Good Friday morning, everyone. We're starting the day out with a very cold 16 degrees this morning. Very clear skies. Our high today is supposed to be in the upper 20s, possibly reach 30. The wind chill will be in the single digits.
Coffee, juices, hot chocolate, hot cider and hot water for tea are fresh aand ready to go.
On the serving station, all kinds of doughnuts, ranging from cake doughnuts, yeast doughnuts, the chocolate icing ones, the cream filled ones, vanilla filled ones, danish, muffins, bagels and bear claws.
Mookie, here's your coffee mug, and by the way, you don't have to wait for me to go to the farm, in order to get any brownies, or whatever. You know you have free access to this place!
Everyone have a good morning, keep safe, stay warm and take care.
Mookie Quentin - You missed Willie Geist in Canada, shopping. He normally is sitting, but today they showed him standing talking to people. That young man must be close to 7 feet tall! He towers over everyone!

Jen.....Yes, I realize Willie is really tall....both he and Joe. But believe Willie is a bit taller than Joe. I agree, he is well into and upwards in the 6' measurement. Willie is very talented too....With a deadpan look on his face...I like him. I did see him some a bit later in the show today.....

Willy - they didn't arrive.
Tree - after your remark on the fire dog, it put that engine in a whole new light! Brought a smile to mah face!
While CW is farming, I am going brownie testing....
I've replenished the Italian spaghetti on the serving station, got more garlic bread baked, and also made more tossed salad for tonight.
And there's more brownies on the serving station for dessert, along with some mixed fruit flavored Jell-O. Or, if you prefer, you can have ice cream or whipped cream on your brownie (s).
Think I'll be heading over to facebook, and check on my farms.
Mookie Omaha sez we may get "snow grains" during the day. Another new word for my weather vocabulary.
Omaha sez we may get "snow grains" during the day. Another new word for my weather vocabulary.
"Snow grains" is recognized by the National Weather Service as being official terminology. Specifically, snow grains are "Precipitation consisting of white, opaque ice particles usually less than 1 mm in diameter" (NWS Glossary).

MookieQ - by the 2nd hour - the fun is all over. Today was just politics as usual with a good dose of common sense from a guest.
Yes, I figured the earliest part is probably the best, and really, the back and forth political part is what I'd really like to see.....but, generally I get awake a bit after 7...{6, your time}, and by the time I get coffee, etc......it's about the half hour point of the 2nd hour....Still a bit lively at times.
I like the back and forth with Mica and Joe at times.....She even gets to pound on him a bit sometimes.......
.....That nice blue sky there in D C is very much how our's here in central Indiana....has looked today. 28 degrees right now.
DC this morning (courtesy of my son):
He didn't say, but I suspect they were out looking for hydrants. They don't have a fire dog at their station...
That's military housing.
Q - by the 2nd hour - the fun is all over. Today was just politics as usual with a good dose of common sense from a guest. I start with them about 5:15 and by 6:30, they have really calmed down. Me too!
On another thread, Mookie asked if she could ship some snow to the Pacific Northwest. It might be easier to ship some to the Wasatch Front (closer), and if it falls on the west slope, it will be received gladly. About seven this morning, we had a light coating of snow on the lawn, and it was still snowing. By ten, the grass was in full evidence again, and there was only a little snow left in the back yard. Perhaps the ski resorts received two or three inches. Southern Utah is ahead on its water year, but Northern Utah is behind.

Good afternoon, everyone. We have nice sunshine, and are to get to 30 degrees today.
For our lunch/dinner menu:
Italian spaghetti w/garlic bread, tossed salad
For dessert, we have strawberry flavored Jell-O w/mixed fruit in it and the brownies left from last night.
I went back to bed and sleep this morning: man, was that a mistake: I woke up with a headache Although, it could be a sinus headache, since it is right in the middle of my forehead, just above the bridge of my nose.
Everyone enjoy your meal, afternoon, and take care.
Mookie Q - watched a good "Morning Joe" this morning. Left me with "Methinks thou hath lost thine own common sense...."
Q - watched a good "Morning Joe" this morning. Left me with "Methinks thou hath lost thine own common sense...."
Jen, I too was watching Morning Joe, yesterday as I do almost every morning, but right now...not recalling what had them fired up....Maybe I missed what you are referring to as I generally don't start watching to sometime in the 2nd hr.
Temp now in low 20's.....but with bright sunshine in blue sky. A respite from Winter snow for a few days.
Item: Morning paper had two photos locally here with volunteer fire dept. dousing a blazing fire shooting out the top of a NS engine on a train that was coming in to Muncie from the south....It said "a small fire in engine room" {paraphrasing}....Fire Co. was from a small community just south of us: Cowan.
Probably can be seen at MuncieStarPress.com
Good morning from Gillette, Wyoming. Yeah, I'm still out here and there is hardly any snow here at all. And it is supposed to warm up to about 36 degrees here this afternoon. Right now the the temp here is about 25, and in Sioux Falls, South Dakota we have 4 degrees above 0.And from where I am sitting, I will not complain.
The Gillette area here in Wyoming is kind of a baren wasteland, but I hope to get up into the Bighorn Mountains this weekend. I've got a neice who lives up in Sheridan and I will get to see her while I'm here.
I hope the rest of you will all have a very good day. Stay warm!
ooo ooo ooOOOoo
Off to deal with the Cook County circus.
Maybe some of CW's coffee with help. Gonna need a lot of it!

Good morning. 30 and clear in Carolina at sunrise. It is supposed to get up to 54 today and drop to 24 tonight. When I look at videos of what those north of here are going thru, I realize how blessed we are here. Paula, thanks for breakfast and everyone have a great day.

Good Thursday morning, everyone. Starting off the day with a temp around 22 degrees, and our local JCPS school system is on a one hour delay. There are still others in the area that will be closed for a third day in a roll, due to very icy, slick back streets. But we're supposed to see more sunshine today, with a high in the upper 20s, low 30s. Maybe some of this snow will start melting.
Coffee, juices, milk, hot chocolate, and the other hot beverages are fresh and ready to go. And on the serving station, you'll find the regular breakfast menu, ranging from the bagels and bear claws to biscuits and gravy.
Mookie, here's your coffee mug, fresh out of the dishwasher.
You all have a good morning, and if anyone has any meal suggestions, just let me know. Apparently no one liked the Mexican Fiesta last night, since no one was in here, after Justin was in yesterday afternoon.
Afternoon all.
Snow is drifting in the 19 mph. winds. They are gusting to 25 mph. at times. The plows have given up on the highway‘s. Looks like the wind will die down tonight though. We have been placed on a 2 hour delay for school tomorrow. Might cancel it again if this drifting stuff keeps up though.
CW, thanks for the Chimmechongas. Good stuff there!
Be safe,
Justin

We're doing rather well here....Had wind rearrange snow overnight, but overcast with flurries at time, but it is very bright out now. And 30 plus in temp. Had some young fellows do our driveway again this morning from the blowing snow over night....Maybe another inch overnight.
Willy: You, Houston Ed and I always get this same crud every year. So far, you and HE really have it and I am "skirting" the issue.
Afternoon, all. Well, we have already gone past our projected high of 23 today; we currently have 30 degrees, with nice sunshine: something we haven't seen for about a week?
On the serving station this afternoon: Mexican Fiesta:
1. Burritos (beef, beef & bean, beef deluxe enchilada style)
2. Tacos (hard shell and soft shell)
3. Chimichangas
4. Fajitas
5. Quesadillas
6. Enchiladas
7. Spanish Rice
There's also tortilla chips w/any kind of sauce you'd like for dipping.
For Dessert today: we have sugar cookies and brownies
You all enjoy, keep warm this afternoon, keep safe and take care.
Mookie Willy - I think we are going to survive the winter of 09-10. Got any big plans for a surprise winter event before the spring whatevers?
Willy - I think we are going to survive the winter of 09-10. Got any big plans for a surprise winter event before the spring whatevers?
Well, I think temperatures are going to stay below normal for at least the next two weeks. The normal high for today is 36. That will only increase to 38 by the end of the month.
We have a shot at some more light snow late this week and this weekend, but nothing major. Watch for late February and the first half of March. That's usually when we get into a southwest flow pattern, which is more favorable for strong, dynamic storm systems. Meteorologist Jim Flowers in Omaha says that he expects 15 inches of snow in March, so there may be some surprises ahead.
As for me, I have a cold or sinus infection, which seems to be the popular complaint these days. I knew it was only a matter of time.
Cloudy here - snow to the south of me, but my driveway is still bare.
Haven't heard from MD, but looking at the DC traffic cams indicates they've got a mess. There is still traffic moving, though, so they aren't completely snowed in.
Off to morning errands (mail, newspaper), then on to some project or another.
Sun shining brightly here... Really hate to even mention that - but will make it all better by saying it is now - mmmm - 1 above!
Cannonball - I had the dizzy spells about 2 years ago - along with migraines - made a straight path to dr since I wasn't sure what it was. Big relief to find out it was only a sinus infection - had never had one before. Trying to be very careful - those dizzy spells are awful!
CW - coffee helps so much. Only need one cup per day to work wonders.
Earthquake near Chicago - think Sir Chicken is in area doing research in file cabinets. Think he may have shut one a little hard? More rain in CA - snow in DC - well that is always a snow job pretty much year round. Hate to tell Tree, but they will be using MD for a snowman - carrot courtesy true mid-west....
Off to grow some more corn!
Morning
The school computer called last night and said Matt was closed again today. The snow has stopped now we are just getting the blowing and drifting part. We'll see in the paper tonight how many cars had their ditchfinders on.Going to take matt sledding in town today. We will also look to see how much extra snow csx has on the trains.back to work tonight.
