Good Guess! A New England soup that I really do like - the cream soup - Called New England - the Boston kind is made with a tomato base. I think that is right.

You can make corn chowder, too - both are very good. I am sure someone from back east will clarify the chowder part.

Thanks, Jim; I'll take that official report over the times and figures I was given at work. At that point I was probably still awake, but I didn't feel it (though it was apparently felt in Hinsdale, according to the report, and that's not far from here). It sounds like the epicenter was close to I-39, and almost due south of Rochelle.

the quake happened Monday at 1:11am. It registered a 4.1 on the Richter scale. I slept through it. The epicenter was about 71 miles WSW of Chicago. For the official report:

Hey CShaveRR, When was this earthquake? Were about the same distance from Ottawa, maybe alittle closer as I'm in central Wisconsin, and I hadn't heard about it if it was recent at all. Makes sense I don't know a thing about it, I was dead asleep at that time.

soup you want. Can also put salsa or whatever you like.

I found out a little more about the earthquake...its epicenter was near Ottawa (about 90 miles distant via a lovely bike trail along the Illinois & Michigan Canal), and it was about a 4.5 on the Richter scale, at about 1:30 a.m. I should have felt it, but didn't. It apparently wasn't strong enough to affect our main line, which is about 20-30 miles north of there. Probably startled a few drivers along I-80, though!

Was with a friend at our Sta 1.several years ago. We heard Co. Dispatch
mention something about an earthquake. We went to the radio,and asked
if she was joking,turns out we did suffer a minor one.(thank goodness,no injuries)

Now about Labor Day, I heard a joke the other day about the United States continuing to outsource jobs to India. It said that soon not only would Labor Day be celebrated in the United States but India as well. [:(!]

I have AOL and when I call for "help" about 99 out of 100 times I get "someone" who just doesn't seem to understand Engli***oo well and certainly can't understand what point I am trying to make. Much more of this and AOL can kiss me goodby. I am tired of trying to explain something 25 times and still not make them understand what I mean. And their broken English is enough is drive me up the wall. All this after waiting for 30 minutes on hold too.

Jim,know what you mean about AOL. It came with our computer. We stayed with AOL
for about 7 - 8 months, then switched to Bellsouth.net , because we could get it
included in our phone bill at a MUCH CHEAPER price.

But get this: one day cw had to call for bellsouth.net technical help. She ended up
talking with someone in INDIA.[:0]

And yes, we are like the birds around here: WE ARE CHEEP[}:)][:p]

I just wanted to let everyone know that in the next few weeks (maybe a month or so) I will be making less visits and posts in the coffee shop. I am trying to advance my career at work and need to really spend more time studying for my Airframe and Powerplant licenses. They have recently hired two geeks, I mean inspectors, so I need to buckle down and get those licenses now.
