Good Tuesday morning, everyone.  Brian, it's good to see that you were in last night:  long time no see, stranger!Smile,Wink, & Grin  How are you doing, after your eye surgery?  Everything still going o.k.?

Well, we have a little bit of snow on the grassy areas this morning, nothing too bad, streets are wet, but traffic is moving along all right.  Don't think I'll have too much of a problem with Tuesday Produce this morning.

Coffee, juices and hot beverages are all freshly made and ready to go this morning.

On the serving station this morning:  all the regular breakfast menu items (bacon ,sausage, eggs, bagels, bear claws, etc.), so just mosey on over to the serving station and fill your plates.

Speaking of "moseying along", heard on the news this morning that actor Purnell Roberts, who played Adam Cartwright on Bonanza, and Trapper John, M.D., as passed away at age 81.  With  his demise, that leaves none of the "Cartwrights" left, and the only starring member of the cast left, is David Canary, who played Candy, after Purnell Roberts left the show.  For those of us in our  50's, 60's, and over, that doesn't leave too many people left, that we all watched on TV growing up.

Everyone enjoy your breakfast, have a good morning, keep safe, take care and I'll see you all after I get through with the Produce people.

Good evening, Diner Denizens.  Thought I'd duck in here during the short period when the internet is cooperating for me, something that seems to be rare in my house lately.  Mediacom is sending someone over tomorrow to investigate the problem, which is also affecting our phone service occasionally.

Murray - they discussed whataburger several years ago here on the forum.  It was unanimous - evidently they are very good..

In-and-out Burger in CA is also good and we don't have that one either!

Mookie, you mentioned gold in one of your most recent posts. I once took a surface tour of the Homestake Mining Company's operation in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The mines at Homestake have long since been shut down and there are some people who would like to turn the mine into an underground physics lab of some sort. I have a better idea. The Yates shaft is some 8 thousand feet in depth, and the Homestake mine could serve as sort of a final resting place for a lot of our corrupt politicians. Let's give them the shaft, in other words. Evil

This is almost as good a use for abandoned mines as raising sheep in abandoned iron ore mines--and shearing them for their steel wool.

Is it Feb-i-nary yet?

Culvers has the best chee-burgers.

Now about the smore....someone knock it on the floor for me? ^~^

"Culvers has the best cheeseburgers." ABSOLUTELY! But here in Sioux Falls, the nearest Culvers is about 3 miles southwest of my house. So a cheeseburger from the Flat Wheel Cafe & Diner tonight will have to suffice.

Right now we have 1 degree above 0 and with blizzard conditions, the winds are out of the northwest at up to 35 mph, so I'm not going anywhere tonight.

I like cheeseburgers!

The rain has stopped.  The wind is here, and it's about 15 degrees colder now than at 5 AM today.

Spent part of the afternoon dealing with a flooded basement (not mine, though).   Now that the rain has stopped, the water running into basements has subsided somewhat.

They're talking lake effect for tomorrow and Wednesday, which may replace some of the snow that melted with our January thaw.

Are the fries ready?

Yippee

Yep, you've got it Bob!  Everything is ready and on the serving station.  So you all go ahead, and help yourselves.

Last weather report I heard:  still getting the snow flurries (looks like more than flurries to me, looking out the front door), and should get only about a half inch or less accumulation by tomorrow.  But, when Friday rolls around, they are looking for us to get 3 to 5 inches of snow.  Oh well, that's the way the cookie crumbles, the ball bounces, etc.

Everyone enjoy your supper, have a good evening, keep safe and take care.  (OH, and Joe, glad to see you decided to actually pop in, without lurking!)

Good afternoon, all.  Well, I've had a busy day so far:  1.  Went to the grocery early this morning, and got a few much needed items for the next week.  Got home, put them away and 2:  went on another errand to for some more food items elsewhere.

Zardoz, welcome back.  I missed you, also.  And you are more than welcome to come in here any and every time you like!

Now, Walt and Sarah are gone, to get the rest of the errands taken care of.

Mookie, the smores sound like a good idea.  So there are some made and on the serving station.  Cannonball, thanks for the firewood!  That will definitely come in handy around here.

For supper tonight, we'll have here in the Cafe/Diner:

1.  Cheeseburgers from the WC Lounge, otherwise known as White Castle.

2.  Grilled pork chops w/bone in, along with corn on the cob, broccoli w/cheese sauce, and garden salad.

Looks like we're having a little lull in the snow flurries/light snow showers department.  Before they left, Walt took some recycling out to the bin, and he said it was really coming down.  I didn't look out, though.  When I went out on my first trip this morning, I saw enough snow showers to last me for awhile.  Quite frankly, I hope the stuff goes in some other direction, and I would prefer that it just disappear all together, so none of us have to put up with it.

Everyone enjoy the 'lunch', have a very good afternoon, keep safe and take care.

CW and fireplace friends,  I could contribute some seasoned scrub oak firewood. Right now we are expecting some warm dry weather for a few days. When the rain left it snowed a little. The ground looked like a sprinkle of powdered sugar.  Now it is gone . Time for tea & crumpets.

                                          Respectfully, Cannonball

Wind? Kenosha Pass was over 100mph last night, 60 mph gusts were common and it was  actually pleasant at 20 MPH....The scotties' fur was blowing sideways and temperature dropped like a stone.

Gotta go find the Rolla KS wind gage made with an anchor chain links off a ship.

Off to do research in the bowels of the local courthouse.

First comes the wet and then comes the high speed dry.  Feeling a little like a car wash here.

Wind yesterday and today - smidges of snow - nothing too dramatic.  Will send wind on when we are done with it.

CW - fireplace it is.  Maybe smores for lunch?  Mischief

Good morning, it's Monday! 53 degrees with drizzle and clearing skies in Carolina. I don't know what the weather guess is. We had some heavy weather near here last night. Apparently, the midlands got hit fairly hard with trees down and people without power. Here, we had some rain, but nothing worse. Everyone take care and have a great day

Good Monday morning, everyone.  Larry, what'd you do:  send the drizzles back to us?  They are back, and will be off and on most of today.  Then, tonight it changes to rain, and snow!  I personally do not want to see any more of that white stuff.

Johnny, glad you're  back home and feeling better.  Hope everything went okay.

Roy (piouslion), glad to see you in!

Coffee, juices and hot beverages are all ready to go this morning, everything freshly made.  On the menu this morning:  oatmeal, toast, grits, turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, homemade buttermilk biscuits w/sausage gravy, bagels and bear claws.

Mookie, how's about we pull our rocking chairs up to the fireplace, to get warmed up this morning?  And anybody else who'd like to join us is welcome.

Well, looks like the rain/drizzle is out of our area now.

I found it!  It's here!

Edit (3:30 AM):  It's the end of January.  It's supposed to be cold and snowy.  Why do I show a half inch of rain in my guage?

Mudchicken, a snuggie is a fleece 'robe/blanket' that you put over yourself, and wrap the back around.  Then, you can curl up on your sofa, in your chair and stay toasty warm.  (Although, the one I got for Christmas, didn't quite keep me warm enough.)  I probably need to find one of them in the kids' size, so it won't be dragging the floor, and/or tripping me.

Paula, Ricki ordered a package of the snuggies last year, believing that she would get only two--and she was sent two packages of  two each. She persuaded the company not only to accept the two that had not been ordered and give us credit for them and the cost of shipping them to us, but  also to reminburse us for the cost of returning them. She has appreciated the one she uses--especially after I hemmed the bottom up so she does not trip on it. Can you persuade Walt to hem yours up?Smile

Yes, it is good to be back home again. It may have been easier for me get in and out bed, and to turn over in the bed, here because I have been moving around more and thus gently stretching the muscles that told me to lie still, and so they are more willing to obey. Hospital beds are not as comfortable as the bed I had in college--link springs and an ordinary mattress over the spring.

Johnny

We stayed home all day today, and had our own worship at home, using one of the forms in our church's hymnal.

Evening all.

The Colts are victorious! They are headed to Super Bowl 44! WOOO!

On a more serious note, Mom and Grandma got on there flight on time. I hope they make it ok to Miami.

Have a good evening.

Johnny - glad you are back with us.

I think hospitals have a special place where they order their beds.  Bed and Board Co.

I was in for a week when I had a burst appendix and I never slept in the bed.  Slept in the contoured chair next to the bed.  Couldn't get in and then couldn't get out and never could get comfortable!  Home is always best!

Back from an abbreviated train watching - stiff NW wind and even at supposedly 38 degrees, even poor Millie was shivering.  Hard to look thru binoculars when your car is shaking.

Dining Car - he said most people don't even know their surroundings.  When he lived in CA, no one knew much more than what was at the local strip mall, let alone landmarks.  That is why he smiled - you actually knew where Goldwater Lake was.

PL - welcome back - cornbread with honey - yum!

Didchanotice - Zardoz is back!  Big Smile  I am pleased.

Joe didn't check in this morning did he?

Going to go wrap up by the fireplace - maybe eat chicken under a blanket.  After all - they have pigs in a blanket....

Groan...

Well, looks like the rain/drizzle is out of our area now.  A little while ago, the sun was trying to peak out from the clouds, but now, it's gone back behind them.  But at least we have a temp of about 56 degrees, so that's o.k. with me.

For our Sunday Dinner, we have:

1.  Fried chicken w/mashed taters, milk gravy, homemade buttermilk biscuits, cole slaw, green beans, broccoli w/cheddar cheese sauce, and corn.

2.  Roast, taters, carrots, and peas w/the other sides listed in #1 on today's menu

Desserts today:  apple struedle cake, yellow cake w/chocolate icing, peach cobbler and strawberry pie w/ice cream  for anyone wanting ice cream

Cannonball, I'll try to pull up those stories on little Jacob.
