You see volcanoes, I see swamps...

Hey, glad you showed up finally, was getting worried.

Tell the bearded one e mail works...Wink [;)]

Lets see, two fried eggs over medium, 6 or 7 pieces of maple bacon, (fry the egss in the bacon grease)  home made hash browns, (the cubed kind, not the ground up stuff) with onion and bell peppers, mushrooms and a touch of garlic, hit it with a dash of paprika, fresh biscuits with real butter and a cup of coffee...Dinner [dinner]check to make sure the fluffy ankle biter is off to her "no reason to have it" office meeting, and a jump for the hammock...or maybe the couch, might even lift up the cushions to see if Kevin or Dan are stuffed under there.

And Joe, there's two covered plates in the fridge, with your name on them, for you to take to work tonight.

No, the organ is located at Zion's Evangelical United Church of Christ in Downtown Indianapolis, IN. It is where I took lessons in high school and for the year 1/2 that I continued my studies with Dr. Mallory Bransford while attending Butler University. Pretty organ, eh?

As far as the bearded one is concerned, I think he is too busy to post anywhere on the forum, but I will relay your good wishes to him. Mookie, I hate to say this, but he's allergic to, well.. you know.....cats.

Paula, it was nice to hear from you the other day.

Ed, I saw the Pacific Ocean for the first time the other weekend. The coastline here is way different than in Galveston. It was beautiful. But I sure would like to walk on the beach near pocket beach #3 on the west end and collect sea shells and look for dolphins in the gulf.

The wind is going to blow really hard tonight. Hurricane strength winds are forecasted for the area. I keep praying for those three men on Mt. Hood. Two are from Dallas, even.

At what wind speed will they not run trains? And a big welcome to the new buckeye from the daughter of one.

and since the new guy likes Wisconsin...this fall I was at Tarleton State in Stephenville, TX watching my son cheer when they started to play "Oh Wisconsin, Oh Wisconsin." I started to sing, and then I became very quiet.  Sign - Oops [#oops]

Evening All,

The cook sent me a note wishing me well, so I thought it was only proper to stop in. Life's been a bit hectic lately. My workload is up a bit as we try to get a bunch of bids out before the company lays off for two weeks at Christmas. Of course that means that the size of each of those bids is larger than average, too.

Meanwhile, I've been selling off the Canon gear as well as I fully adapt to the Pentax system that seems to fit me very well. I've got the very basics covered right now, but will be adding some big glass (I just sold the Canon 400mm and feel a bit naked with nothing longer than 200mm in Pentaxia at the moment) in the very near future, and will be upgrading the zooms and picking up a few more of the "Limiteds" next year.

I will be back in the Chicago area from Dec. 21 through Jan. 3. If there's nice weather (and sometimes even if there's not) you can expect to find me chasing trains someplace back there.

Well, must be on my way. Happy B-Day [bday] a bit late, Randy. And Sign - Welcome [#welcome] to all the new members popping up. Glad to have you here! Mind the two rules of the diner, and you'll have a great time!

TTFN!

P.S. mbkcs, really love the organ shot! My dad played the organ at my church when I was growing up, and I always loved organ music because of it. Someday I'd like to learn, though at the moment I have enough problems dealing with two hands on a piano. Not sure if I could even attempt to throw two feet into the mix!

A welcome back and a note to our friend on the upper west side.

After returning from WWII, my last surviving uncle went to work in station operations for Northwest Airlines at Chicago Midway then moved to Minneapolis, Seattle, Honolulu; Naha, Okinawa and Seoul, Korea.  When he left the airline, he settled in Seattle.  A little up from you, I know, but he always said "Where else can you wake on a morning off work and have to choose between sailing, golf or snow skiing."  Understand that there are also trains and good shopping.  Enjoy.

mbkcs...Yes, it is a good looking organ from what I can see in the small photo....and I had reservations that it might be the Salt Lake City one but the apparent curved ceiling that is just a bit visible made me wonder.

I happen to belong to a UCC out east yet....

Anyway, would like to hear that organ....Looks sizeable.

Have a brand new Pipe organ here in Muncie at Ball State Un. that was constructed into our brand new School of Music Building and dedicated just a month or so ago.  It was designed, built and installed by a business from Indy.  Really liked the one out east of town {Indy}, at the Music Palace...A Mighty Wurlitzer...It REALLY  put out sound...!

Good Friday morning to all!  Looks like we were semi-busy in here last night!  Good to know that:  means my cooking isn't in vain.

Coffee is on, juice freshly made, and there's hot chocolate, hot cocoa and hot tea available.

Just got in from making an early morning run to Krispy Kreme for doughnuts of every kind, so help yourselves this morning.  And Larry, even got bear claws especially for you!   We haven't had doughnuts for awhile, so thought I'd go get some for this Friday morning.

But, for those of you who may not want doughnuts, on the breakfast warmer bar, you'll find:  turkey bacon, sausage, homemade buttermilk biscuits, and sausage gravy, and homemade hash browns.

 Everyone have a great day!!

Tina - it's ok - I am allergic to me, too!

Did my hair and nails again for Xmas - $%~%$  - ///// \\\\\ (notice the new earrings?)

Made my list for Santa:  New Red Mookie Mobile Convertible - for getting around in the diner.

New kibble bowl - I figure about a 3 quart will do.

Need a new bib - drug the other one through the ketchup going for a fry on Matt's plate - stained it terribly.

Softer fireplace rug - (try lying on the floor all the time!)

That should do it.

Oh - and I left some cookies for Santa - (they are the sugar ones - well they had sugar on them to start - Blush [:I]  )  What can I say.  I have to test everything!

Good morning gang.

No, actually it is a morning blessed beyond my wildest expectations. I have a request for my fellow Christian forum members on this day.

<>Today I am going to set out on the most important mission of my life (of course doesn't count being saved). In blind faith I am going to set out on a  what seems to be a journey against  impossible odds  and insurmountabe obstacles,  to be part of the greatest miracle I will probably ever witness. The details are not important now. I just ask for your prayers as I embark on this journey to help shepard the weak through the valley of darkness, and save some lost sheep. If all goes well in a couple weeks I will have a "Late Christmas Storey" that you all will not believe. Unless of course you know that with GOD nothing is impossible.

Jay, it's all very true. Out here, you could even change sailing to swimming for a few months of the year (Arapahoe Basin Ski Area usually trys to stay open until 4th of July...they make it some of the time, too!). Meanwhile, your story of mixed recreational activities reminded me of one.

When I was little, I remember watching one of my Dad's slideshows from his pre-family days. I remember one picture where he was swimming in a river that still had ice on it. I was most impressed, and resolved to do that some day. Fast forward about 15 years. My friend Ethan and I were out hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. We got up to Black Lake, and lo and behold, the lake was about half ice and half open water. I decided that it was time to follow in my Dad's footsteps. Removing all but my boxers, I decided against wading in slowly and just jumped in. I cannot tell you how cold that water was! I managed to survive around 2 minutes or so...long enough for Ethan to get a picture of me, and then I had to get out.

The next time I was in Chicagoland, I was showing the slides from that outing to some of my relatives. I got to that picture, and told the same story as above. All of a sudden, my uncle just started laughing uncontollably. I asked what's so funny. In between guffaws and even a couple tears I learned that the shot I had seen so long ago of my dad had been taken while he was swimming in the Firehole River in Yellowstone National Park. As the name and place imply, the Firehole River has Geothermal 'Hot Spots.' So while my Dad was swimming in a river that did have ice on it, the water he was swimming in was no where near freezing. Doh!

//Staggers into diner, collapses into booth//

Ah, this feels a bit more comfortable.....

Was a little rough last night at work, had to plumb some units that had everything but the kitchen sink installed on them, took some extra time to get them all plumbed.  Aside from the usual brakes and air suspension, they had air slider release and a continous tire inflation system to install and plumb.

Will take some cod for the fish fry, with fries and tartar sauce.  Some caffenated, carbonated beverage would be nice too, probably Mountain Dew.  Might have to hit the couch in the back room after this again.........

Chad - Good luck! My prayers go with you!

Today is the last day of the first semester! I have straight "A"s right now and I plan to keep it that way during exam week. My hardest class this semster was World Histroy Honors with Chemistry coming in right behind that.

It looks like Omaha could get its first measurable snowfall next Wednesday. There's still a lot of uncertainty in the forecast and right now I expect that the moisture will end up just south of us preventing us from getting anything more than a couple of flurries. It does bear watching, though.

I hope everyone has a super weekend!

Willy
