A friend of mine who lives in southern Africa told me that he was passing through a village once which was getting its first rain in 7 years. Young children were screaming in terror and trying to hide from it....

Hot and humid.  A little breeze would be nice.  At least it's not raining.

Quentin, I wish I could have sent you some of the rain that hit Sioux Falls yesterday. It rained off an on all day yesterday

Ray we sure could use some of it....I know lots of areas are getting rain, in fact some close to us....Seems we've just been missed by many of the pop up showers and many of the lines of weather coming thru.

Our famous corn crop seems to have survived rather well in spite of the dryness.  Most yards now are really in the brown stage where there is no shade.

Quentin, I wish I could have sent you some of the rain that hit Sioux Falls yesterday. It rained off an on all day yesterday. I was working our railroad club's exhibit out at the fair grounds last night and the thunderstorm we got around 8:00 brought in a lot of people who were simply looking for shelter from the rain.

Right now we have a temp of roughly 65 degrees and our temp here is supposed to max out at 76 degrees. The humidy here right now is still pretty high, at 72%.

I spent a couple evenings photographing our railroad club's layout, and we are usually running a minimum of six to nine trains all at once, and in varying lengths. Once in a while one of us gets a little distracted or forgets what he is doing and as a result we do  have some neat accidents, two of which I photographed yesterday afternoon. We all have a pretty good sense of humor, and one of our club members, Wayne Hanson told me that he is hoping I will not try to blackmail him with any of my pictures! I told him that I have notified the NTSB of his carelessness and that he will no longer be permitted to work as a dispatcher anywhere!  Laugh

Time for me to go to work, I have an office building to clean today. I hope the rest of you are all having a very good day!

Morning all....

Woke up this morning to find out I must have blown a trailer tire last night coming down US 69 in Oklahoma, so waiting for the repair guy to show up now.  It's that time of year when high heat and rough roads will help to blow up tires (a small leak sometimes helps).  Will be the second one I've blown this week, think I'll have to start checking pressures more often.

Otherwise, supposed to be hot down here, headed to Mineral Wells, just west of Fort Worth, TX, forecast is for 95 degree weather.....

See everyone later.....

Today will be a  hot one here for us....add humidity and it will really feel hot.  Prediction is 94 and sunny with just an outside chance of a pop up shower....

Next week we're being told we have a chance of rain virtually every day.  Now that would be a difference since we've been so dry here....

Good morning. 72 amd sunshiney here in Carolina. Supposedly, headed for the high 80s and more thunder. As soon as I wrote sunshiney, a cloud hid the sun.... The wife and I are just a tad under the weather this morning, nothing serious, just the droops and mulligrubbs. Everybody take care and have a great day

Well, there.  Decent day on  the railroad Saturday.  After I got there I was asked to take over as conductor for the day as the scheduled conductor was under the weather.  No Problem!  Had plenty of help.

Lots to do today - unfortunately most of it is inside, and it looks to be a beautiful day again.   I do have to mow, though - looking pretty shaggy, grass-wise.  Must be all that rain everyone's been complaining about.

Yesterday's beautiful weather brought on a lengthy traffic jam in Old Forge.  There's a water park there and I think half of Central New York tried to get there.  At one point, we got reports that traffic was backed up some five miles, and we know that said back-up lasted upwards of two hours...

A little more time getting caught up on-line and then off to my tasks at hand.

It feels like October here. It almost feels like it wants to start snowing. We actually had to switch the central air from Cool to Heat...

Wow..I wish we had that situation down here!

Morning all!

Hope everyone has been well since my last visit. Life has just been flying by the past month. Got all moved in to the new house. (just need to start on the train room now.) 2 weeks into the new job and enjoy it quite a bit. Yesterday, I learned how to load Propane on tank cars. Monday I will get to learn to shift and spot cars at out loadout rack with the trackmobile. (maybe I will get some photos to show you) Wedding plans are coming along nicely and I still can't wait for the day to come.

Another cool spell has come to the Crossroads of the West. Yesterday, it was about seventy at seven; today, it was in the fifties. We had scattered showers yesterday--a few drops here, and hail in North Salt Lake. When I went out for the paper this morning, a fine mist was beginning to fall; when I next looked out the pavement was wet. This afternoon, we go 24 miles away, 4,000 feet up--and 10 degrees cooler. It's going to be chilly in the morning.

Guess I'll break the ice and start a new day here on this spot....and as usual we are off to another warm start here in our area, with sunshine and dryness.  Expect to see 90 by this afternoon.

Windows are closed again and have to shut the Summer out as the humidity is to increase along with our heat today.

Just a bit of railroad comment....We are seeing more trains west bound on NS Frankfort line of complete tanks consist....Haven't seen the east bounds, perhaps they are east bound at night....loaded.  What I have noticed is the empty west bounds are running at a seemingly faster pace than we normally see trains on this line run.  I'm guessing these are Ethanol tanks.

The young Marine of one of our government civilian workers was killed by an IED in Afghanistan last week.

The organization that l work for here in San Antonio went out to watch his arrival.  He was also honored by ordinary civilians here in San Antonio, who lined his motorcade route.

It was hot out there today on the flightline...but it was much hotter where that young Marine was.

Please remember, help, aid and assist our military members in any way you deem appropriate.

Please forgive my attempt at humor that started all of this. It never dawned that it was anything more than something ridiculously funny. I am not a political person, and actually, am an old TOP 40 DeeJay who specialized in the ridiculous. Anything to make someone laugh... If I offended anyone, please accept my apologies for it, and accept my promise that it will not occur again. To Paula, I ask that she rethink her departure. Peace be with you all.

I'm wondering similar thoughts....Thought I was confused by not finding a post of of mine earlier today.....Couldn't understand how a page disappeared.  I noted some raw political comments did show up...Perhaps that has effected some other posts too....

Does someone have a few words to explain just what we're seeing here....?

Gee, what happened to my post from first thing this morning?!?!  I know what posts are absent from here, and I had not commented on the main one that was deleted, or the subsequent replies, so my post from this morning should not have been deleted.  I fully know the forum's rules about discussing religion and politics on here.

So, I'm making my last post on here for awhile.  You all will have to find someone else to take care of things in here for the time being.

So long, everyone.  And with my absence, maybe some who have been conspicuously absent, will start showing back up in her.
