Joe, got a couple of containers fixed for you, for work tonight.

Everything has been refreshed on the warmer bar for tonight's Mexican Fiesta.

On the rain front, all we've gotten so far is a few sprinkles, turning to a very light drizzle, then drying up.  That's about all Walt and I saw after we came out of the library, and were waiting for Sarah to come pick us up.  She dropped us off, on her way to run a couple of errands.

If any of the following tall people are around, I need birthday decorations put up for tomorrow:  Dan, Brian, Larry, and whomever else is around and available.  I'll let everyone know whose birthday is tomorrow in the morning.Wink

Let's see Larry, how close to "Woodstock" do you live, and what were you doing 40 years ago? Oh, that's right, you grew up in Michigan, so you weren't that close.

I was actually even further from Woodstock than MI.  I had just gotten out of tech school at Chanute AFB and was headed for Tinker AFB in OKC.  I don't even recall being aware that it happened until much later.

That said, the concert locale is about 4 hours from where I now live.

I was in college at Morehead State University (Ky) and ROTC, but the "Grapevine" kept us informed about such things as "Woodstock".

I didn't join the Military until 1972, after leaving college for Vocational School which my Draft Board said was less technical than college, Confused so I lost my student deferment.

Tom, Jerry Clower is Very Much missed!! Along with a few others that Passed Much Too Soon; mentioning Jerry; I saw a Hee-Haw run the other day on RFD-TV, kept me laughing the rest of the day.

Egad! I completely forgot about Jerry Clower, twict! He showed up in a shiney fire engine red suit and put on a classy southern show. He is missed a whole lot by us Southrons.

The only celebrity I have met was Gary Coleman,at Allied models when it was on Pico Blvd. He also worked at a now long gone train shop in Brea. As far as concerts,I have seen Johnny Cash, Tennesee Ernie Ford,Red Sovine,Ricky Skaggs,Marty Robbins,Merle Haggard, and Loretta Lynn.

Tuesday Produce wasn't too bad this morning.  I had 9 helpers, and we had 45 'clients' this morning.  On the truck today:  lettuce, ochre, limes, green beans and potatoes.

For the rest of the day, here's the menu:  Tuesday Mexican Fiesta

1.  Burritos (beef, beef & bean, and beef enchilada style); 2.  Tacos (soft shell and hard shell); 3.  Chimichangas; 4.  Fajitas; 5.  Spanish rice; 6.  shredded lettuce with chopped up onion and tomatoes;

And there is also plenty of tortilla chips w/picante sauce, salsa, con queso, etc.

I think Walt and I will be going out after a bit, to a different library, to return our books that are due today (although some of them aren't due until Thursday), and we have read all of them.

Regarding "Celebrities Met" over the years, Walt and I have both met and talked with Elliot Gould, and I have met/and or seen up close and personal, Lorenzo Lamas, Patrick Duffy, Ken Kerchival, along with a few wrestlers and performers at the annual Carl Caspar's Custom Auto Show.

Everyone have a very good afternoon, take care, and I'll see you all later.

In the past several decades our local Ball State Un. Campus has hosted most of the main stream entertainers here, so we've had a wide variety of choices.

Emens Auditorium here on Campus is a state of the art facility and anyone living here in the Muncie area has had great opportunities to select and attend to see the performers of their choice.

Edit:  Walt, I observed that mess of weather down south of us and expect it was what crossed your area last evening.....Our skies were clear as the sun retreated....Clouds evaporated as it cooled a bit.  observed high yesterday was 91.4....{may have been a bit higher}, and this morning my first peek at our instrument indicated:  74 degrees.....Partly sunny now and humid.

Good morning Gracie, how about some Maxwell House coffee and Carnation Evaporated Milk...

77 and sunshine in Carolina, headed for the mid/high 90s and thunder later. I will be glad to see September when things start to mellow a bit. So far, NO hurricanes in sight. Everyone take care

Tom, Not Now of course, but this evening before bed time, don't forget to get back on the Forum and Cafe and say: "Say Goodnight Gracie"!

A lot of the concerts that CW & I have seen have been courtesy of the State Fairgrounds here in Louisville. Several have been in different venues. Not sure about CW, but while I was in college, I was able to see a few others in concert, such as, B.J. Thomas, Iron Butterfly, Ferranti & Ticher(sp) and several more I can't remember.(Student Activities Cards were nice!)

Had a very hard storm last night, got a little over an inch in about an hour; very much scaring a lot of people around here thinking they're having a repeat of last week. (was some localized flooding, but nothing like last Tues.) More storms are predicted for this afternoon, but hopefully it won't be anything like last week!

Hmmm  - Mitch Ryder and the Detroit Wheels, Jefferson Airplane (possibly at the infamous OKC concert), Beach Boys (twice), Chicago, Don McLean, Peter, Paul and Mary, Blood, Sweat and Tears, James Taylor, Chubby Checker, Lee Greenwood, Jo Dee Messina, Blue Oyster Cult (two of the members are from my area) and a well-known old-school female country star whose name I forget.

Many of the performers I've seen in fairly small venues - so you get a lot more "up close and personal" than in an arena, stadium, or large auditorium.  Blue Oyster Cult and Chubby Checker appeared at a local "Woodstock" style event my fire department had food and beer concessions for...

Worked in a local restaurant for almost 20 years.  They filmed Terms of Endearment there, so got to meet Debra Winger, and James Brooks (Producer); Martin Sheen and Hugh O'Brien showed up for lunch; Caryl Ann Fugate (Starkweather) also ate there with attorney; Dack Rambo (Dirty Sally tv show) for breakfast (my first interaction with the "famous") and Dr Hook and The Medicine Show - lunch and all I could do was stare at the razor blade necklace around his neck.  Many years later figured out it wasn't a weapon, but was used for "other purposes".

Normally, I wouldn't walk across the street to see someone "famous" and have no one I would go see in concert.  But if they come to me, well, that is different!Big Smile

and my most favorite performer, John Denver,

I'll second that- saw him when he came through Cedar Rapids once.

The most recent concert I've seen is a group that alot of you folks probably wouldn't care that much for, but I loved their show- The Trans-Siberian Orchestra.  They played at what used to be called The Mark in Moline, Illinois back last November, IIRC.  At that same venue a couple of years back, we also went to see Michael Buble'.

Now if we could just get Celine Dion to make a stop here...

.....Interesting subject....the entertainers "we've all seen"....Jean and I have seen many that have been listed.  As I was reading all these entries, I wondered who I'd put at the top {as an exciting and great entertainer}, that we've seen live......The answer:  Elvis....yes Elvis Pressley at the {then}, International Hotel in Vegas.  {1970}. What an entertainer....and a full stage full of musicians backing him....Oh so powerful and what a full room of fantastic music.  2hrs. of performance practically non stop...

Most live performances  we've seen have been here in Muncie at Emens Autitorium on Ball State Campus....Las Vegas....Opry Land Hotel...and The Opry House in Nashville.

Ray, we are so far off the beaten path that very little has come this way. We have a civics center that can house concerts, but like I mentioned, I can't go so really pay little attention anymore. You are to be congratulated to have such a thoughtful sister who remembered you in such a special way! Enjoy yourself in the presence of such talent.

Walt, my Dad was a radio broadcaster and a musicologist, and I think I more or less inherited an appreciation for good music from him. I've been to see John Denver when he was in Sioux Falls a good many years ago and it is a shame that he is now gone. And while I have never actually seen Gordon Lightfoot in concert, I know he is a class act. There are very few musicians who can even hold a candle to his kind of talent. I give our local Washington Pavilion a thumbs up for bringing Lightfoot to town. Thumbs Up

Grrrrr..got ready to hit "Post", and what I had typed did a disappearing act!Thumbs Down

Ray, Congrats on being able to go to that concert; Gordon Lightfoot is one of my favorite performers also.

Over the years, CW has been able to see Glen Campbell, Janie Frickie, The Oak Ridge Boys, Sawyer Brown, and various other singers in concerts, along with several Concerts in the Park.

I myself have seen:  The Oak Ridge Boys, The Statlers, Dolly Parton, and my most favorite performer, John Denver, along with various others who I cannot remember right now.

Together, CW and I saw Peter, Paul and Mary several years ago at the Louisville Palace.

I am so excited, excited, excited, excited

Aer ye excited, there, Raymond or are you simply excited? I have never seen Gordon Lightfoot in person, either, and for that matter, have only seen the Rascals, the Statler Brothers, Sonny and Cher, Dottie west, Dollie Parton and the Gaither Reunion. That will be pretty much it, cause my physical condition precludes that now.... Been a hottun in Carolina today, but no thunder PTL

Right now it's 86.7 degrees here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and the humidity is sitting at 24%. That isn't too bad, I know it could be a lot worse than that.

I have a sister, Cindy who lives out in Gillette, Wyoming and I was just on the phone with her. She had called me a bit earlier this afternoon and informed me that my long-time favorite musician, Canadian born folk artist, Gordon Lightfoot is coming to Sioux Falls for a single concert the night of October 2nd, and my sister has already secured a ticket for me in the Orchestra section at the Washington Pavilion where Lightfoot will be playing. My sister told me this will be my Christmas present. I have never seen Gordon Lightfoot in concert anywhere and I am so excited, excited, excited, excited!!!!

Mookie

Gonna have a sammich of roast beef, tomato, mayo and provolone (can u guess I hit a certain sandwich shop occasionally?) and milk, please!

Most of the girls at our local convenience store have my usual sub order down pretty well.

I'd like to see something like the sandwich shop next to a motel we stayed in in Palo Alto, CA.  Ham 'n Swiss on rye, mayo, some lettuce and tomato.  Maybe get a big ol' dill pickle on the side...

There's a convenience store chain in the middle Atlantic region that does pretty good sandwiches, too.  Your order them up at the terminal, then go pay while they make it up.  There's one near my son's place, and that's my lunch when I'm headed for home from down there.

Even though the Cafe/Diner is air conditioned, it's so hot and muggy everywhere, I decided to fix sandwiches for lunch:  various cold cuts with extra fixin's are on the "cooler" bar, along with some tuna salad for sandwiches.  And there are several large bags of different flavors/kinds of chips, pretzels, pretzel sticks, Cheetos, Doritos on the counter.

Sarah and I made an early run to the Vet this morning, for the dog's regular blood work to be done.  From the time we pulled into the parking lot, to the time we got in the Jeep to come home, we had been there exactly one hour and five minutes.  That's the shortest time we've been there.  For a medium size dog, she's now at a weight they were happy to see her have:  49.7 lbs.  She was such a good doggie, that when we got home and in the house, along with getting fresh water and food, she got three of her Beneful doggie treats.  She wolfed them down in two seconds flat, along with gobbling up her food.

Everyone have a good afternoon, but make sure you stay hydrated, keep as cool as possible, and you all take care this afternoon.

.....Our weather instrument has recorded the warmest start of this season earlier this morning....77 plus degrees.  Did get to 94.1 yesterday afternoon.

But the afternoon report is just to be 88 degrees....That's a bit strange, but perhaps they are figuring on some shower activity this pm to enter into effecting our afternoon temp....

Brian...{Ia.}, wonder what the false "Mar's"...report is all about....I did look it up and saw similar reports, as the one I related to in my note.  Even saw one that mentioned it would be as bright as the moon...!!  We of course understand that is pure bunk...!!  I In no way intended to relate that.
