Modesty, huh?
Darn, now I have to go look it up...
Ok, now I see what your driving at.
Uh, no, that word does not apply to many of us.
But, besides good food, and great conversation, you just might learn a little about real engineers and trainmen(and women too).

Well, now that you here, Phill, ask Wabash if he is done with the mirror yet?
(now there is a epitome of modesty!)

Mud Chicken, Didn't know a thing about that. That's quite a ways away from me, but I've been down in that area once this spring. I would bet they used ICE trackage rights over that area, and now they own it instead, but that's just a guess. Yep just read more of it, that's what happened. The line in question is the Line the WSOR uses to get to chicago for interchange in the BCR clearing yard. They want to buy part of it so that's when less railroad to use trackage rights on. Or that's what I think.

Don't worry phill, you'll like it here Just like in the MR Forums. I always thought when your modeling it helps to look at the prototype, which is why i come here. Trust me, you'll like it.

I'm going to start a seperate thread shortly for the Weed train pictures. I don't have them all ready to go, so I'll add more later.

By the way, who ever mentioned the pork chop covered with mushroom soup, try substituting one cup milk, and one cup sour cream, with sauted mushrooms and onions(saute onions and mushrooms, sliced or chopped, not whole, till the onions become clear, not brown). Heat the liquids till simmering, add one cup water, stir, and then add the pork chops, mushrooms and onions, simmer covered for 30 minutes, stirring occasionaly, till the chops become soft.
Pepper the whole mixture.

And let us not forget our Canadian members, who are today celebrating Canada Day.

<All rise for the Canadian National Anthem>

O Canada! Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North, strong and free!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Refrain
O Canada, glorious and free!
We stand on guard, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee!

<Thank you. Enjoy your holiday!>

Tree - we live in a duplex - it is a funny house! In the truest sense of the word. We can't get 2 people in it at the same time unless one stands in the shower/tub. And when the real Mookie visits, we both leave! (She really takes up a lot of room, since she runs horizontal not vertical) But the trains fit just fine! And it is the one thing that will bring a smile to my face in the wee hours of the morning!

Hmmm - A western omelet sounds good. I think some folks refer to them as garbage omelets - just hold the mushrooms... Some home fries on the side?

I'll give you a hand with those dishes. Getting used to doing them in bulk at our social hall.

Mookie - just how small is that bathroom if you had three trains running through it?

I kept waiting for all of this to catch up with me, hasnt so far.
Still wear the same size jeans I did in highschool, and weight the same, too.

David, we have a concoction called pot pies, small, tea saucer sized pies with chicken, veggies and such in a light sauce baked inside a light pie crust.
Thats about it though.
Would like to try you guys version, sounds really good.

Well, gotta go help Mookie bus tables and get the flatware washed...

I actually have years of restaurant experience--did everything from busboy to manager. At one restaurant we had beef and kidney pot pie. I know people are already saying "yuck" but it was actually good. This restaurant was an Iri***hemed restaurant so I guess that is an Irish dish.

Ed, I will make a few enquiries...pies ( the small individual pise size - not the huge dinner plate size) aren't that big up over??? We have hear other fillings, like steak, onion and tomatoe; beef and curry; etc etc.......maybe it's the linkage with the UK?

Kozzie,
Funny, but there are no Lone Star Steak Houses inTexas...
Lone Star, and the Texas Land and Cattle Company Steak Houses are offshoots
from a older restaurant chain, the Night Hawk.
At one time, there were two Night Hawk Restaurants, one in Austin,
the other in San Antonio, Texas.
Family owned and run, they were great places to eat, each with its own local flavor.
Sold in the mid 90 to a investor group, who formed several "Theme" restaurants, The Lone Star, Texas Land and Cattle, with a few others.
Do a little digging, and you will find they are all owned and run by the Texas Land and Cattle company Inc. in Dallas Texas.

They have their own distribution center and purchasing center, and ship most of their meats and produce from their distribution center to all of their restaurants from Seagoville, Texas(a little suburb of Dallas).
Some items in each chain are purchased locally, depending on what it is.

As for how authentic they are, well....
You would have a better taste of Texas eating at Dans parents Mexican food resturant here in Houston.
Or ask Mudchicken about Los Cucos, real homemade Tex Mex.

Ed

Thanks Ed..[:)] ..[;)]....interesting stuff!!!..[:)][;)]..hmmmmm... wonder how much they would ship from Seagoville to the Oz restaurants...sending beef to Oz is like "carting coal to Newcastle"...
