I'm back (did you all miss me?) When I asked Sarah to say hi for me, I was under a tree alongside the Musketawa Trail in Ravenna, Michigan, attempting to stay dry in a sudden downpour that occurred early on in my bike trip. Talking to Sarah made the sun come out--in more ways than one!

The Musketawa Trail is the former PRR line from Muskegon east toward Grand Rapids. I may have mentioned this before, but I've had the rare (at least among living railfans) privilege of having ridden trains over this line on more than one occasion--always in the cupola of a GTW caboose, and, unfortunately, always after dark.

Later that evening, I visited the great train-watching spot at the end of Judd Avenue, viewing CSX's diesel facility and the east end of Wyoming Yard. I read somewhere about how a picnic table had been placed here for railfans. Well, I got there, and it looked like a card table and a couple of folding chairs to me! However, said chairs were already occupied by fans. And in the first ten minutes of being there I saw two eastbound manifest freights (one CP, one CSX powered by a couple of BNSF SD70MACs) and a remote-controlled yard move headed by a former GE four-axle unit (CSXT 9241--now a radio receiver) and an MP15AC that was mislabelled as an MP15T on the side of the cab.

Wish me luck--tonight and tomorrow morning I have to fast, in preparation for a physical and discussion of a couple of chronic ailments.

I'll take a piece of pie. Greater's for the ala mode? Would go good with coffee, but that would keep me awake half the night.

By the way, we ought to set up a couple of banquet tables near the back wall so Mark can come in and spread out all his stuff. I figure about 12 feet of blank wall space might work for the post-it-notes reminders of all the things he has to try to get done over morning coffee. He probably could use somebody to around to yell at when things are so frustrating that some steam just has to be let off. We could rotate. It would be a good cause so, I'll volunteer first.

great idea. So. . . .that's what we'll have for breakfast. We get our fruit,
and we'll count the pie crust as toast: we'll pretend it's peach jam/jelly on toast
for breakfast. That will be the breakfast special this morning.

Wow yes today must be a slow day her in the diner. Whats going on?? Because, this morning in the heat of rush hour over here in Philly at around 7:30 there was vertually no one on the road??//////////////// that was very interesting. It took me about 10 and 3/4 mins to get to work, which normaily takes me 20 or 16 mins. I made great time and I also clocked on eairly since I was there eairly.

Today temp wise wasn't so bad it got up to about 80 something. Once again we're suposed to get some rain but, did that come about?????????? NO. At work today I got to go out on a road test in a Fire Truck. To those of you who know the greater Philly area it was Penn Wayne Valley Fire Dept. Ladder 21. That was pretty cool, I've never really been in one except to drive one around the parking lot and park it.

and salad. I'm going to ask if I could have some chesse on the salad please [:D]

Carl I didn't know I made the sun come out for you up there in Muskegon. I think it was because of the sun comming out in the great state of PA in which it was cloudy. Like I said yesterday it was because we both were on "regular time" lol.

After physical, was taken to Joe's Crab Shack by wife, daughter, and granddaughter. Ate well, but left some room for teh peach pie that CW promised to save me. I don't doubt her sincerity, but that was before everyone decided that it would make a good breakfast!

So--if another one has to be baked in time for supper, I'm here to help!

I broke down and agreed that we should go forward with the project to install a composit wood floor for our family room and kitchen. Timing is good, because a family friend has aggreed to do the instalation gratis-after Matt and I remove the old carpeting and, below that, the vinyl flooring. I don't know what hurts worse, the work or the $$$$'s. I am tempted to buy an Amtrak tickets for Mookie and driver to come over and lend a hand. Somehow I think it would take more than a free ride to talk them into it.

Wisconsin has become tornado alley this afternoon and evening. Very severe storm in Stoughton where Randy V. hangs out. We are fine in Delavan, but a lot of all around us. Hope Randy and everybody else here doesn't have to camp out at the DD&CS as a temporary shelter.

Heard a news highlight second-hand from the wife that there were 27 tornadoes in all between La Crosse and your neck of the woods today, and several deaths as well. Doesn't surprise me as hot and humid as we got this afternoon. I'll take a fudgcicle, thanks.

You're not kidding, Jay!!!

We saw the first one get itself rolling around 18:20 or so, during our first break at Stoughton Trailer. We stood around in awe watching it for a few minutes, untill we realized it was heading in our direction!!!! We made a bee line for the shelters at work, and stayed there for about a half hour. The north side of Stoughton got hit hard, took out a bunch of homes and US 51 was still closed on my drive home at two in the morning. The word going around work was that there was about eleven of them in all, and I39-90 was shut down for a time. I guess also, the warning sirens at work went off well before the civil sirens did.

Other than that little fiasco, I'm doing fine, still have a house to come home to, thanks for the offer. I'll just raid the fridge for a late night snack and talk to y'all later in the day, about noonish.

Good Friday morning, all! Jay, looks like your rain is headed our way.
You all know that the Diner/Coffee Shop is always open, so if anyone
needs shelter, come on in! I'll fix plenty of sandwiches, and hot meals
for everyone.

Breakfast this morning comes from our Ky. State Fair, that is going on
now. We'll have grilled hamburgers, and ribeye steak sandwiches.
Anybody want to come and go to the Fair with us?!?

Well, my last 1/2 day Friday for this year. School starts on Monday - so back to full days on Fridays (thank goodness)

Our public schuls in Nerth LitLel Roc [;)] [}:)] started today. [:)] You ought to have seen Wal Mart yesterday, it was a mad house. As normal Wal Mart only had a few checkers open and long, (long long very long) lines were the norm.

Where did the summer go? Now if only the 90 plus heat would leave too [:(!] I would be a happy camper.

I am on a BLT kick so bring them on. A large side of watermellon and fruit salad also sounds real good.

We got about half an inch of rain yesterday. Randy's system was supposed to come down and soak us last night, but went out to sea around Kenosha instead.

Today is supposed to be a steamer, though they lowered the expected high out of the 90s. I should be able to bike to work, but may need rescuing tonight.

My arthritis is really doing a number on me today! But I had Mutt make up a biiiig
batch of BLTs, and he put them in the cooler, along with watermelon and fruit
salad. Did someone throw away the note on the menu board?!?! Didn't
anyone look at the menu/memo board?

Glad our fellow Wisconsonites didn't get blown away!! At 7:30 here last night,
it looked like it was two a.m., it was so dark out. Had a couple of severe weather
watches & warnings, but we never saw anything last night. And this morning, it
looked like we were going to get some rain; but looks like it stayed north and east
of us[:(]

.........Friday and another hot one in Muncie....Was to get 93 but really don't yet know what it really did attain....I did another mowing and got plenty warm..{just sitting on the tractor}, and had to retreat as soon as finished to in here..{home office}, and get cooled down. Good hamburg with local home grown tomato and onions....Mmmmm good and ice cold coke plus fresh corn for lunch......Amost as good as lunch at the diner.

Supper tonight will be the usual fish fry and fries, with cole slaw. Also have
plenty of iced tea, lemonade, and fruit punch, along with the frozen popcicles.

Our current temp here in Louisville is 92[V] I am definitely awaiting
anxiously for cooler autumn-time temperatures! (Notice that I said "autumn"
temps, not winter temps)!
