Greetings everyone! It's been a long while since I've had a chance to drop in but when I saw BLT and veggie soup I couldn't resist! Work is keeping me extremely busy (funny thing since I took this job to work LESS hours) but I'm getting by. Glad to see you all again!

Mike, [#welcome] back to the fold!! Also glad you liked the lunch menu for today!!

I'm getting ready to fire up the grill in a little bit. Haven't seen any more supper
suggestions, other than Mookie's "troll". Sorry Mook, but I'm fresh out of trolls
right now (and don't want to find any lurking about in here, either)!! Do think that
I will add corn on the cob to the grill, though. Would any one like any baked beans,
or would you rather have porknbeans?

Afternoon all.....

A little wet here this afternoon, we had some light rain move through here in the past few hours, supposed to clear up and be nice for the forseeable future.

I got my first look at FedEx suspensions last night, the plumbing and wiring on these looks like a spaghetti factory exploded, wires and air lines everywhere! I've been told it takes two people 45 minutes to an hour to plumb and wire one unit, sounds like we have to do nine of these a night.

The city of Madison is rebuilding the main east-west artery out the east side of Madison, and part of this project involves replacing a bridge over a river. The other day, they had to reduce traffic on the remaining portion of the bridge (the north half has been demolished already) due to damage found on the bridge. Oops. Now it's just one big traffic jam over there.

Be in at around 3am for late dinner.

Randy - Lincoln is going to rebuild their viaduct - the heart of the east/west traffic to and from town. It will be a major headache - because people won't know how to get from point A to point B without driving way out of their way and because people won't know how to get from point A to point B without driving way out of their way.

Got peanut butter for that jam?

I was thinking about suggesting COTC, but I figured it wouldn't be much good seeing as how Iowa corn isn't in season yet...[:D]

I'll vote for baked beans!

CW,
I would like to hav a couple hot dogs if you don't mind.
If you would have happened to have made some baked beans, I'll take some of that also. What about cottage cheese? That goes good with a grill out also.

Looks as though we are in for a decent rain overnight in our area. They are calling for ours late tonight into the morning with possible partial clearing.

To both Brians, and everyone else: I did remember to put some corn on the cob
on the grill, and I did make both baked beans and porknbeans. There is also
some cottage cheese (yuck). Like I've said before, I'll fix some things for every-
one else, that I absolutely will not eat!! And there are plenty of hot dogs on
the grill, along with everything else.

Brian (IA), that's o.k., I almost have frozen corn in the freezer. Country girls do
know how to freeze fresh corn on the cob to have in the off-growing season!![:D]

Brian (KY), we're supposed to have rain coming in sometime late tonight, early
tomorrow morning. Possibly thunderstorms. Sure do hope that they're not too
bad

Nope - bit far to the city (over 250 miles as the crow flies), but it did turn out some prodigious smoke! Saw the news on it. A retired FDNY deputy chief gave a lecture here today and he mentioned it, too.

Ten alarms would bring at least 50 apparatus (plus some special equipment) to the scene. News reports indicated 400 firefighters on the scene. Fireboats also responded. Fifty apparatus would clean out just about every firehouse in my county, and most others as well...

Joe,
We go to the SKYLINE that is at the Richwood exit (I-75)in Boone Co. Ky at least once or twice a week.

Here is my menu that they know well there.
Regular Burrito w/onions
Chili Cheese Coney no mustard
Side of sour cream
And a Dr. Pepper in to go cup.

You can't beat the taste of Skyline Chili.

And what about them Redlegs!!!!! Looks like the new ownership might have helped.

Hey Brian from IA,
I am a big L&N Railroad fan. I took my ID from "LOUIS"ville & "NASH"ville.
I grew up on the L&N Corbin Division (Cincinnati-Corbin KY), now CSX CC Sub. I currently live very close to the NS 1st District CNO&TP (Cincinnati-Danville KY).
I wanted something a little different.

Good Thursday morning, everyone. Well, the Delta Queen won the steamboat
race yesterday. The Belle can't win every year.[:(] Today is the Pegasus Parade,
with Muhammad Ali as grand marshall. Today and tomorrow, from 11 to 1, I
think, he'll be at his museum, signing autographs. The only way I'll see him is
on TV. This is one week I won't be downtown, with all the people in town for the
Derby. It's too crowded down there.

So far, it's a beautiful morning here, with no rain. Sun is trying to peak out from
the clouds.

Breakfast this morning: breakfast sandwiches: biscuits with sausage, egg,
cheese, ham.

Cool! My middle name is Louis, so I was wondering if there was a coincidence there.

One of those sausage/egg/cheese biscuits sounds really good right now, with OJ to wash it down!

So much news - so little time:

Joe - I can't be there, but will send a box car of kitty litter - watch for blue and a big paw print.

CW - try cottage cheese with a little sugar or Equal or whatever. I can't eat it plain, but with Equal it is good. (don't gag guys - I like bananas in milk with a little sugar/Equal - same thing only you substitute cheese product!)

MC - it's cuz you are higher than all of us - closer to the noise makers

Tree - we got a new fire engine across the intersection! The truck was replaced a few years back. This has a strange horn so knew before they even announced it something was different. Has a lot more white on it than old one.

Brian(Ky) - do you eat alone?

I am going to back away now and head for the hammock. Need a light blanket this morning. Paws are cold...

Man, I'm slipping. It's Derby week! Steamboat races, big parties and the "Run for the Roses". I'd actually take a day off from railroads and stuff to go to Churchill Downs on Saturday, but Mutt is right about the crowds and the traffic. And if you didn't reserve hotel rooms, the nearest vacancies might be 200 miles out of town.

Been there a couple of times, so I guess coverage on TV will work.

It was "Rigged" as per usual again this year;the Belle of Cincinnati didn't race
with the other two,it was the "Judge" boat;so naturally they "Judged" for the
Delta Queen !![(-D]

Jay; You are so correct about seeing the "events" around here during the time
leading up to the Derby;unless you are VERY wealthy, know some one that is,
or lucky enough to have a very good vantage point, you really can see more on the TV.
(plus, you aren't spending all that hard earned money on gas, just sitting in traffic!)

Morning All

Chad

I am looking into the future and while there will check out the new bed. [:D] [:o)] [:D]

Well I think MC has sent me his weather WITH rain. It is raining pretty good right now. Poor Duchess, spoiled as she is, doesn't like to walk in the rain. [B)]
And this is my Monday, and it is raining, and I am down. (Think of song by Carpenders [;)] )

I just checked the state's dobler radar. Our forecast was for 60% chance. I would hate to see what a 100% chance looked like. Awww now I see how they do it, well over 60% of the state is getting rain. So when they say 60% chance then 60% of the state will get rain while the other 40% is high and dry. [;)] Right? [:D]

Looking at the national radar it looks like 844 may be in some rain too. [:(] I hate that for those trying to see it. [V] I rode behind the 3985 once in a dome car and in the afternoon it started to rain, not heavy but still rain.

Well, Everyone Take Care

Station 8 and it was in the Lincoln Journal Star paper this morning. Big picture - in fact two of them. I didn't check the website of LJS, but if you look at the picture taken from behind the new engine (with a nice firefighter in the middle of it, the trees in the background are hiding our duplex! Our big night to go is on Saturday with the family. If we don't go there we go get Hoagies in Covington. I try to go once for lunch at work during the week.. The boys usually get child 3 ways. My wife usually gets a chicken wrap with extra chicken.

I always ask her why you go to a chili parlor if you're going to eat chicken. That's what we have the Colonel for in KY.

Sorry Brian and everyone else for lunch being. late. I've not felt too well this
morning, and went back to sleep (good ole sinus headache). Not feeling
too much better, though.

Lunch for today: tomato soup w/grilled cheese sandwiches, tuna salad
sandwiches, and BLTs. If you're really hungry, take a sandwich of each
with your bowl of tomato soup.
