Hey Mookie, I think I figured out what we need with your Halloween decorations
you put up: how about some Halloween music playing? Let's see, we can
listen to "Monster Mash", the themes from "The Addams Family" and "The
Munsters", and I know there's recordings of creepy, scarey sounds. Plus,
there's always my picture on my profile that will scare the daylights
out of anybody!!

Now, we'll get down to breakfast: breakfast will include this morning:
oatmeal or rice w/toast, turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy,
scrambled eggs, and of course, the fries for Matt. Can't have a meal
without fries for the Mattster, now, can we?? Just wouldn't be fair.

Lunch specials today: tuna melt, ham & cheese melt, and for anyone
who needs to be warmed up, chilli.

Mookie, need a couple of ideas for supper tonight. Do you have any?!?!

supper....how about steaks on the grill? Steaks, chicken and hot dogs for wee people.

Macaroni, potato and tossed salads.

CW's usual good desserts - and..........ta da......... a toothpick!

Possibly one of the last grills of the season?

(Jay - bring the chocolate!)

Speaking of chickens......?

That steak sounds good.

I like to bake tollhouse cookies using half regular chocolate chips and half mint chocolate chips. Not only delicious, but delightfully refreshing.

When I was a young teen I had a little reel-to-reel tape recorder that I figured out how to use as a small PA amplifier. At Halloween I put together a scarecrow with a plastic pumpkin for a head. I installed a speaker in the head, put a trick or treat bag in his "hand" and hooked the speaker up to the tape recorder/amplifier. I could see the front of the house (and therefore the scarecrow), so could talk to the trick-or-treaters. I managed to talk some of them out some candy....[}:)]

Your wish is my command, Mookie!! We'll fire up the grill tonight, and have
steaks, baked potatoes, grilled chicken, hot dogs, burgers, brats, and for
dessert, chocolate cake. (Just in case Jay forgets to bring chocolate!)

This Halloween, I am going to honor the memory of my father (who passed away last Thanksgiving Day from leukemia) by doing what he always wanted to do but was denied by my mother. He wanted to greet trick-or-treaters at the door with a gallon of ice cream and a scoop and watch their faces. First the look of delight ("OOOH, ice cream!") then the look of "Hey, that's going to melt all over everything in my bag."

He was never malicious, but always mischievious.

trainutz-that's cool. I wouldn't do that with the little ones, but it might be fun to try on the high school kids that come around here.

Lots to do today. Off to Evanston to hear a presentation on the subject of scheduling track maintenance on higher volume rail lines, high school soccer game this evening, followed by a meeting with a trucker on the subject income taxes.

Coffee for now, I'll stop by for dinner to go this evening.

Good Morning All,

Well, if we are getting some Halloween music together, may I suggest some Bach organ pieces, particularly some pieces in minor keys? Tocatta and Fugue in D minor is always nice, Passacaglia and Fugue in C minor is delightfully mysterious, and I've always loved the Fugue in G minor.

Meanwhile, I will definately have to stop in this evening for some steak. Great idea Mookie!

Well, I must be about the days tasks. Hope you all have a great one!

Definitely not the little ones - they probably wouldn't realize what the ice cream would do (at least not in time for me to see their expression). I tend to confuse them by asking them for the trick. The parents usually get it.
"Trick or Treat!"
"I'll take the trick."

salad, cole slaw, baked beans, etc. for supper tonight. Believe I see Mutt

you can have your steak medium rare.

CW - any Cheesy Brats? I've become addicted to them [dinner] With some cole slaw and some of Sarahs's cider. Then we can polish off Matt's candy for dessert.. Joe , I wouldn't want him to get bad teeth. Mine are already shot, so think of it as "mercy eating"

CopCar I like your taste in music I think some Bach organ pices would be great for Holloween, amybe we can include some Handel organ peices as well. I would also say that we should include the last movement of Dvorak's Symphony # 9 but, it's not all that scary I just like it!!

RIRR80 today I brought six gallons of apple citer from a local farmer in Lancaster County. So, in light of this APPLE CITER ALL AROUND TONIGHT for those that want it. How bout them apples, huh?? lol

Carl I'm surprised you don't run the White Hen out of Diet Mountain Dew too, or do you run the supermarket out of that?? lol

CW I think I will take my stake medium rare please. Thanks!

After 0-0 through double overtime Delavan-Darien High School beat soccer rival Big Foot High School 3-2 in a shoot-out. Jake Godina is the hero of the game, taking the goal keeper position for the shoot-out and blocking three attempts by the opponents. DDHS advances to the round of eight and a victory Saturday will put them into the state championship series.

Who says interscholastic sports are any less exciting than the World Series.

The kids are my stepson's classmates and I have watched them play soccer and grow for ten years.

Sarah, I have run the Hen out of Diet Dew on occasion, but I'm pretty sure I had help doing that. Local grovery store knows better than to let the supply go down (OTOH, I've run our store out of caffeine-free Diet Pepsi several times. The Diner gets a supply of caffeine-free Diet Dew for me from Michigan, and the management there never runs out!

Chris, do you listen to WFMT when you're back "home"?

Portions of the third movement of Mahler 7 will definitely send eerie chills up and down your spine. The little viola solos there sound very spidery to me.
