The nice [?] part about earthquakes is that they come to you, so it's really easy to attend... We had one here (yep, in northern New York!) not so many years ago. Wasn't violent, but it woke me up![8D]

Was with a friend at our Sta 1.several years ago. We heard Co. Dispatch
mention something about an earthquake. We went to the radio, and asked
if she was joking, turns out we did suffer a minor one.(thank goodness,no injuries)
Okay, I guess you can attend, even if you don't buy tickets[:p][:D]

We'll miss you while you're gone from us. But hurry and get your licenses so that

I found out a little more about the earthquake...its epicenter was near Ottawa (about 90 miles distant via a lovely bike trail along the Illinois & Michigan Canal), and it was about a 4.5 on the Richter scale, at about 1:30 a.m. I should have felt it, but didn't. It apparently wasn't strong enough to affect our main line, which is about 20-30 miles north of there. Probably startled a few drivers along I-80, though!

Hey everybody: how about a very good crock pot di***oday at the diner?

It's called PORKCHOP ABRACADABRA. Brown the porkchops, put in the
crockpot and add Campbell's Cream of Chicken soup, or any cream
soup you want. Can also put salsa or whatever you like.

Jim would like this recipe!! Also will be serving Stove Top herbs and spices
dressing.

Hey CShaveRR, When was this earthquake? Were about the same distance from Ottawa, maybe alittle closer as I'm in central Wisconsin, and I hadn't heard about it if it was recent at all. Makes sense I don't know a thing about it, I was dead asleep at that time.

Noah-

the quake happened Monday at 1:11am. It registered a 4.1 on the Richter scale. I slept through it. The epicenter was about 71 miles WSW of Chicago. For the official report:

Thanks, Jim; I'll take that official report over the times and figures I was given at work. At that point I was probably still awake, but I didn't feel it (though it was apparently felt in Hinsdale, according to the report, and that's not far from here). It sounds like the epicenter was close to I-39, and almost due south of Rochelle.

Good Guess! A New England soup that I really do like - the cream soup - Called New England - the Boston kind is made with a tomato base. I think that is right.

You can make corn chowder, too - both are very good. I am sure someone from back east will clarify the chowder part.

OK - Miffed Mookie is a little happier today - going to watch trains for 3 days over long weekend. Off Sat, Sun and Mon - will have withdrawals with no forum, but will hopefully find lots of questions.

Let's see - Wed - let's have oooo - Blueberry pancakes/waffles.

Worked in a restaurant that made patty melts - (for Dave Down Under) - they are burger patty, swiss cheese, onion and grilled altogether on rye bread. (they grill the burger first to get it done)

They are good, but have a tendency to be just a tad dry - so if you dip it in blueberry syrup - it makes a great sandwich. Just a little - don't overdo!

Don't want syrup in your whiskers...

There once was a man from the city
Who met what he thought was a kitty
He gave it a pat,
And said, "Nice little cat!"
And then buried his clothes out of pity.

That's good, but I think even a cityboy will know the difference between a cat and a skunk.

When the old engineer was a kid - he put a skunk in the milk pail on his grandpa's farm. Couldn't figure out why everyone was so upset with him....he was quite pleased with his find! [#oops]

Gyros, Onion Rings, Baklava & an Arnold Palmer to drink.....

Will they ship Frisch's Big Boys to Denver? (Can find White Castle "sliders" in the frozen food case here on occasion).......Kozzie I think would be appalled with the "Outback" Steak Houses over here, although the Bloomin Onions are pretty good!
