I plan to bake bread later this week, and I wi***hat I could bottle up the aroma of freshly baked bread and send it out to everyone with this post. Anyone who comes knocking at my front door would be able to smell it before entering my house. I will be sending a couple loaves of my cinnamon bread to the Depot Diner & Coffee Shop early tomorrow morning![C=:-)]

[oX)]Happy Halloween Everyone! Finally figured out a use for the Pirate smiley! I'm so proud of myself!

Hope you all had a great weekend. Sort of a gray rainy affair in Denver, with occasional bits of sunshine mixed in. Got a couple shots around town, but nothing that I'm overly proud of. [sigh]...wasn't it Ansel Adams that said if he got 12 good shots a year he was happy? How I wi***hat I could make 1/4 of that!

Brian, sorry to hear about your mother-in-law. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Well...another bad week in football, at least for my Pack. All these close games are starting to get to me. It would be one thing to be a blow-out every game, but I think that the nail-biters are 10 times worse. Especially when Brett throws 5 picks, and they still only lose by a TD.

At least my No. 2 team looked pretty good. The Broncs sure worked the Eagles, didn't they? Sorry, Sarah. The beginning of the second half was a little worrying. Thankfully, the rookie Cornerback that Aikman was content to rag on stepped up and made a huge play that turned everything around.

I don't care what all the announcers say. Champ Bailey is a mediocre Corner at best (and a lousy trade, too, IMHO), and Darrent Williams and Dominique Foxworth have a ton of skills. Sure they're rookies, but I honestly believe that they're playing pretty decent football. Way better than Bailey and Walls, if you ask me (of course neither Shanahan nor the announcers ever ask me what I think...so I guess it's all moot).

Oh well...guess I've rambled enough. Hope you all have a great Halloween, and don't end up with a Trick-or-Treat bag full of rocks, like Charlie Brown!

Returned from Cincy late last night. Big part of the trip was to baby sit so stepson Russ and his wife Amy could go to the Packers-Bengals game. A life long Packer backer, Russ was not too disappointed in the game. Af course they were getting friendly gaff from those seated around, but Amy was happy to point out that the Bengals managed to only turn one interception into a score. "Call that an offense???"

Weather was sunny and very nice for the end of October, the kids had a great time, and were happy to have the oppurtunity to see Brett live in action. Too bad his best receivers were not in the game.

On the good news side, our High School soccer teams won their game Saturday and are in the final four for the Division 2 tournement at "State" next weekend. Trains will not be on the agenda next weekend.

Have a good day.

Another quilt show at the Elmhurst Museum; wife would like to go.

I found a little window in the museum, where the quilts are displayed--if I lif the shade a little bit, it affords me a very usable view of the tracks.

"Yes, of course I'll take you there. When?"

Afternoon everyone. Lunch is now being served: got turkey sandwiches made
up, and if you want, you can have some potato salad and green beans with your
sandwich.

Canadianpacific, you can bring in all the baked goods you want!! They'll be
greatly appreciated. (And do you ever make any raisin bread w/white icing
on the top of the loaves?)

And since it's Trick or Treat time tonight, supper will be ready to eat at 5:30, so
you parents can get your little ones into their costumes to go out getting more
candy!!

Mookie, did you find your stash of Halloween candy I set aside for you (with your
name on the baggie?

I've never made raisin bread before, but something like that should not be difficult for me to produce. When I make my cinnamon rolls they get glazed with a creamy frosting that I make using powdered sugar, a little bit of milk, butter and vanilla. I could proabably use the same glasing with raisin bread.[C=:-)]

I will be filling an order for a dozen chocolate chip cookes for Sarah in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania later this week. Once I've received her payment it will be an obligation that I will faithfully honor and meet. If any of you folks out there would like my recipe for chocolate chip cookies, I just might eventually post it.[C=:-)]

Well, I'm just siting here giving out candy to all the little ones that come by and some not so little ones. lol I was suposed to get on the train today and head into town but, that got runiened as soon as SEPTA when on stirke, eairly in the morrning. Out of all the days why does SEPTA decide to go on stirke the day I want to go downtown?? NOT FAIR!! So, I decided to put on my costume, and give out some candy. I scared some people last year with this costume when I wasn't looking to scare them. I guess I'm just a scary person sometimes.

CW can I have a chessburger please?? I just want one, I think I'm going to fill up on candy tonight!

Chad, whatever happened to your 8 star status? I'm shocked that you would lower yourself to such pedestrian ranking! [;)][(-D] Seriously, though, I'll buy you a tub of popcorn on the next thread we find worthy of the machine!

Quentin, thanks as always for the kind words. [:I] I shot that one last year up at Yellowstone. It was kind of a grab shot very early in the morning. I actually set up the tripod in the middle of the road. Guess there aren't too many National Park Goers at 4:45 AM! At the time, I didn't think too much about it, buit afterwards, while reviewing the trip at home on my computer, that one became one of my favorites of the trip. I just love that beautiful blue pre-sunrise sky, and the haunting (hence the use in my signature line today) look of the silhouetted trees.

Well, I guess I must be on my way. Headed to celebrate Halloween by watching Monday Night Football at my favorite Sports Bar/Grill. [(-D] Hope you all have a great All Hallows Eve. Catch you on the flip side!

Yeah Chad, I know what ya mean by San Diego being a long way from South Dakota. I had been to San Diego once in 1977. I have an aunt and uncle who live up in Apple Valley, near Victorville. They are not far from Barstow, which I think in the mid 70's would have been a good place to watch trains on both the SP and the Santa Fe. Although I don't know for certain if both roads ran through Barstow.

...Halloween trick or treaters are finished in our neighborhood.....and it was quiet here. Just finished the TV program Dream House...and what a house and location this present program is showing....Out west up on a steep hillside and does that bring production problems....And yes, Chris...that is a special shot....It all fits together well....

Sarah's cheeseburger sounds good--maybe I can get one tomorrow (it's a little late tonight).

Trip to Elmhurst, mentioned in my previous post, will be tomorrow afternoon. We'll stop at the sandwich place, take them trackside, then visit the museum.

Good Tuesday morning everyone! We don't have any trick or treaters on our
street anymore. They've all grown up, and moved away; and the actual apart-
ment houses around the neighborhood are empty these days. So don't get
any kids coming around anymore. Kind of miss seeing the costumes on the
little ones.

Coffee, and juice are ready.

Breakfast today is set out on the breakfast bar: turkey bacon, sausage,
biscuits & gravy, oatmeal, toast, french toast, scrambled eggs, fried taters.

Lunch today: burgers & cheeseburgers w/sauteed onions and fries. Have
to make sure we always have fries for Matt!! And, of course, for dessert, there's
leftover Halloween candy. All kinds of chocolate candy, including Tootsie Roll
Pops.

Good thing I only got a little candy for the little beggars - Like Madame La Mook I only had around 20-25. Seems like we used to see more. At least I got something I like.

We ran out last night- went through four bags of the bite-size bars. Seems we have more young families moving into the neighborhood lately, plus alot of the older kids aren't too ashamed to come around collecting candy, even though they don't have costumes on. I find it kinda annoying, but the wife doesn't mind. She says, "they're just having good clean fun- let 'em be kids again".
