Dan, the Mark they're referring to is Mark Hemphill, Trains former editor who has been working as a consultant, IIRC, for the Iraqi railroads.  Both he and his wife have been known to post on the forums every now and then.

EDIT:  Woohoo!  New page!

Good Thursday morning, everyone!  Sorry to be so late getting in here.  Had trouble
sleeping last night/this morning.   Finally got to sleep just after 3 a.m.

Have the coffee on, and the juice and lemonade are made for the day.  Breakfast
this morning:  bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, biscuits & sausage gravy, hash
browns, and fresh from the garden sliced tomatoes.

Sure hope everyone else didn't have any trouble going to sleep last night.Sleepy [|)]

Joe - works great....like to go to the little room in privacy and not be jostled.  And now that I can have the Diner newspaper delivered to the door....now where did I put my glasses?

Will pass on donut - (Yeah, believe it or not!)  They upset my sensitive senses.  (Hearts afire!)

Maybe snag a blueberry bagel and go to my corner.

Oh yes:  New owner - makes me suspicious.  He is going to cut down some big trees that should have gone many years ago.  He is cleaning out all the volunteer trees.  Replaced the medicine cabinet next door.  Do you think he would do all this work just for rentals?  Suspicious that he will clean it all up and then flip it.  Wonder if we will get chased out by high rent, so he can do our side or if he will flip it with us in it.  Wheeeee.....

And had more rain overnite.  It is so nice!  Will send east when we are done with it.  That could involve a little time, so don't get too anxious!

Now about that immoveable full coffee cup....

Sleep?  No problem last night - I usually wake up at least once during the night, too, and certainly don't remember it.  Of course, I was steaming, having had to deal with the dog, who decided to try again for the trash can.  Note that I said again - she'd already raided it once (unusual for her, but I had to move it, so she can reach it now.)  I put a can of deck stain on top to hold the lid down, and she proceded to knock the can down.  It opened, and she's now got a spotty coat of deck stain...  At first I couldn't figure out what it was, but when it wouldn't wash out during a delay-my-bedtime bath, the light came on...

I'll have a bearclaw and a cup of orange and spice tea...

CW - There wasn't much sleep at my house last night either. Lots of thunder and lightning and another inch of rain. That brings our August total up to about 6 inches! I'll try to help Mookie send it east, but I can't guarantee anything.

Tree:  That's a dog for you.  A cat would have called the garbage man to come lift the lid.

What a mess!  I hope the stain is a good color for a fur coat!

Willy - we are doing ok on rain, but I think you are getting a lot more than we are.  I am so pleased we are getting any at all.  More to come, too!

We've got a 40% chance of liquid sunshine today, and I welcome it.  Got part of today off but am cleaning the house.  The dogs don't want to move today-I think the 4 mile run wore them out!  That means I'll some peace and quiet today!

I'll snag some OJ and a blueberry bagel w/lite cream cheese and hang around for a bit.

Kinda hope it stays North of us,we're just drying out from the last "Deluge"; and then gentle
steady, soaking rain we had several days ago...........need to get out and do some 'yard work'.
We're still having a bit cooler temps, but Our State Fair ("is a Great State Fair"!) starts today,

Afternoon all.....

Kinda dreary here, clouds and rain started about two hours ago, supposed to rain through Saturday.  Temperature hasn't gotten above 70 yet today, highs are supposed to be in the mid to upper 70's through the next week.

Will take a couple of #1's for tonight at work, even though we're having a cookout due to a co-worker leaving for colledge.  Have a good night, all.

Brian, you can quit blowing now--my bike and I got sprinkled on the way home from work this afternoon.  I expect to be driving tomorrow, based on the forecast.

Good trip home, otherwise--met or was passed by three freights and a scoot in Elmhurst and Lombard.

Going to continue with the list of sandwiches for tonight.
It's just too muggy and sticky around here, to do much else.

I've also go some ice cream for dessert, and I can make some
banana splits, if anyone wants them.

I'll have... (darn, got to go back a page), OK, #4 with a slice of onion, tomato and some horse radish.

It has been raining here the last 2-3 hours, if it could be called that.  I could get more water on the grass if I just walked around the yard spitting.  The rain gauge isn't even wet.

I see tha Nora is the first on the forum to demonstrate civil (or is it railroad) disobedience.  See her pic on the "UP bans" thread.  I'll post bond and Gabe will defend pro bono.  Some one needs to look after the kids until we get her out, but they should enjoy the playground behind the Diner.

Jay, if I have the time-line right, Nora took that shot of your namesake before the word came out.  I'm sure Gabe could use that in her defense.

We haven't really gotten much rain yet, either.  Maybe Brian should bellow again!

I am in Wisconsin this morning after coming up from Illinois yesterday morning.  It rained on and off sicne about noon yesterday and drizzled most of the night.  Nice and cool but not cold (yet).  I smell waffles being cooked in the hotel lobby (yes, a small AmericInn motel) so I am going to shower and then go and see if there are any left, otherwise it will be Raisin Bran and a bannana for me this morning.  Have a good day, everybody.

Good Friday morning, everybody!

Mookie, we're supposed to be getting rain this afternoon;
but our rain is supposedly coming in from the west-
northwest.  Guess we'll have to wait and see.  Current
temp is in the upper 70s, low 80s and quite muggy.

Coffee is ready, and tea, juice and lemonade are also
available.

Breakfast this morning:  have some doughnuts, and for any-
one who doesn't want doughnuts, I have bacon, sausage and
scrambled eggs, along with bisuits and sausage gravy.
