Good Friday morning to everyone!  TGIF!!!!

Coffee is on, juice is made, and am brewing tea, both for hot tea for breakfast,
and for iced tea.

Brought in Krispy Kreme doughnuts and danish for breakfast this morning.
Figured I'd give you a treat on this Friday morning.

Everyone have a great day, and I'll talk with you later.

Tea and a bearclaw, SVP.

Willy - I think that's a nationwide weather pattern.  I've said many times that it seems the sun goes down on Friday night and comes up on Monday morning, at least in the summertime.

Looks like rain here on Saturday - I can stay in the RR cars, so that's not an issue.  The trainmen might have a problem with it, though....

Sunday is now showing partly cloudy, which is good, as we are having a fire service memorial service at our training center in the afternoon, and nice weather would be a plus for that.

Yawn- I was staring into my cup of milk this morning and thinking about the diner.  Decided I wanted to throw this out for anyone who wanders through.

If you could have an all expense paid vacation, and a paid wardrobe, to anywhere in the US or world - where would you go?  I think Maine would be my choice.  Haven't been back east really at all, but think Maine would be very pretty and .........da da...........romantic......hmmm - thoughts of The Driver Big Smile [:D]

Anyone else?

I have to get a little greedy here - I'd like a nationwide rail pass, and a free ticket for rental cars at any place I decided to stop.  There's a lot of the country I wouldn't mind seeing, a few old friends I'd like to look up.

Or the British Isles.  Wouldn't mind going there.

Morning, some coffee and a couple of those doughnuts please. (if somebody hasn't licked
all the glaze off!!)

On the subject of travel;I like what both Larry & Brian said. I'd love to see much more of
Germany than Uncle Sam allowed for in just the two weeks I was there.

Hmmmm...just one trip Mooks? That's a toughy. I think I'd travel around our country, though I wouldn't do it by rail. I think I'd do it by car, and mix in some sections of rail travel here and there. If I had to narrow it to one section, I'd love to make it out east in the fall, with some side trips to the many rail museums back that way.

Anyways, I'll catch you all a bit later. Hope you all have a great day!

Boss hen would vote for Sweden....Me, can I take a few days and catch up on my rest (away from the circus?)??  I get to move around the country on a regular basis and enjoy that perk.

We listened to a little presentation from the folks at Festinog railway over in Wales. Enjoyed the dry British humor and learned a little about our narrow gauge's predecessor.

Must try to find a desk under all of this paper by tonite!

This will be a two-in-one post:  answering Mookie's question, and posting the
lunch menu:

1.  I would love to travel the USA, and see all the places in our beautiful country,
that I haven't seen, including Alaska and Hawaii.  Also, since I have Irish
ancestors, I would love to go to Ireland.  (And of course, I'd take Mutt with me
on both trips:  don't want to leave him behind!!)

2.  For lunch today, you have your choice of anything on the FRIDAY FISH FRY

or you can have baked pork chops w/rice, and broccoli florets that I fixed
     yesterday.

See - therein lies the difference in age.  I would like to take one trip (Maine),  get there in oh, 1/2 hour or so and only stay a few days.  Then home - another 1/2 hour.

You youngsters travel a whole lot better than we do.  I fly - but under much protest, I would go by train, but they won't let me on the head end, Driver snarls at me if I even ask if I can help drive, and I have a tendency to fall asleep on the way to the grocery store - thereby missing most of a car trip.

But it is nice to see where the rest of you would travel.

Afternoon/evening everyone......

Just another nice day near the Mad City, got up to 80, but supposed to rain later and the rest of the weekend.  Also supposed to get cool, high tomorrow of only 62 forecast.  Hope it doesent rain too much, my dad is doing corn silage now, talked with him while at home last weekend, tonnage for corn silage is very heavy this year, dad was only making it halfway around the field with a two-row head and filled a ten-ton wagon.  Dad doesen't need to bury another tractor up to the axles again.

Not too much else new, we should have FedEx trailers all finished by Tuesday or so, then it's all UPS trailers for about a month or so.  Haven't heard too much from the WSOR either since the wreck in Waukesha about two weeks back, other than CN banned all but three WSOR units from their track.

I'll take a fish fry, CW.  Think I'll sit on the porch and watch the trains go by.

I am hoping to make a drive out to California next year.  We'd return via a different route than the one we take out, and a lot of the fun would be in planning some of the stops, and let the rest of them take us by (pleasant) surprise.  The destination would be our daughter's place.  But on the way, we might try to disturb a Mudchicken, a guy in a cop car, a certain kitten and her driver, an Iowa choir-boy, and anyone else who may want to be disturbed in such a way.  I would hope to get back up to Cajon Pass, and make a visit to Tehachapi.  I'm sure I'd also have to include some quilting and other fabric stores as partial payment for being allowed to fritter away my time at such places.

Those whose names have been mentioned here--we do not have specific dates or duration in mind yet.  You will be warned sufficiently in advance so you can evacuate if desired.

Generally speaking, trips I take (be they in a car or on the bike) have to have a destination and a purpose.  Given a destination, exploration can be considered a valid purpose.  Also, given a destination, getting there along active rail lines and past good train-watching sites is bound to be included in the plans.

Life is one long journey, SJ!

TGIF!!

It was a very nice day here. Mostly sunny skies and highs in the mid 80s, but the entire weekend is going to be cloudy, rainy and chilly.

I have a 3 day weekend from school. On Monday my school's golf players are going to be in competition and they have given us the day off to go and watch. Of course I plan on doing something more fun than that.

Anyway, I'll be back in on Saturday morning. Have a good evening.

Hey Carl, you just let this here Iowa choir-boy know, and we'll roll out the welcome mat.  Since we're empty nesters again, we even have a very nice guest room if overnight accomodations are desired.  Then we'd have time to show you my favorite local trainwatching spots!

Morning All,

Carl, what Brian said goes for me, too. Alas! I can't promise you a nice guestroom, but I would certainly be thrilled to show you and Pat around (and I have some cousins out here that could even direct us to the good quilting stores around for Pat!). Drop me a line when you know more.

Speaking of trips, I've got my pictures processed, and I'll be headed over to PBase shortly to get them uploaded. Will be sure to post a trip report with linked pictures when they're up.

I guess I had better set about that right now. I'll catch you all back in here shortly.

TTFN!

Good Saturday morning!  I finally made it in here:  just as we woke up this morning,
the man was here to cut the grass.  His lawnmower started smoking, and he had to
go back around the corner to his house to get his oil.  So I sat out on the porch, watch-
ing his lawnmower and weed eater, so no one would "come help themselves to a
mower and trimmer!  He's finished the job, and our yard looks good again.  Now,
we are in for some rain sometime later on tonight, and tomorrow!!

Joe, thanks so much for putting the coffee on, and making the juice.  Always appre-
ciate your all's help around here!

Saturday brunch is ready on the warmer bar:  bacon, sausage, sausage gravy,
scrambled eggs, hash brown, fried taters, pancakes, oatmeal, toast, and homemade
buttermilk biscuits.

Also taking orders for the pizzas tonight for our Saturday Night Pizza Fest

Everyone have a great, safe day, and take care of yourselves.

C'Mon west Carl. Just give Chris and I a jingle in advance so we can mark up a map for you. BossHen's reaction last night was that the two Pats would be gone for the day in Golden and a few other key places, could not imagine what the boys would be doing.

Have a milk run to Glenwood today. Seems our field crew will be running out of material by Sunday to set aerial targets with and surveying supply stores are a bit hard to find west of here. SO - we load up the Durango with a bunch of supplies, three dogs and BossHen and off we go for the day. After dropping off the supplies, we hit the yarn store and the loom suppliers in Glenwood and Basalt, loop through Crystal River and McClure pass, hit the wineries and head for home via Grand Junction.

The Diet Dew spigot and the coffee urn will get a workout from us today and we will test out how the new furburning anklebiters do on a road trip.

Outta here!

By the way, I'm bringing in a commercial-quality espresso machine for the Depot Diner and Coffee Shop. That way, we can have our espressos and cappuccinos without having to go to Starbucks. Big Smile [:D]

Sounds like a little bit of a drive there...

Furburning anklebiters?  If those are what I think they are, do you have an extra set?

Afternoon folks.  The first week of college is under my belt successfully.  I don't think things will be quite as strenuous as I was originally thinking.  That means good news and bad news.  Good news is I'll have more time for fun and the bad is that I'll be back in here more!

Can't wait for some Sausage and Pepperoni!

Well, here's the list of pizzas for tonight:

1.  cheese
2.  supreme
3.  sausage & pepperoni
4.  goetta
5.  Hawaiian

This week, I only made two extra large of each of the five pizzas.

Later on tonight, we'll pop some popcorn
