Sarah, I'm glad to hear you're okay--I'd been worried, even though I'm "not allowed" to be.

You'll have to tell me sometime how badly flooded (or damaged) the tracks that we walked along got. Did they have to put loaded cars on the bridge over the river near Abrams to keep it stabilized? That's what they did during Agnes, IIRC.

Happy birthday, Chad!

The land of no weather is looking mighty good this morning!

Sure glad we have coffee in the diner - we are out of the real stuff here and the pop machine is on the fritz!

May have to leave and go hunt down real caffeine! Can't function w/o at least a little in the morning.

Noah - uh Sarah - now would not be the time to take up boating! Think high!

<~> - CW..... I brought in an unlicked blueberry pie. But I forgot that I like blueberry pie, too, so......well, the dish is in the sink.

Good Friday morning, everyone! I imagine several are already starting their long weekend
this morning, and won't be in here.

So breakfast is on the light side. I have set out
several different boxes of cereal, and there's milk in the fridge. Of course, the
coffee is made, and there's fresh orange juice in the fridge.

Here's a special greeting for all diner patrons and guests:

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!!

Alas, I am here. But with Monday being my "regular day off" and the 4th on Tuesday, I get a 4 day weekend. Gonna be busy, though - Saturday, Sunday, and Monday I'll be riding with the Adirondack (last I knew the Thendara run was on, but the Utica trains have been cancelled). Saturday night is clear, but on Sunday night I'm riding EMS bicycle patrol for some fireworks, then, if I get back from the railroad in time, on Monday night I'm helping man a fireboat for more fireworks (on the St Lawrence). Not planning on working the railroad on Tuesday (that could change, but I need a day off in there somewhere), and then back on the river for more fireworks. Last year I ended up in the middle of a boat rescue after the fireworks...

Sarah has lots more water coming her way. The Delaware River isn't even close to being done yet.

Good Morning All,

One more day of 90ºF+ temps, and then we'll get a brief respite, with perhaps a chance of some rain? (albeit, in the form of severe thunderstorns dropping a lot of rain in little time). While it would be nice to have just a nice soaking two or three day rain, I guess we'll have to take what we can get. I suppose I really shouldn't be talking about rain, though, as I'm sure some eastern folks are starting to regard rain as a four-letter word.

No major plans for the weekend, but I have a couple minor excursions planned. Might spend some time in RMNP / Indian Peaks Wilderness. Come to think of it, I haven't been above timberline this year. Might have to go "get high" over the weekend. Should make another run on Taylor Peak. That bugger has turned me around twice. Last time, I was roughly 200 Vert. feet from the summit when my cousin and I started doing our best lightning rod impressions. (Note to all...when your hair starts standing on end, it means you are in the ionizing path of a potential lightning bolt and it's time to get out of there double time!)

Of course I'll have to try to find some fireworks, too. Was thinking about heading over by Denver Union Station and seeing if I could frame anything up with the show after the Rockies game. I think that has the potential to be pretty neat (though I'm not sure yet where I'm going to set up, and how I'm going to shoot). I guess I'll know in due time.

Well, to all of you traveling this weekend, hope you have safe, enjoyable trips. If you're staying in, I'll catch you over the weekend!

TTFN!

For our regular Friday Fish Fry, we've got, for your eating enjoyment:

cod fish, perch, and hallibut w/the prerequisite fries and slaw.

For Dessert this weekend, I've made several cakes (1 chocolate, 1 yellow,
and 1white) with a "flag" decoration on the top: white frosting, strawberries
and blueberries. Ice creams will be chocolate, vanilla, and neopolitan.

Sleep? Always a priority! Even the dog reminds me to take naps (with her, of course).

Adding the Adirondack RR to my life has filled up a lot of hours. Last year I'd have spent more of them on the water, sailing. No place to regularly store the boat this year, so the rails are filling the time. That two hour commute doesn't help any...

Next weekend it's time off from the RR, but time for EMS bike patrol at another large event in the area. Huge flea market, big parade, and fireworks that evening. Sunday will be an "off" day - to take care of some home projects...

The flooding in the southern tier will likely cause cancellation of another weekend event I'd have done - a firemen's field days. The field is currently under several feet of Delaware River water. Sarah - keep an eye out for plastic "Hancock Fire Department" beer mugs.....

Now, what's this fifth that Mookie is talking about....[:p]

Tree you are right about the Delaware, it's only the begining. But, of course we still have flooding going on downstreem in certain areas of Northeast Philly. Not to mention Conshohocken, West Norrton, Noristown, Mayunk all long the Schyukill River are still flooded.

Carl, glad to hear that you were worried about me. I have to say that I'm sorry I don't know what is going on at Abrams yard along the west banks of the Schyukill River, I haven't been over there in a while. I will let you know what is going on as soon as I find out. I also have to find a way to cross the river, because the two bridges are closed, so I have to find an alternate route.

Joe, that popcorn and lemonade sound real goooood!! Think I'll take a bowl of
popcorn, and tall glass of lemonade. Thank you, kind sir!!

We had some thunder this afternoon, and just enough rain to make it very muggy
around 6 p.m. here. The rain wasn't much more than a steady drizzle.

Good late evening all......

Writing from Burlington tonight, at my parents house through the fourth, I see not much has changed, except the roads around here got rougher. Good ole' Burlington roadwork[B)][B)][B)]

Supposed to get very warm and humid for the weekend, and the weather forcasters have predicted severe weather for tomorrow and Sunday. I'd be glad to send the gents in Colorado and Arizona some of the rain.

I'll be hanging close to here most of the weekend, everyone take care, and for god's sake, be careful with the fireworks this weekend!!

Joe, thank you for putting the coffee on, making the juice, and for the patriotic dough-
nuts this morning!!

Randy, we're supposed to have the humidity start climbing back up today. and they
say it'll really be high tomorrow. They are predicting that we'll have thunderstorms
for Tuesday. I'm going to enjoy Tuesday: NO PRODUCE!! That means, we
will not have anybody coming and ringing the doorbell at 7 a.m. That will be some-
thing to celebrate, along with our country's birthday!!

How many will be around for tonight's Pizza Fest? Want to make sure that I
don't make too many pizzas.

Everyone take care, and have a safe day!!

Is there any better way to spend an evening? I'd doubt it! Hope you and Matt have fun, Joe!

CW, I don't think I can make the pizza party, but if you stick a slice in the refrigerator, I might come in and grab it late tonight. Thanks!

Evening all......

Getting ugly around here, according to the weather radio, severe storm and tornado warnings are up for Fond du Lac county, storms are headed towards the Milwaukee area. Looks like Summerfest will be cut short tonight.

Was hot and humid today, hit 90 in Milwaukee. I helped my sister work on her room at the local daycare, then trimmed a few branches at home so I can get my truck in the driveway without knocking my antennae off.

See everyone later.

Good Sunday morning, everyone!

Joe, thank you for putting the coffee on, and making the juice.

Breakfast this morning: sliced cantaloupe, sliced watermelon, oatmeal, toast,
and your choice of turkey bacon or sausage.

Sunday Dinner today: lasagna w/your choice of garlic bread, garlic sticks, or
Texas garlic toast, with a nice garden salad. It'll be ready by 1 p.m. EDT, and
there is plenty made, and will be out on the warmer bar, so help yourselves.
But you'll have to go to the cooler for the salads.

Desserts today: German chocolate cake, brownies with fudge icing, and your
choice of the following ice creams: vanilla, neopolitan, peach, Snickers, and
Milky Way.

Have an enjoyable day, watch out for others out there, and stay safe.
