Glad I took the "EvelynWoodSpedReadin'Course" so I could cover 7 pages of forum and about that many diner pages.

To catch up - we got a tidbit of rain, but not enough to do more than ruin MIllie's new wash job. We did get lower humidity and cooler weather - the 4th was delightful. BNSF is off to the races. They kept trying to crowd more than the 6 allowable trains on our tracks. Some were so close, I was sure they would nudge each other.

Had several house fires due to the Duh factor.

One serious injury - holding a box of illegal fireworks on his lap - dropped a cigarette ash - poof. He now will sing soprano in the "I am a Law Abiding Citizen" choir.

LimitedClear - you are back! I am so glad!

Found out this weekend - if you get a prescription from your pharmacy - count your pills. We were shorted 4 pills on two separate prescriptions. That and the neighbors stealing my papers off my porch (whilst I was at home!) - it wasn't pretty at our house.... the kitty was really miffed. Poor Driver - he will have to order two new ears, since I think I burnt his off.

Maybe that is why he kept dragging me trackside - so I would calm down...... Smart man!

Well, off to keep looking for the chicken and the soap. Fortunately, there is always a day-brightener in this group!

Um...Moookster.....better be doing your rain dance so that dirty feathers can "hang 7.5" with a bar of soap today. Just spent 3 hours sloshing around in a sanitary sewer to help solve a crisis in the nose-bleed section of Denver. (60 year old concrete sewer collapsed - can't flush some of those gold plated toities....sewers backing up at a few overpriced eateries).

Chris: Pontoons on the truckdriving Scottie seems to work. Gets around just fine in the backyard rice paddy. (UP had a minor washout at Sedalia on Sunday morning down below BigLift, the penalty for being closer to Plum Creek than BNSF)

Joe & Mutt: Last night was re-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-aly QUIET here. Between the rainstorm and the fire/fireworks ban (red flag warning), about the only noise heard here was thunder. Our fireworks are supposed to happen tonight if Ma Nature quits stormin' on our head (which we don't mind either)

Adirondack ended up with three washouts on the section I work, leading to a couple of slow orders (and the first Form D Line Ones some of the conductors had ever copied). All's well now, and the Utica trains should start running tomorrow.

The water has gone down (although some of it is still working its way north, leaving some lowlands a tad damp). The devastation is pretty heavy in the southern tier of NY, though. Binghampton is reporting some 800 houses destroyed, many roads have ceased to exist, bridges have been washed out. It's gonna be a mess for a while.

Think I saw some leftovers in the cooler that looked pretty good. I'll just settle in and wait for the 99 and 44/100 percent pure surfing video.

Brian, Little House on the Prairie was actually filmed on the land used to
film Bonanza, in California. Learned that little tidbit several years ago,

Now, I'll say Good Thursday morning, everyone!! Coffee is on, and juice is made for
this morning. Believe it or not, our temp actually got down to 59 this morning!! I turned
off the fan in the living room, because my goose bumps had goose bumps!!

Breakfast this morning: sausage, bacon, sausage gravy, biscuits, and scrambled
eggs.

New neighbors - after 5 weeks, lots of door banging, one session of stealing our two papers practically right in front of our eyes - left lock, stock and almost the entire barrel last Friday early morning.

Left a rented big screen tv that is almost as big as our Q bed, lots of clutter, food and......kool-aid stains all over the brand new carpet.

All is quiet again on the western front!

Tree - I like the handled dog! Needs a small sailor hat!

MC - send water. We still didn't get much of anything. I have heard of sewer rats, but don't think sewer and chicken is good.
Ah - a rose by any other name....GAK!

I am off to find some more future neighbors to annoy! Maybe I can get them before they moof in.....?

Mookie, you better get that TV before somebody else does. [:o)] Sounds like the trash left the trash, except for the TV. Actually I am surprised they didn't take the TV too. They are probally behind on the weekly payments for it. If they left that quickly, sounds like they had more problems than we will ever know. You probally are much better off without them, and probally a little safer too. [^]

Speaking of weekly payments . . . we have a new place in town that actually rents the tires for your car and rims too. You can RENT a pair of rims OR tires for one week for $9.95. They do have rims and tires that cost more if you so desire. Let's see, 2 pair of tires at 9.95 = $19.90. If you rent both rims and tires double that to make $39.80 a week for tires and rims that you do not own and can not keep. Gee, what a deal. NOT Remember, those are just the cheapos, you can go up to 49.95 for a pair of tires or rims. Those "dealers" must be laughing all the way to the bank.

The 4th was busy, moreso than I expected. [B)] But the railroads don't shut down as much now as they did in the past. They did try to run fewer trains last Thanksgiving and Christmas. It seems like the train crews helped out too by having a little "holiday" sickness [:0] which also slowed things down.

It sure was nice to have a day off yesterday. I didn't get much done around or in the house but that is ok. As mookie would say, they can wait. [;)]

There is nothing special going on weather-wise. It is hot and humid and dry. The state had scattered showers for the last two days but it might rain for a minute, then the sun would come out for 15. They would take turns but no significiant amount of rain fell, just enought to make it worse. [:(]

I noticed our gas prices went back up before the 4th holiday. I have not looked since last Saturday but the price then was $2.99 for premium unleaded and $2.79 for regular. I am afraid by next year at this time that $2.79 a gallon will be a bargain. I hope I am wrong.

I got an instant message from Zach yesterday. He and Kevin were on Peak's Island out in the Atlantic. They stopped in at a library to use the computers and keep in touch with everbody.

Well today is my Monday again. [:(]

Lunch and supper tonight will have the same menu: beef stew, cornbread,
pickled beets, and corn on the cob.

Desserts today: apple, cherry and peach cobblers, chocolate pie, and pecan
pie. (And, of course, the prerequisite chocolate cake and white cake.

Mookie, think Mutt's got the right idea: let you and Driver interview prospective
next door neighbors for the duplex!! You could do a background check and
everything on them. [^][}:)]

But when you only work 2.5 days in a week (eat your hearts out, guys!) it is hard to keep track of what day it is - ho hum!
