still getting a nice snow shower right now.

Mookie, I think I'm going to take a cue from you, and head over to my farms.  I still have two that I need to check on for today.

You all enjoy your supper, have a nice, comfortable evening, staying warm, keeping safe, etc.

Afternoon all.

More snow came this morning and school was canceled. I imagine that it will too tomorrow as the wind is supposed to pick up, the wind is really blowing, and, and the snow is comming down thick the way it is now, and we could get another 4 inches of snow. In the meantime I’m just setting here drinking coffee waiting on something to do.

Have a good safe evening.

Justin

.....So far, we're below the amount of snow they have been forecasting for this new round of snow.....just 2" from overnight to late this morning....Not snowing now.  But that is what they have indicated....Perhaps more later today and maybe tomorrow for a total of anywhere from 4 to 10".  But with just the 2" so far, maybe we'll luck out with a lower figure.

32.2 degrees now and calm winds.  To be more wind after the final snow tomorrow.  Much drier snow here this time too.....

Udate:    Started snowing about 2:15, but it's just light snow and the sky is bright, so right now, no deep cloud cover....

My son relates that they are expecting 10-20" around DC.  The weather folks think this may be a drier snow than what fell over the weekend, but that doesn't change the fact that, as my son points out, they have no place to put it.

Another windy and cold day in Omaha. Kind of interesting though. The temperature started off at five below zero, but between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. it rose from 8 degrees to 23 degrees. Not too bad.

I had an orthodontist appointment this morning before school. He said he'll probably be able to take my braces off before the end of the school year, which is very good news.

Everyone stay safe and drive carefully, especially if the roads are slick.

Decided to stay home today, and let everyone else play bumper cars on the streets and highways.  Made a good decision, as when I was walking from the hardware store to the grocery store, watched two semis near jackknife on the slushy city streets.  Working on the model railroad a bit (anyone know how to remove Kato coupler pins from the frame without destroying anything?), working on the roadbed now.

See everyone later....

Good afternoon, everyone.  The roads around here are slushy, but the bitter cold is coming in soon from the west/northwest in the next little bit.  So the temps will start dropping, and the  slush in the streets, will start refreezing.

We did not have Tuesday Produce this morning.  The lady in charge wasn't coming, and I really didn't want to get out, plus we both figured that the Dare to Care trucks wouldn't be out making deliveries, anyway.  And I guess we were correct, as I haven't seen one come by the house (and it comes by our house, before it gets to the Center).  We haven't seen much of anything go by, except for the mailman.  Neither Walt nor I have felt like getting all bundled up, just to go out with the yard stick or a ruler, to check how much snow we actually have in our yard.

I see the wind is beginning to pick up:  the branches on our pine tree are swaying in the breeze.  Not enough yet, to knock the snow off the branches.

For lunch today (and maybe for supper tonight, unless someone wants something different):

1.  Vegetable beef soup w/your choice of grilled cheese, tuna, turkey or PB&J sandwiches

2.  Beef stew (freshly made this morning) w/fresh-from-the oven cornbread

Everyone take care, stay safe, and be very careful, if you do have to go out.

Good morning from Wyoming. I am enjoying my third day here and the temp here in Gillette is about 5.5 degrees above 0. It is supposed to warm up to about 27 degrees later this afternoon.

I have a dental appointment later this morning and I am not looking forward to it, although my sister Cindy told me last night that "Kathy" has a real gentle approach when she works with patients in cleaning their teeth.

And while I am in this region of the country, my sister has hinted that we might make the drive down to Estes Park, Colorado to visit an aunt and uncle of ours. That should be fun, as I haven't seen them in a few years.

Mookie, if you have a sinus infection, I hope you are able to get rid of it quickly. I've had sinus infections before, and they can make ya feel pretty darned rotten.

Wow - I brought a suitcase of sympathy with me this morning.  Like Tree, we are pretty used to storms like everyone east of us is having.  Have been housebound for a week twice in my short life with no electricity and snow up to my eyebrows.  It is no fun and would not wish it on anyone.

Like Tom - I seem to be much older than I was last nite.  Feels like a paper shredder just unloaded in my head.  Been really working hard to get a sinus infection again this year.  So far not there - but the year is young.

Joe - you and Matt will have to just play on the layout today.  Be careful shoveling.  Most men shouldn't shovel after the age of 19.....

Off to do some farming....Big Smile

Good Tuesday morning, folks.  Well, so far, at 6:54 a.m., we have about 3 and a half inches on the ground.  Temp is in the upper 20s, and our 'high' today is to be 32, and the temps will start dropping.  All the area schools are closed, and there are quite a few businesses closed, also.  Even the University of Louisville is closed.  Don't know if the Dare to Care Produce truck will show up or not.  So far, there isn't anyone parked out front!  (And personally, I hope it stays that way.)

Coffee, juices, and other hot beverages are fresh and ready to go this morning.

On the serving station this morning:  oatmeal, toast, bacon, sausage, grits, biscuits & gravy, along with the regular bagels and bear claws.

Everyone enjoy your breakfast, have a good day, stay warm, safe and take care.

Could it be another 1936?

The Spring of 1936 was the 2nd devastation of Johnstown, Pa....Yes, from a massive flood.

.....And I do remember it.....Have a memory of being down there and at some relative's home, and remember mud was probably several ft. thick inside....Of course, this was after the flood waters resided, etc......

That was when it flooded from Ohio to New England. The Connecticut river flooded Springfield, Ma very much. Was a winter of much snow then a thaw with a very hard rain. Many rivers had ice jams. If it happens this year do not call me a prophet!!

As I work at the computer, I have on in the background a scanner feed from Calvert County, MD.

It's Monday evening, and their road crews are still going at it, with no end in sight from the last snowfall.   Now they're getting more.

It's very obvious from listening to them that they are not used to this.  Had the same snowfall occurred here, or anywhere in the northern tier, the plow crews might be out tidying up, but they'd have had the roads cleared by Sunday morning, when the sun did come up.

All of this snow makes me wonder. What if we have an early spring thaw and then rain on top of the thaw? Could it be another 1936?

I think I must have a target pasted on me, we are supposed to get the brunt of it this time around, NWS is predicting 8 to 14 or 9 to 17 inches, depending on what math one uses.  Might have an extra day off tomorrow, as I don't care to drive in this weather.

Got back from the Walthers outlet a little while ago, bought more track and switches for the layout, and bought a structure to be my scrap paper building for my paper mill complex.  Might have time to work on some of it tomorrow.....

See everyone later.....

Well, according to the latest weather report a few minutes ago, our snow is to start around 8 p.m.; by midnight, we'll have an inch or two; a couple more inches by 8 a.m tomorrow, and then by sometime late afternoon, early evening, a total of 6 inches.

CW, and Walt,

Happy anniversary! I hope you have many more!

Snow has come here in western Indiana. We got 6 inches with more coming tonight. I hope that on one will be hurt in the impending blizzard.

Have a good evening,

Justin

Jack, you are very welcome!  And here is the dinner/supper menu for tonight:

1.  Steak, baked potatoes, string beans, and tossed salad, along with corn, and crescent dinner rolls (I know Jack's steak is medium rare, along with a few of you other folks)

2.  Chicken & dumplins

And for dessert, the chocolate sheet cake (don't worry about the candles, Jack, as I have a couple of # candles, a 7 and an 8), so we'll be giving Larry and our other resident firefighters a break, tonight.  There's also several flavors if ice cream to go with the birthday cake.

Everyone enjoy your supper, have a good evening ,and take care.
