Here I am sorry I just got home from work a liitle while ago and this is the 1st time today I have been able to really sit down and get over to the diner but anywho is there any sauasage left If so I'll take um 8 pieces cause. I'm really hungry tonight but anyway that's about it I'll be going now so have a good night and I will be talkin to you all later. Pat, hope you enjoyed your sausage pizza.

Have plenty of pizza left; so, anyone who comes in the Diner, from now
until I post breakfast in the morning, can warm some pizza in the
microwave. Or eat it cold.

mmmm - cold pizza - breakfast of choice! Well, for one of us. The other is a finicky eater. Wants real food, very hot or very cold and only once. No leftovers. So I never have to worry about lunches for the next day.

Caulk is sitting on the bathtub, waiting for a "dry" time. Some cracks you just want to watch and not caulk. [:I]

I was a very helpful assistant last nite. I sat on a chair and watched the plumbing job and after supper the landlord mowed and I sat on the porch and assisted again.

Imagine 11-3 and sitting on the porch - in my stocking feet! Years ago, I would have had to put on boots, coat, scarf etc. Mowing was done in a t-shirt! Ah - life is good!

It's hot in here - going out to hammock where weather is always nice....

Good Friday morning, everbody! Here in Louisville, we have a nice temp
in the mid to upper 60s, this morning.

Breakfast this morning: the usual fare of turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits
& gravy, fried taters or hash browns, scrambled eggs, and for those who
don't want any of that, we also have doughnuts: plain, chocolate covered
with cream or vanilla filling, and jelly filled doughnuts.

Hope all have a great day today, and Mookie, what would you like for
lunch today?

Let's see - lunch....it's not too cold yet, so how about a big [C=:-)] salad, or taco salad and a side of fresh baked parker house rolls or croissants. Maybe a salad with tuna for those that still like fish on Friday. Probably need to have extra ranch dressing along with the rest. 6:40 am and I am already looking forward to lunch! Imagine that!

Well, it's not T-Shirt weather, but we did get up to a very windy 60 yesterday. I didn't hear anything about records, but Mookie is right - sure is nice for early November, especially here in the north country.

Taco salad sounds good - another dish I love to create! I'll get right to work on it!

The Parker House rolls reminds me of a specialty of my old high school cafeteria (back when they made the meals from scratch) - fresh yeast rolls, baked daily. Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my chin...[dinner]

Oh Larry - you bring back good memories. We had some good and bad, but overall, most of the cafeteria food was pretty good. But that was pre-tv dinners and no time to cook. Now you can only get that type of food in the diner!

Weather is "nuts" these days. Into the 80s for highs during NOVEMBER [:0] , something is a little off if you know what I mean. [8] But at least the furnance is not on yet. [;)] A penny saved is a penny earned, but these days a dollar not spent on home heating can be used to pay another bill. (Wonder if we will ever see that adage in a book anytime soon? hahaha [:D]

I was an extremely picky eater back when I was a kid, so I don't have any memories of how our school cafeteria was taste-wise. I always packed my lunch. I've since gotten beyond my aversion to trying new foods, and now I'll eat almost anything (with some exceptions).

EDIT: Hey, I got the first post on a new page again! Hope this bodes well for the 10,000th post competition...

Nor does the staff at our local school these days (I don't live where I graduated). You also have to factor in the nearly 40 years since I graduated from HS... As Madame La Mook pointed out, TV dinners weren't mainstream yet, and the idea of heating up something from the freezer (which is about all they do now) was as foreign to them as scratch cooked meals are to most cafeteria staffers today. No pizza. No "ribbies." Real mashed potatoes. Thanksgiving week was great.

My late grandmother worked in a school cafeteria when I was young. She had recipes - "Serves 200."

In addition to the regular cafeteria line (40 cents), our high school cafeteria had an "a la carte" line, which is where we'd get those delightful rolls. We'll have to put our new baker to work!

Our school lunches weren't that bad.

I don't think I've had an honest-to-Goodness Parker House roll in a long time. Used to love 'em. Then someone told a joke about them and I haven't been able to look at one without cracking up.

Salad always sounds good--chunks of tuna in mine, please!

Went to work in short sleeves yesterday. Sleeves a little longer today (cooler night ahead), but still don't plan on wearing a jacket. Big change comes tomorrow.

If they move the intermodal containers out of my way, I might get to see the last three CNW units leave for the Twin Cities again (after dark, unfortunately--and the won't be using the dynamics at this point, so no glow).

How's that for tying together a few threads?

Larry, thank you so much for doing the taco salad. That does sound soooo
goooood!! And Carl, I've got a tuna salad made up with plenty chunks
of tuna in it!!

Larry, do you have enough of that taco salad for supper tonight? If not,
how about we have a fish fry tonight, since it's such a nice sunshiny, warm
day. We could even eat our fish, fries, etc. out on the patio tonight.

I think there's a little taco salad left. Folks can certainly have it on the side, with their fish.

I'll be munching tonight (not a good thing) - working at the local PBS station's Art Auction, running camera, raiding the hors d'oeuvres on break. They have some good stuff (even train art, sometimes!), although a lot of it is way outside my budget. I do have a few artist's proofs, though, and I've met a lot of the artists who contribute. The station is aired in the Ottawa, ON area, too, so we get a lot of Canadian interest, eh? http://www.wpbs.org

fish fry sounds great for tonight.finished raking some leaves and checking the downspouts before the rain.there is one tree thats has about half of its leaves left.hopefully they will come down this weekend.

Day five of Septa strike, well everything is still the same in terms of the strike, people are complaining, and confused.

The weather was really nice here today. It went up to 70 something degrees here! It's suposed to be like this for the rest of the weekend.

by now,but I KNOW that there is plenty of "fixins" for
sandwiches in the cooler;so until she gets back from "errands"

Well, hello everyone!! Been busy all day, getting errands done. Have only
been home for about 1/2 hour. It's good to know that I can be away for a
bit, and see that you all keep everything cleaned up!! Mutt, you did a great
job keeping everything going smoothly in here, while I was out. Thank you,

Supper tonight: an Italian hamburger casserole called "Tomato Basil Penne."
I'll have it ready about 6:30, EST.

We have a chance of rain here late night in Louisville. Possibly a little bit
of rain Sunday morning. Right now, our streets are dry. Hope everyone

Currently have some corn popping on the stove, so if anyone wants some
popcorn, come on in to the Diner, and we'll fix you up a big bowl, and
whatever soft drink/pop/soda you want with your popcorn.
