Jim,The meatloaf here is the best anywhere, along with the
potatoes;but I'm afraid you'll have to settle for something else
to drink besides the Sam Adams.......owner says no alcohol.

Besides the advice that CSXrules4eva gave you;here is another
GOOD ONE to remember : DO NOT MIFF THE CAT !!

CW, how about a couple of slices of pepperoni and a root beer float to drown my sorrows? My local high school, which my mom, my siblings, my niece, my nephew, my daughter and I attended/are attending, made it to the state finals for football for the first time since 1968. They lost by two points after a field goal in the last 15 seconds by the other team. At least it wasn't a blowout. I had to work so I listened to the game on the radio and got pretty steamed at the announcers. Two plays before the field goal, my team was penalized for pass interference. In the pros it would have been waved off as an uncatchable pass but in high school Federation rules it was a valid call as a penalty. I spent nine seasons as a Federation official so I knew the difference. I was screaming at the radio for the announcers to stop calling it a blown call. It was a tough break but the right call. Sorry to turn this into an off-topic rant[soapbox] but the radio station had no one answering their phone today.[:(!]
I'm still sticking around for this party! 13 to go!

Had some yard work to do today, so headed for the home supply store for some mulch. Got the mulch down, but a lot later than planned. As I was on my way home one of our local fire departments was dispatched for a broken gas line. At the mall. Had the potential so I turned around.

The entire mall was evacuated, probably 1000+ cars, through two exits. I spent an hour or better directing traffic, keeping people from going in and helping move people out. Most people were like "The Mall is CLOSED?!?" A few had valid concerns - they had dropped a kid or an employee off at the mall and now I wasn't letting them in to find them (the road I was working was downwind and had a smell of gas). Shortly after the last car left the parking lots, they got things fixed and reopened the mall.....

Then on the way home, I encountered an accident... Some days.

I thought we'd be over 10K by now, for sure! I'm looking forward to steak for dinner tomorrow--hope I'm not disappointed.

Sarah, we picked up another seven bags of leaves this past week--and with today's wind and rain it doesn't look like we did anything. We still have one maple in the back yard with green leaves mostly up on the tree--and our backyard neighbor's tulip tree will wait until everything else is raked up before dropping those huge leaves. I'm just glad I don't have a pond to contend with!

...Overnight wind and rain here for us....not bad this morning and rain is past over in Ohio now.....But leaves....!!! Neighbors trees put them down too and some are Tulip Trees also...Hence our street is named for them. So it's more leaves to clean up {from western neighbor's}...as ours are all evergreen...no leaves, none....On purpose.
56 degrees here this morning....Not bad for mid November. Have brand new temp. instrument {wireless}, that tells me outside temp too...Great. Believe rain is finished for now....

8 TO GO!

We're in the final countdown- hopefully I'll be here to see it, but church beckons, and if I don't get blown away trying to get there and back, I'll check in later. Happy Sunday, everyone.

Joe, that's o.k.: Sunflower deserves a day off!! We'll just use our dog, Winter;
and Jim's dog, Duchess!!

Brian, I agree wholeheartedly with you: let's let our illustrious Diner owner,
Jim, be the 10,000th poster!! And if not him, maybe Nance69 and Bob can
come into the Diner.

Congratulations to everyone, past and present, who's contributed to this entertaining and informative thread. I daresay I've gotten to know quite a few people better because of it. And some of the food suggestions have led to a need to exercise!

(The steak with the trimmings was great! I had to sample all of the cakes, though--couldn't reject any of them.)

In other news, I have been instructed to drive to work again today, due to strong winds. Probably a good idea, though I'm very frustrated, with only about 80 miles to go to reach my bicycling goal. And this would have been the best piece of tail(wind) I'd have had since my birthday!

All right!! Looks like we made it!!!! Got Jim's horsey-durves ready for
everyone who isn't quite hungry for a meal yet. We have:
sausage balls, ham or turkey on Ritz, Club or Trisket crackers, chicken-
in-a-basket for mudchicken, Jiffy Pop popcorn (especially for Jim), and
whatever else you want to snack on.

The only problem with that is, you'd have to do a one-way trip, and hitch a motorized ride back home!

As the party continues let me take a time out to say this:

As we celebrate this special occasion (10,000 posts) let me plead for your support of Amtrak. Our current administration is doing everything possible to kill it. We MUST stop this dastardly attack. HOW? Call, email, or write your congressional people NOW, and voice your concern over this administration's actions, and voice your support of Amtrak. Please do it as soon as possible and let the government know you support Amtrak. It is time to rebuild Amtrak not kill it. This administration chooses to fund trains in Iraq and not in America. PLEASE support Amtrak now while we CAN. It is NOW or NEVER for Amtrak.

I think I'll be eating some of that White Cake w/ White Icing now!! CW, I'm glad you made more than one!! I think I'll also have some steak, wl mushrooms, and taters please. I have to make sure I don't fill up too much because I need to eat some more cake!!!

Carl, your are absolutly right about the pond and leaves, the two don't mix espeacilly when you have to clean all those leaves out the pond, then clean the filters. That's for the birds!!!!!! But, I do it anyway.

Okay now, folks: we can't let this celebration die down. Get your toes tapping
to the music playing (good ole classic rock and roll from the 50s & 60s), or
get yourselves on the floor and start dancing away!! The more dancing you
do, the more calories you'll burn, and can eat up all this food I've prepared for
this party!! And don't worry that Mookie will miss out on any of the food: I've
prepared plates for her for tomorrow, along with the others who aren't here on
the weekends!!

IT'S PARTY TIME!!!!
