Sounds like wishful thinking on JDV's part--having had a mother who was a teacher, I think I know what that's about!

I have a tough assignment--making an enjoyable day for a couple of diner patrons, in spite of the rough weather that's forecast for tomorrow--the real Wednesday. I will be eschewing (instead of just plain chewing) chicken for the day.

Too bad about the weather forecast--October 5 is usually the peak day for the fall "fire"--when the setting sun is reflected off the Sears Tower and surrounding buildings directly back to Tower A, where I can be distracted by it.

Good Wednesday morning everyone!! Our current temp here in Louisville
is 66 degrees, at 7 a.m. High today will be back in the mid to upper 80s, then
tomorrow, will be about 20 something degrees cooler. Sounds purfect for
doing fall cleaning upstairs.

Breakfast today: fixing you a special treat today; breakfast is a whole bunch of
half-moon fried apple pies. They're at least half as big as those little pies you
get at the grocery store. And each one is stuffed with apples.

If I may be so bold, may I inquire what else is in your collection, Mookie? You aren't stashing any old F-units or such around there, are you?
A Big Boy is on the wish list - a small SW10 that someone just walked away from and left the door open for me, and would LOVE a whistle from an old Burlington Route F Unit. That deep bellow was just too much! The back yard is getting a little crowded, but who needs grass? And Millie (our Buick "Century" - hence the name - Millenium/Millie) needs company in the garage - the neighbors don't use their side! [8D]

From the land of no weather - we almost got some weather. We had a downpour for 10 min this morning - the time between the back door and the car and from the car to the back door at work. That's it. Couple bolts of lightning, rumble or two - and moved on to Iowa. It was supposed to do this before midnite - it started at 5 am... Good timing Mr. Weatherman. Day late and several raindrops short. 54 and not rising right now - down from 75 at 3 am. They always get the temps and the wind right!

CW - if you don't quit fall cleaning, it will be winter and you will still be going. Cleaning isn't good for a body - unless it is fur cleaning. "It's a good thing"......thank you 'Mahtha'

Off to find the kibbles, mmmm chicken kibbles.....and a.......

In that case, if you all liked breakfast this morning, you're REALLY going
to like the dessert after you eat your lunch (beef stew):

Morning apparently came later than expected in Colorado, so this week's Forum Summit in Rochelle was cancelled. We'll have a smaller local gathering later in the afternoon/evening.

See no one has been in since lunch time. hmmm. Well, if no one comes in
for the beef stew for supper, guess I'll let Joe take it in to the guys and gals
when he goes to work tonight. Reckon Joe's fellow coworkers would
appreciate it.

CW I'll take some beef stew!!!! I could use some considering the fact that I need to go to the supermarket, and don't have too much food in the house. Maybe, I won't go to the supermarket because, I don't feel like going food shoping, so I'll just stop in here for some good wholesome food!!!!

Though we didn't get out to Rochelle as anticipated, we did get to meet Mr. and Mrs. Mudchicken this afternoon. A thoroughly enjoyable few hours.

I don't think I was able to show him much that he didn't already know. The reason they missed his plane was that he pulled an all-nighter getting his seminar course materials set up. Unfortunately, that was a necessity. Also, SJ, I have to say that he couldn't spare any feathers for me, considering that BH was padding the doghouse with them.

They may visit Rochelle on their way to central Wisconsin tomorrow. We won't be able to tag along, due to work and other commitments.

Evening/morning all.

Came in a little while ago, noticed a stack of dirty dishes and decided to do them quick while heating up what I found for dinner. I bused tables and was a dishwasher for a few years in high school, no big deal.

I've come to the conclusion that UPS likes to make their trailers very complicated, after putting in folding decking for the last three days. Even with sharp bits (and we had plenty of them), it still takes two guys about 45 minutes to drill for the brackets that go in, all going through an 1/8 inch steel plate. I'm just glad it's not stainless I'm drilling through.

CShaveRR, just tell the Mudchicken family not to look at the WSOR tracks they pass over unless they want to have a heart attack! Take it from someone who knew all about it!!

Timer just went off, I'm off to dinner, see everyone later.

Pat, [bday] today!! Hope it's a very nice day for you.

We'll have a "birthday breakfast for you: pancakes and sausages/turkey bacon
all around for everyone. (We'll pretend it's Saturday morning, instead of Thurs-
day morning. And Pat, come in this evening for your birthday cake.

Lunch today: leftover beef stew w/cornbread.

Dessert today: Since I don't know what flavor cake Pat likes, we'll have one
each of the following cakes: white w/white frosting; chocolate w/chocolate
frosting, and yellow w/half white/half chocolate frosting.

CW was in and gone already.

Since I have no clue what to do, I guess I will just sit here and look wise....[alien]

BC - so glad you got to visit with MC and Boss Hen. And just like with Tree, I am so jealous! [^]

Sarah - I will do the grocery shopping if you will clean house. I don't mind doing groceries and washing dishes. Laundry would be ok - if it weren't for lugging things up and down 2 flights of stairs.

Oh - I forgot - I am supposed to just sit and look wise - [alien]

You will notice the frosting on the cake has been "blessed" with a paw print...

Ok, so I re-read what I typed and only now realized that I thought Tuesday was Wednesday. Duh. The heat and the kids must be getting to me. Today, drastic cool down. We had our high temp at midnight and will fall from there. High of 55 or something like that tomorrow. I love fall.
That big breakfast sounds great. I'll take pancakes w/ sausage.

Joe - I can remember our anniversary date, but always have to ask the driver "how many years?"

And if I want a gift - I write it on the bathroom mirror - I don't wait for him to either hem-haw around about what I "might" want or possibly forget. I always go right for the throat - no, no - I mean - I just tell him right up front what to get me. Never disappointed, either!

But I am a cheap date and usually just a card is enough...

It's not that I don't remember the dates (OK, February gives me fits - my late father, my sister and my son all born in the second month), but that I forget to act on them....

Please don't tell my wife, but we have a small framed snap shot of us just as we were to leave town on our wedding day. The date is on the print. If that picture gets moved, I may be in deep trouble.

I argue that men are geneticly unable to remember important dates. If I need to get birth dates for my client's tax returns, the women will have them from memory 100% of the time. The best I can hope for from the guys is that they have a reference card in their wallet. If it is any consolation, we do remember our own birth date.

Which Pat has a birthday today?

My Pat's birthday is this coming Monday. In honor of her birthday, the Post office will suspend normal mail delivery, and kids will be let out of school all over the state, but I'll still have to work.

She's already gotten her present from me (a week early, but that's because I expected a bigger time lag between ordering and delivery).

Jay, the opposite holds true in our family.
