CW,
Know what you mean about the sinuses. Going through it now.

I'll take a couple grilled cheese if you don't mind.

Thanks

CW - hope you get to feeling better! Need to teach you how to breathe through your ears - then it won't hurt your nose so much!

Brian (KY) as long as the family is sharing that same meal - I looked at the menu and ran and hid!

Tree - it is on line, sans the firefighter and rest of the street. But a good face shot of Engine 8!

I see that - no wonder they want to replace that engine - it is an old timer...

I'll have to check in with the LSJ every now and then to see how the scandal works out. I've bought new fire trucks before - late is nothing new.

They can't buy popcorn in this town w/o a scandal. You should have seen it when the LFD took over the ambulance service. I had a real headache by the time all was said and done!

The only problem I have - when I watch COPS - (I have no social life) - the bigger cities send the police and sometimes a fire truck. Rarely does a medic show up until later. Here, they dispatch LFD and a medic unit at the same time along with the police. So many of those calls turn out that the medic unit wasn't needed ( our engines are all at least BLS and a lot of them are ALS, also.) I think I have that right - someone will correct me if not. Anyway - I would save some $ and not send the medic/ambulance until the firefighter/paramedics called for one.

But....

1 - I don't know the inside info

2 - they didn't ask!

Joe, thank you for grilling the burgers and brats for supper tonight. Think I'll
take one burger, please. Gee, wonder what kind of cake you're making!! Cho-
colate, perhaps?

Still feeling kind of blah this evening. Did manage to get out for a few, and
go with Mutt over to the tracks about 1 p.m.

Around here they send a fire truck with the EMS guys......not sure whether it's to help out or because they know all the soccer moms enjoy watching the firemen[:0]

There are a lot of ways that gets handled. In some places where EMS is handled by a "third party" provider (typically a private company) the FD still runs a unit. When an ambulance gets there depends on how busy they are at the moment. Many of the FD units are BLS. Sometimes the ambulance beats the fire truck.

Phoenix, AZ often runs a paramedic engine or ladder truck out first, then rolls the transport unit if they are needed. Many of their ambulances are only staffed BLS - if ALS is needed on the transport the medic from the fire truck rides.

Many locales use "emergency medical dispatch" or EMD to screen the call and determine an appropriate level of response, and sometimes whether the patient will even be transported.

In my case, the FD runs BLS "first responder" ahead of the ambulance and begins patient assessment and treatment. We also serve as pathfinders for the ambulance sometimes.

There's no one answer. A lot depends on what the customers want for service...

Up here the OFD and OPD work well together. All the staff of the FD is Firefighter and Paramedic. When PD is called the FD monitors and usually, unless it's obviously needed, rolls w/o lights & siren in the area 'just in case' for some calls. Others it's an automatic full response.

Thank you, everyone, for the birthday wishes I've received so far. Think it's going
to be a better day than yesterday (hopefully the sinuses are through draining).

I've got my cup (mug) of coffee, and I'll take a cinnamon roll w/white icing, and
head for the rocker!! Hope you're by the rocker,Mookie, and we'll have some nice,
good ole girl chat.

OK - In honor of CW's Day we'll handle lunch - And it being summer-like here (and across a fair part of the country), we'll do a summer lunch - burgers and dogs (hot Italian sausage for the strong of stomach). Onions and peppers available (grilled, of course). Your choice of salads - potato, macaroni (with and without peas), coleslaw, three bean. Enjoy!

Larry, I brought some veggie burgers and some turkey burgers for those who choose or those (like me) who can't eat beef.

Happy Birthday, CW, milk's on me today (couple of gallons straight out of the bulk tank).[dinner][bday][bday]

A little cool here in Madison today, forecast is for mid-fifties and clouds. Supposed to warm up in time for the weekend.

Work? Well.... Let's just say it's gonna get ugly before it gets better, just hope they get more people in there soon.

I'll take a burger or two, Larry, with some potato salad.

Ryan, [#welcome] to the Diner! Joe and Larry (tree 068) are grilling today for
lunch.

Really enjoying my birthday today. Later on this evening, I'll either be calling,
or will receive a call from my twin brother. Would really love to see him in
person, but I'll settle for the phone call, and hearing his voice!!

Think I'm ready for a burger, some baked beans, and corn on the cob. And a
slice of chocolate cake for dessert.

Well [bday] to you Cherokee Woman!

Wishing you the best on your special day.

Are you Native American? I have some Houma blood from one of my great grandmothers who belonged to the Houma Tribe in south Louisiana.

Since the grill is fired up, Joe and Larry, I think a burger with fries sounds great. And some cheese too please!
