Walt happy [bday] I hope CW made that chocholate cake extra special for you today!! I'm sure she did. God Bless.[:D]

CW I'm ready for those taters and pork now. I don't think I should fill up on that though because, I want some of that cake too!!

Weather here in PA is unseaonably warm, I can't believe it, I'm not complaining though! I'm begining to wonder if we're going to get any snow at all this year or is it going to be what Iike to call "cheap o' snow" it's snow that doesn't stick to the ground. I might have to go up to the mountains to get some snow this year. Ut Oh.

Yes, we're under a T-storm watch; counties to the south of us have a tornado watch until 0100 tomorrow morning. But I understand it's all supposed to clear out by daytime tomorrow--good news, since I have to go to the yard and don't have the car available. Less than 150 miles to bike before I reach my goal for the year!

Doesn't look like it's going to snow here anytime soon--maybe I can arrange for the powers that be to ship it over to Sarah when it arrives.

I passed all subjects and have completed mid-term. Also some more good news. I got a call from Queens Park (Ontario equivalent to State Senate) saying that my Member of Provincial Parliment has excepted my resume and now I work for him on Monday spares and Friday spares.

I am currently getting my resume ready to apply for store security. I will apply to 3 department stores (Sears, Zellars, Bay) but also thinking in applying at a Wal-Mart too.

Need money...........

No frantic calls for the fire extinguisher, so 'Mutts cake didn't cause any damage (tasted good, too!).

Judging by the radar as I write this, that brilliant red sunrise this morning was definitely a portent of weather to come. Showing some snow preceding some rain, and the temps are just below freezing, so this could be a good day to stay off the road.

Time to do some of that stuff my employer pays me to do....

Wow Tree - I want your job - get paid to watch the weather! [:-,]

I wouldn't have a job like police or fire that made me get out on the ice and in the snow!

I have never figured out how police/fire can go to a 10 car pileup and never slide right into the middle of it!

Don't get paid to watch the weather, but that's another story (it is another hobby of mine, though).

Story time:
Some years ago, a village patrol car was dispatched to the scene of a vehicle that had slid off the road. The subject vehicle had turned off a main road onto a side road with a substantial hill involved (and a small river at the bottom). The responding patrol car arrived on the scene, and upon cresting the hill, promptly slid down also. A second patrol car, responding to a call for assistance from the first, apparently didn't get word about the extremely slippery conditions on the hill - and slid down also, right into the first patrol car. Fortunately, no one was injured... (and no, I wasn't involved)

Not too long ago, a fire department in my area (not mine) rolled their rescue vehicle on its side in the median of the interstate under slippery conditions. Usually we approach scenes pretty carefully (after all, we know they are there, something the motorists didn't know), but sometimes the conditions get the better of us... And I've been at more than a few scenes where I cold hardly keep my feet under me (and occasionally don't).

10,000 - 9907 = 93

Hey, we are on the downhill now. [:D] [:D] [:D]

Does anyone know why it was so WARM last night. I think we had a strong wind from the east. There must have been a large amount of heat that found its way into the air and came west. You know I think maybe a certain birthday cake might have had something to do with it. [:D] [;)] [:p]

Now, all joking aside, it is time to email a few congresspeople and voice a fearful concern about the firing of Mr. Gunn. This firing is an outrage and just another attempt to rid us of Amtrak. Mr. Gunn was doing one heck of a job, too good for the current administration.

You know if we could remove people from Federal office like California can remove governors I think certain people in bathrow DC would be put out on their keister.

Next subject--adjusting to 3rd shift--well having some gains and some losses their. I had to get some coffee last night as I was operating on only 4 hours of sleep. So far today, I slept about 2 1/2 hours. So after the noon news it is back to bed for hopefully more sleep.

Now it is time to look up my elected officials numbers or email addresses and start voicing some opinions.

Edit

I have emailed 2 of my congresspeople. I have received an automatic reply from one already.

I STRONGLY suggest that if you support Amtrak that you email your elected officials TODAY.

Mineta has used false figures and out and out lies to condemn Amtrak. Seems like he got his "style" from higher up. Mineta should be fired and the whole Amtrak board dismissed. By the way, Mineta sits on the Amtrak board.

Is everyone enjoying their lunch today? Hope so.

Now, for supper tonight, there will be: spaghetti & meatballs,
garden salad, and Texas Garlic toast.

Dessert: plenty of Mutt's chocolate birthday cake left, so take a
guess at what dessert will be. Have vanilla ice cream to go along
with it.

One of my unusual claims to fame...

I lost my footing once, on icy sidewalks at the college I was attending. I was working in my capacity as a stringer for my hometown newspaper. What was unusual is that I was the photographer on this assignment (and, as I've said here, I don't take pictures). They had to send a "real" reporter because of the importance of the story.

I think the "eternal flame" they lit that day lasted a couple of years.

But we were headed out to where this flame was to be lit, on a very blustery, icy day. I had my camera gear and some textbooks with me, and my feet went out from under me, just like that.

But I never hit the ground--someone behind me grabbed me by the armpits, stood me up and kept me steady for about three seconds, asking if I was all right. I was, I guess.

The quick-acting person behind me turned out to be the main speaker at the event: House Majority Leader--and future President--Gerald Ford.

Cher, I would have preferred your lunch to the pizza they had at the meeting this noon!

We had the strong wind today, but our weather restricted itself to the nighttime hours, thankfully. I was able to bike to my meeting today (and to the dentist yesterday). Less than 150 miles to go to make my goal for the year! I could do it in two weeks if the weather would hold--but what are the chances of that happening?

Good morning, everyone! Wow, what a night we had. I was on the computer,
around 10:30, and low and behold, our power goes out!! Mutt and I were in
the dark for about 1 1/2 hours. Don't know what happened, but all along our
street, all lights were out, even the traffic lights.

Joe, thank you for getting the coffee and juice ready this morning. Very glad
to hear, Joe, that the sapling didn't fall on your house!

Breakfast: turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs, oatmeal,
toast.

As soon as I get my eyes really open, I'll decide on the lunch menu for today.
Just now working on my first cup of coffee.

...A brisk windy day {yesterday}, here in Muncie but no problems...Actually a pretty nice day and then a bit cooler late afternoon. Did mowing and mulching leaves...a big problem with western neighbor's trees.....Mine are all evergreens. Sun shining brightly here this morning but only in high 40's for today. Still so far...a great November. Wind gusts yesterday up to 40ish Mph....

And a cold wind at that;when that "front" came through, the
temps went from the 70s,to the 40s,in just a very few minutes.[:O]

Quinten,if you want to do some more raking and mulching,we could
use you here,as the big Oak tree in the back is definitly 'shedding' its
leaves. And if you know anybody that's into collecting pine cones,I
think that we have a "Bumper Crop" of them this year.

Good morning. Windy yesterday, calm and somewhat cooler temperatures today. All the trees in our yard have completed their shedding and today is the final fall clean-up. Just in time. I am off to DC on the Capital Limited tomorrow. Won't be there long enough to get that place straightened out, but I am hoping that the trip won't be my last by train.

Keep a light in the window, I'll be back early next week.
