Well, I finished my Christmas decorating. I got red and green inserts for my braces (pretty daring for a conservative 41-year-old[:D]) Just my way of having a "holiday smile"!

Never fear, Jay: I have a whole supply of chocolate cakes, baked, iced, and
in the freezer. They're with the white cakes, yellow cakes, German chocolate
cakes, black forrest cakes, etc.

Someone give me a suggestion for supper tonight. Nothing too hard, cause
it'll need to be ready in about three, four hours.[C=:-)][dinner]

At least I've got a good knowledge of basic photography after years with a "plain old" Pentax. The fun part is learning all of the 20 or so buttons and dials so I can use the many features without having to get out the book every time.

So far, though, so good. I am absolutely loving this camera.

Burgers and fries (here comes Matt!). Plain old hamburgers, cheese burgers, there must be a little of that chili left for chiliburgers. Seems like I saw lettuce, onions, and tomatoes in the cooler for those who like to fancy them up some, and if you want some added taste without all the cholesterol, some of CW's famous turkey bacon.

Larry, you are a genius! Burgers, cheeseburgers, and bacon/cheeseburgers
are on the menu for tonight!! Thank you so very much, kind sir!! And yes, there
is some chilli left for chilli burgers. There will be plenty of fries on hand, so
that Matt can have plenty, along with the rest of us. As Larry said, there is
plenty of lettuce, tomatoes, and onion slices to dress them up.

Sarah, dear heart, you are NOT getting old!! There are times when all
of us have trouble thinking of things to say. How about I put a tape on of
Christmas songs by The Carpenters, and maybe an Oak Ridge Boys tape
of Christmas music.

Hope everyone is enjoying the burgers and fries tonight.

Tom, so very sorry to hear about your grandmother. But I'd say she led a
very fullfilled life in her 98 years! Know you will miss her always. Glad you
all made it back home safe and sound.

Breakfast this morning: turkey bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, and
biscuits & gravy and your choice of fried potatoes or hash browns.

Lunch today will be: soup and sandwiches, cause I know there will
be some of you who aren't finished Christmas shopping, and will be out
finishing up.

Merry Christmas to all!!

Was out around town last night and was really amazed at the lack of traffic, especially considering that the weather the night before was atrocious. I'm staying home tonight...

Lunch sounds good...

Good Morning All!!!
Everybody watch CNN tomorrow as there will probably be a story about a 52 longhair musician/trainfreak dancing around naked in the snow in his backyard! It's supposed to get almost 50 degrees on the sandbar today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No work today, Mama has to, so I've got the whole house to myself and the wonder mutt. Had to bite my tongue to keep from going "Neener, Neener" as she walked out the door.[(-D]
CW- biscuits and gravy/extra gravy. Just like Arlo said: "You can get anything you want, at CW's restaraunt". Hopefully all the Diner workers get X-Mas Eve and Day off. Also, has the boss handed out Christmas bonuses yet. You guys deserve every penny.
Breaking news story: Had our Christmas for all the kids/stepkids and granchillens last night. Five operators under the age 7 and one dispatcher on "The Rock" upstairs last night. Not a piece of rolling stock left standing on the tracks. Guess I need to hold a class on "Throttle Control 101", but the smiles on their faces: priceless. Granpa is growing a whole cult of train nuts. Have one 2 year old female conductor cutie ( with horns growing out of her head) that simply points to the ceiling and says "Choo-Choo".
Kinda hard to say "No, granPa's tired tonight". She'll sit in the other stool and watch them go around for an hour. Have about an hour of work on the MOW crew this morning to reset the cars, but no major damage done and we got some good pics of every one in the room. The memories far outweigh the damage. That's what Christmas is all about.
From the sports desk: ATTENTION! YOUNGER VIEWERS GO TO A DISNEY SITE!
Jay: It has been reported to this sports desk that next year the Packers are going to be combining forces with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They are going to be called
"The Tamp-Packs" (figure it out). They still aren't going to be any good though, as they are only going to be good for one period and have no second string.[(-D] And now back to the news room.
Had a local alderman and former cop drive through the gates at a crossing in the quad cities yesterday. Train was local switcher and only going 5MPH so no loss of life, just damage to car. They took a blood sample to see if alcohol was involved. DUHHHHH!

Well the MOW crew is setting on the floor giving me "puppy dog eyes" wondering when we are going to go upstairs and get to work. (in whisper-"She thinks SHE'S the supervisor") so had better get to work.
Just want to wish all my friends ( and I'm sure a foe or two after all the Packer jokes) a very Merry Christmas out there in Diner land. Hope everyone gets together with their loved ones and thinks about the ones that can't be here. Also everybody needs to do a prayer for ALL that are on the other side of the world, regardless of our individual political views of that smirking piece of slime in the oval office. (Did I just say that?)
There are many like our resident soldier Mark Hemphill (which we haven't heard from in a while, Hope everything's OK) that will not be enjoying Christmas like us. Stay safe boys! No parent deserves that kind of bad news on Christmas. Let's all keep them in our hearts and make our Chistmas wish a safe return for them all!

So to all my friends that I've made in the Diner: MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! Thanks for all the good times in 2005. (Hope the mice don't take over the place now that a certain kitty is going to be gone for awhile. Better set out some sticky traps.)

CW, I'd kill for a PB&J sammich but I'm not ready yet to break down and eat it with a knife and fork. Only 23 more months until I can bite into anything (hopefully I'll get the braces off then). So i'll take a cream of potato soup.

Trainnutz, you're like Mutt: without his bottom teeth, he's (and I) are having
trouble finding foods that will be soft enough for him to chew. Have to make
sure I cook things till they're very, very soft for him. And it's going to be several
more months before he gets any bottom dentures. He has to go and have some
more work done on his lower gum.

Supper tonight: shrimp with seafood sauce, or tarter sauce, and fries. To go
orders will be ready in just a few minutes. Otherwise, for everyone else, supper
will be ready at 5:30, EST. Dessert tonight will be strawberry Jell-O, or mixed
fruit Jell-O with Cool Whip. And the Jell-O is shaped like Christmas trees,
wreaths, Santa, reindeer, and stars.

My brother-in-law one year made my mother a jello candy cane. He used cool-whip for the white stripes and Knox gelatin with prune juice for the cane itself. They were always doing tricks like that for holidays and birthdays. Be careful what you eat when they're around!

Hi all, just checking in from the great white north up in Minnesota. We are now settled in at my parents' home near Minneapolis after a long day of attending a funeral, visiting with relatives I haven't seen in ages, and driving. I probably won't be on much until we get back home, as I need to help Mom get ready for the rest of the family arriving for Christmas here. So, I'll take this opportunity to wish everyone on the forum a
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

My family will be traveling to Michigan later today (Saturday), and will spend time with both my family and my wife's. I have to stay home and work tonight. It now appears that we'll not be working Sunday, so I'll be at home whenever the family returns.

Merry Christmas to those who are on the road and will be away from the Diner for a while. I'll be poking my head in from time to time.
