I guess I'd better have one--and only one!--slice of pineapple supreme to go with the salad I made for work and then left at home.

Rough day.

...16.3 degrees in Muncie at sunup...{typically the coldest time of the morning}, and looks like a pretty sunrise and sunny day upcoming. No wind.

QM We have the same as you-except take away the 16. I think 17 is our forecast high. Cabin fever is starting to set in.

Good morning everyone! Joe: thank you for setting out the cinnamon rolls,
and getting the coffee, juice, and cocoa ready. You all be careful on your
trip to Lima, and back home tonight. And to go along with the cinnamon
rolls, I've warmed up the leftover pizza for anyone who wants that this
morning.

I think we are also pushing records here. The stats reported on my natural gas bill for the past month indicate 39 degrees average high last year vs. 29 this year. Between that and the higher rates? Let's just say that a jackpot winning lottery ticket would be useful.

Our paper this morning says that it should turn slightly warmer by the end of this week--maybe even up to 40 one day. Cold as it's been, it was nice to see the sun yesterday and the moon last night (or was that the night before?).

I'm taking the day off today--we'll take our older daughter to see Santa (and see how her daughter reacts to that!), and maybe view our church's live nativity scene this evening--those poor kids, in these temperatures!

A word about seeing Santa. This is all part of a special Sunday brunch at the place where both of our daughters' wedding receptions were held. It ought to be fun. And just for today I'll be happy to let the folks at work put up with the new guy instead of me. I suspect that more than one person will be telling me tomorrow how much I was missed.

Good Morning All [:)]

How is everyone this fine, sunny, but cold day? Mitchell (Sask_Tinplater) sent me a very nice railroad book and some photos as a Christmas present. I stayed up late last night looking at it. It is a good book on Canadian railroading. I like it. [:)]

I am looking forward to a little warmer weather. I hope the predictions that warmer weather is in the works are true. I got the gas bill yesterday, but have been afriad to open it. [B)] I am on level billing but that does not mean that it will not go up.

Well, work is work what else can you say about work. [;)]

Everyone have a good day and remember me at work. [^]

The beef stew and cornbread are ready, and waiting to be dished up. It's on
the warmer bar, so help yourself (and DON'T make a mess!!)

Mutt and I just finished watching "Polar Express" and we both heartily
recommend everyone getting the DVD and watching it! (Especially if you
weren't able to go see it, or get it when it came out.) Mutt and I both
heartily agree: It's a MUST SEE movie!!

Well lets see what I did today........... I went to an ice hockey game today! I was invited about a week ago by my old coach to play in a scrimage game with this year's team, the Raiders. I still have both my jerseys from when I was on the team and my most recent one which has the letter A on it for Asst. Captin. (I left the team as an Asst, Captin). It was a lot of fun, even though I am very tired from the game. I do have to say that many of the guys on this year's team can play, man I was impressed with some of them, the oldest person on the team is 17. Today I was the oldest and the only girl on the team. Some of the guys were very suprised at some of the things I did. Some were also surprised that I was an Asst. Captain. My position was Center durring the game, though I normally play left wing. I scored two goals one was during the 1st period and the other was in the 3rd period which, set my team off (Raiders) into overtime with the other team (Glaciers). We won in OT, it was a very close game and was really compeitive.

So.CW I'm looking forward to that beef stew w/cornbread and tossed salad! I think I'll take a vanella cake with any iceing on it but strawberry for desert please. [:D]

Thank you very much! I'll take a nice big piece of triple chocolate overload. Or, if that's not available, a big piece of spice cake. And the beef stew sure was gooooood.

Good Monday morning, everyone!! Coffee and hot chocolate/cocoa are
ready for consumption, and the juice is ready also.

Hope everyone is ready for the countdown this week, to get your last-
minute shopping done, getting the presents wrapped, etc.

Mookie, how was the party Friday night? Sure hope you didn't "party
too hardy."

Breakfast this morning: your choice of oatmeal and toast, or sausage,
scrambled eggs, and biscuits and gravy.

Lunch today: leftover beef stew from yesterday: I sure made more than
enough yesterday. Have Christmas music playing in the Diner, and
railroad songs playing in the Coffee Shop side. See some of you have
finally decorated some of the layouts for Christmas.

I'm here! Congrats Brian - I like you in Green!

Party was fun and pretty laid back - even with an open bar. We were done at 9 pm and home and in bed by 10. The neighbors "accidently/on purpose" rang our doorbell at 3:45 am. I will refrain from expounding except to say - I have no clue! 43 days and counting!

Watched some trains this weekend, but since only 6 above this morning - activity was "curl - tailed"....Ha BC!

Driver off now until 1/3/06 and will take me each afternoon after I get off work. Have him home cleaning today. No rest.....

Hear from the grapevine that Willy2 will be back on forums. He is one of our younger citizens and likes to watch trains in the Omaha/Fremont area. Straight A student - I am so pleased I am an aquaintance of his!

Off for coffee - maybe a nap in the hammock until mail comes! (I see Walt installed a warmer on the hammock - sigh....) [^]

Mookie, Walt says "Just don't knead the cord too much! We don't need it to
get frayed, and singe your fur!!" He figured you would enjoy a nice warmer
on the hammock, to make your rests and naps more comfy!!!

That stuff coming in from NE is still making this an ice box.....4.5 degrees at 8 am this morning but sun is shining bright...{on my computer screen}, now and it has really nice warmth to it...We're to manage 20 degrees today. We're avg. more than 12 degrees below normal now so far for December...! That's a chunk.

Good morning, all- thanks Mook, I like myself in green as well. We're still at minus two degrees here, I think it said -7 when I got up.

Received some sad news from up north early this morning- my 91-year-old grandmother passed away. So the family gathering has suddenly moved up a couple of days to the 23rd, and will be much bigger and in a different location.

An interesting aside to share with all of you- as you may have noticed in the picture of our house a few pages back, we have low-voltage lighting arranged in the landscaping (hard to see them buried in the snow, but they're there). I have those lights rigged into a timed plug-in that comes on automatically at dusk and then shuts off six hours later, usually around 11 PM. Around 3 AM this morning my wife woke me and said that she thought she heard glass breaking somewhere. So, naturally I had to get up and take the big flashlight from under the bed to check things out. Everything looked fine- no broken glass anywhere, and nothing moving outside, but I noticed something very odd- the landscape lights were still on! About 6 AM this morning we got the call from my mom telling us that Grandma had passed away around 2 AM. It was still dark after that call, so I checked the lights- they were off. After putting two and two together, I really believe that Grandma was sending us the message that she was finally at peace.
Neat, huh?

My condolences, Brian, on the loss of your gransmother. I'm glad you could rearrange things. When my grandmother died I was unable to get off work for any part of the funeral services--saw only the fresh soil on her gravesite in the dead of winter. The good memories of a good life are still there, though, and always will be. I hope it's the same for you.

Nearly noon now, and we've crept up to the plus side on temperatures. Pat and I stood out in single-digit temperatures last night to see the live Nativity scene put on by our church. The cold didn't seem to bother the participants all that much, and the hot chocolate that was served afterwards--inside--was greatly appreciated.

I'm looking forward to a nice warm lunch! Then it's off to work. Daughter and son-in-law are coming in from California tomorrow night; I hope they bring some warm air with them, and use the runway at Midway in the right direction!

Brian, Mutt and I are very sorry to hear about grandmother. You and your
family have our deepest condolences. We will keep you in our
prayers. And as you said, she's in peace now.

The beef stew is warmed up, nice and hot, and fresh cornbread coming
out of the oven.

Brian:

My condolences to you and your family, I hope you still have a good holiday. For me it's hard to believe that my grandfather passed away nearly thirteen years ago (March 15, 1993). I still miss him at times.

Well, It was -7 here this morning, so far it's gotten up to 8, forcast of 12 today. The good news is that by the end of the week, it's supposed to be around freezing. Let's hope they're right.

Well, come Thursday, I'm going back home to Burlington for Christmas, so I'll be sporadic on here this coming weekend (like I'm not already), but I'll try to keep in touch.

See everyone later.
