Evenin' All
Been workin' on The Rock upstairs all week at night, so haven't been in Diner much. Been hiding under benchwork soldering feeder lines to buss wires. Oh my aching back!
But what a difference! Cost of seeing your favorite SW switcher from your childhood poke around in the "yard" at a scale 10 mph without sputtering and stalling: priceless!
Catching up: [bday] WALT!!!!!! Sorry I missed the cake!
Jim- Congrats on 10K and kudos for opening this Diner, have met some wonderful friends in here. I'll have some cake.
Well, it's late Sunday night and it's pretty empty in the Diner. Everybody must be partied out. Figured the sugar rush from the cake would keep everyone up late.
Well got to get to bed and get ready for another week at work [banghead] [zzz]

Was in here when we tripped 10,000, but had to run to get supplies for this week. Anyway, great party, decided to swing by and grab another batch of party food.

Learned on Saturday night that Gorgonzola (I think that's spelled right) cheese is an aquired taste, but it was a very interesting flavor on top of the chicken I had for dinner at Pizzeria Uno, my second favorite restaurant behind the Depot Diner.

Sadly, Bucky lost this weekend at Barry Alverez's last home game of his career, but I hear the Packers won, which is a surprise, I thought the Falcons were a good team.

I left some nice soft B.B. King and John Lee Hooker music playing in the Jukebox, nothing like the soft baselines of these artists to get one relaxed.

Talk to everyone later.

Good morning, one and all!! Man, that was a terrific celebration in here yesterday!
Now, though, it's back to the ole grind stone, until next week, when we'll all be
getting ready for the big Turkey Day (Thanksgiving, of course).

Breakfast this morning: after all we had yesterday in here, today's breakfast will
be: cantaloupe and watermelon slices. Eat all you want of it, have plenty on hand.

Lunch: leftovers from the party yesterday. And that includes plenty of the cakes.

Supper: beef stew w/cornbread.

Wow - this place is a disaster! I thought I felt the earth move on Sunday at the house!

Now I know why.

Belated Yippee from this corner of the diner. And to show what a good citizen/cat I am - I watched a rerun of Cops on Sat night and was more interested in the BNSF 4 pack running behind the parties involved than I was in the arrest! Wi***hey would have filmed that instead of the meth-head female!

Off to the food hidey-hole and a little cake for breakfast!

I just wanted to say "thanks" to all of you. As you can see, I've been a member of this site for a few years. I originally signed up so I could access the newswire and have enjoyed it. Just relatively recently I started browsing the forums and am mad at myself for not looking sooner! I am continually impressed with the depth and breadth of knowledge shown by the members. Thank you all for such a wonderful resource. [bow]

Good morning to you all,

Glad to see we made 10,000 posts. Sorry I missed out on the celebration...will make every attempt to be around for 20,000! [;)]

Meanwhile, have a bit of a busy workweek here so that I can get ready to be on Wednesday to board #6, the Eastbound (got my directions correct this time...I think[:P]) California Zephyr. Willy and Carl, I'll be getting ahold of you guys here to work out details and such.

Hope you all have a great week!

Looking forward to your visit, Chris--I hope our weather moderates a little (cold and wet for most of this week--and "wet" could also be "white" at times).

I think the next party will be held at 25,000 posts, that is, IF the Diner and we are all still here. That will be probally about 2 years (or more) in the future and a lot of things can happen between now and then. BUT we can still have parties for birthdays or in Walt's case bathdays [;)] [:p] [}:)] [:)] [:D] or other special occasions as we desire. I bet this year's New Years Eve bash will be spectular. [:D] I guess we better start stocking up on the non-alocoholic sparking punch. [:p] [:D] You know how hard it is to buy N Y E items at the last minute. And I guess we better start planning the Christmas Eve party also. We just have to guard the egg nogg to make sure no one spikes it. THAT WILL NOT HAPPEN. Aww yes, now we have to get some chesnuts and bring on the Bing Crosby music. I just love Christmas and I know the real reason for the season. (Wal Mart isn't it either.)

Now that I finished cleaning up all the crew packs and cat nip cans, I need some coffee, it's 12:49 here at school and I'm still barely awake, I fell asleep on the couch, got up to go to bed...and then I didn't sleep...way to go Zach...

Well, I've got the first batch of beef stew and cornbread ready for those of you
who will be going home to a computerless house, so you can take your supper
with you (Mookie, don't forget to pick up yours and Driver's on your way home).

And the second batch of beef stew w/cornbread should be ready for consumption
about 5:30, 6:00.

Supper is now ready. That beef stew is sure going to taste very good and warm us
up after the rain we've had all afternoon. Even have a chance for some nasty stuff
later on tonight, after about 10 p.m., I believe, is what I heard.

Just got in from the field, CopCarSS needs to "get thee out of Dodge" a bit quicker. Got any hot cider in here? (Cat finished off the hot chocolate again, I see!)...

At 3 Pm we were surveying high on a hillside rock quarry high above Morrison, CO west of Denver with blue skies. At 4 pm, went from zero to awful on the misery scale. Temperature drops 30 degrees, wind goes from calm to 60 MPH (chinooks), cornsnow blowing sideways (ouch!) and blue light from lightning bolts in the low boiling clouds (with fog drifting up from the reservoir below, warmer than the outside air and dust boiling off the sandpiles). Time to get off the hill, quickly......Winter has returned to Denver.

Mudchicken, I've just made some more hot chocolate, and I've also got some
nice, hot cider ready, also. So drink up, to your heart's content. Maybe
that'll warm you and your feathers up!!

We had some snow here this afternoon- enough to coat parked cars with a nice thin white coating. Ground's too warm for it to accumulate there, though. Tomorrow night might be a different story. Winter Storm Watch northwest of here.

My 1st and only visit to the Coffee Shop.

Well Jim wanted me to stop by the Diner here before I "leave town" again. Breakfast 24hrs/day? I'll have waffles and 2 eggs sunny side up. I'll need a pound of coffee and a pound of sugar before I hit the trail.

Jukebox could stand a little music. All the songs are a nickel right?

Here's an appropriate song:

"Sittin' in an all nite cafe
At a booth back in the corner
Makin' paper wads from napkins
Throwin' toothpicks on the floor
I got a problem I can't solve
So I'm gonna sit here til I figure out
The reason why my baby
Dudn't love me anymore
Well it can't be another woman
Cause I've never looked at anyone
As long as I've been knowin her
And that's a long long time
I've had so many cups of coffee
Bethcha that I get an ulcer
Sittin' in this all nite cafe
With my baby on my mind"
-Warner Mack

And I can't leave before playin at least one Johnny Cash song:
"I hear the train a comin'
It's rollin round the bend
And I ain't seen the sunshine since
I don't know when
I'm stuck in Folsom Prison
And time keeps draggin' on
And that tain keeps a rollin'
On down to San Antone..."

See you all next spring...

Ironhorse, good luck on your travels, and maybe you'll be able to drop by maybe
once or twice before spring. But if not, take care of yourself.

It is POURING RAIN here this morning!! Maybe I'll be lucky, and no one will
come out in this downpour for Produce this morning. (Yeah, right: in my dreams!!)
Some parts of our local area have already gotten six inches of rain overnight. Several
streets, and one interstate have lanes closed due to flood waters. Looks like it's
going to be a very bad day.

Breakfast this morning: since I've got Produce duty this morning, breakfast is
something really, really simple: doughnuts: chocolate coved, chocolate, yeast,
cake, cream filled, custard filled, fruit filled. Whatever you prefer in doughnuts,
I believe I have them this morning.

Everyone take care, try to stay as warm and dry as possible, and I'll see you all
later.

A donut and sweet dreams of this coming Sunday! I will be sitting across from a plate of clean rice and wet chicken! (This is a little different from dirty rice and chicken)

I am so excited!

It rained during the night and now is snowing. It is a wet snow that melts when it hits the ground - except on the cold cars.

Time for my [soapbox] - where was this moisture when we had nice warm days and could have used it to water parched lawns!

Ok - small [soapbox]

Alas, winter is threatening here as well. Counties north and east have a winter weather advisory, but it's just raining here. LM and CW may be under the gun this morning - weather gurus were highlighting that general area for more of this unseasonable severe weather we've been getting lately.

@ sounds good, but management frowns....

I see in the news wire that my visit to Tacoma has been preceded by the arrival of Reading 2100. Maybe I'll get to spot her in my travels.

And tip top of the morning to you all...

Changed the profile signature. Another old shot from the Yellowstone/Tetons trip of 2004. I do have some new stuff, just haven't had any time for post-processing work. Perhaps on this trip I'll have some play time.

Man alive, MC wasn't just kidding about the weather. Certainly one of those days when I was awfully glad that I wasn't driving west of town. Watched the thermometer in the truck drop 14 degrees in about 5 minutes! I was so lucky, too. Had a meeting down in the Tech Center at 4:00 PM (who schedules meetings at 4?!?!?!?). Had the distinct pleasure of driving I-25 from Dry Creek to the Mousetrap during rush hour with snow coming down at a good clip, and blown around by some fair to meddlin' winds. I cannot tell you how elated I was.

To all the midwesterners...I will do my best not to bring this with me when I depart tomorrow, but can't guarantee. I have a bad habit of taking things east with me when I go home.

Oh well, hope you all have a great day!
