They've downgraded our storm from a "Heavy Snow Warning" to a "Winter Weather Advisory". Still calling for up to six inches, and the time for said advisory hasn't even started yet.

Our meteorologist mentioned the possibility of "Thundersnow" tonight. He said you'd hear thunder and see snow--maybe the snow will be too thick for lightining to shine through!

We're away from the lake; I'm hoping we don't get enough at work to cover the rails or affect the switches. We recently got some brighter lights at our end of the yard--with a layer of snow on the ground, you ought to be able to see our hump from outer space!

Ooh--fish sounds yummy, Cher! And fries and coleslaw are nice comfort foods to go with it. I need some comfort, with this weather and having to work through it overnight.

Supper tonight is: fried fish, fries, hushpuppies, and cole slaw.

Train nutz, I can't resist anything chocolate (well, hardly can resist), so I just
wanted to make sure you didn't take off with it![:I][}:)]

Yes, Brian, you can put away your potato peeler for awhile. But, if I decide to
do a really, really big meal, I'll let you get your peeler back out, o.k?

Joe, you are very correct: good help is always appreciated here in the
Diner. BTW, have a to-go box made up for you for work tonight.

Afternoon everyone.......

CW and Locomutt, Glad to hear you have the power back on, my parents had their fuse box changed out for a breaker box in 1998, after they decided to add an abvove ground pool. It was just as well, that corner of the house looked a little scary for a loooooong time.

Not much new here, still battling a cold, but it's a bunch better than it was. Now it's pretty much down to hacking up half a lung everyday, just have to take some more medicine for it.

Carl, I wonder if the weathermen were wrong up here-it started snowing as I type this, and a good dusting has already fallen. Forcast is a half-inch at best.

I'll take a fish fry, CW. It feels good to have your cooking again.

The "change" has hit us already. It was supposed to start out as rain, but this is the flakiest rain I've seen in a while. They had been saying four to six inches for us at last report--with the early start I wonder if it's been revised upward.

Interesting weather map--go about 15 miles west of us and there are no warnings whatsoever. I suspect our big climate-control device is playing a big role in what we'll be getting tonight.

I just got up about an hour or so ago, and it'll be time to get some more rest in about three hours! Crazy night shift.[banghead]

I"m with Q on the situation. Temp is down a bit this morning, and the forecast is for winter to come back a bit, but yesterday was balmy. For a while I thought we had been shifted to down to the tropical climes of Indiana.

I understand that the jet stream has been keeping the cold air up in Canada where it belongs. However, I am sure that Kevin is plotting with his fellow citizens to break through the jet stream a force huge chunks of cold air down on us just as punishment. I'll sound the alert when that happens.

Good to hear that Walt and Paula are out of the dark and safe.

OK, CW. I'm putting the cheesecake down. Backing slowly away from the cheesecake. But what happened to the one I left for you? I was taking the one I left as a decoy for the other chocoholics that come in here.

...This January so far has been wild.....Temp right now is 52.5 degrees and our normal is 31 and 15 this time of the year....No snow....heavy clouds this morning. But boy we're going the right direction, towards Spring....Have gained 28 minutes of daylight at sunset and about 3 min. at sunup so far since the min. in December....Wife is afraid the Tulips are going to start coming up in our planters here at the house....Don't think I'll need to mow the yard anyway soon though....Anyway, John Deere needs new tires this Spring before I start that again....But it's good to think about that stuff...ha...

Hot Cider Please( We now have juice to heat up 'da juice)

4 Inches of snow here overnight. Everybody last night and this morning is playing bumper cars account the thin layer of ice under the snow.

Things getting back to normal. (Cat drinking out of the water-pik reservoir, dogs drinking out of the foot bath, Ice & snow - normal is good!)

Welcome back CJ & Mutt

...My neice has reported seeing Robins over in Philadelphia about a week ago...I'm afraid they have come back much too early....Even March can have wild weather swings.
CW....We understand when a home is cut off from power it is a radical change...Last Jan. 5th here in Muncie when the ice storm hit we had 114,000 folks without electricity, some for up to 10 days....We here at our home just 55 hours but we managed to get out of here and go 10 miles where there was power and get in a Hampton Inn until we got power back...But we had no water, heat or of course anything run by electricity...Total electric home and our own well, etc....It REALLY MAKES A DIFFERENCE not to have power....! We were so glad to hear you and Mutt were again supplied with power yesterday....

Larry, thank you for your kind words.

Speaking of the weather feeling like spring time, one day last week, think
it was Sunday afternoon, decided to go for a short walk. While on my stroll,
I saw about 5 or 6 ROBINS !!

CW - Good to have you back to start off the mornings! We've been trying to keep up, but it's been hit or miss...

Ms Mook - My cat (who gets along very well with my dog, and only slightly less so with my daughter's Dalmatian) is always waiting in the wings when I give the dog her daily packet of moist food. Once Kieko eats all the moist food, Pookie sneaks in to clean up some of the leftover "gravy". She gets her water from the dog's dish, too, but doesn't touch the kibbles.

On the other hand, the cat's food dish is up on a counter in the laundry room, so the dogs don't get to it...

What happened to winter? 48 here now, the snow is mostly gone (except the lake effect stuff that fell earlier in the week to our south). I'm afraid that we won't get much more snow, and when you get right down to it, we really do need that 100". It keeps the water table up and the reservoirs full. I can live with the snow - it's the ice and the freeze/thaw I hate.

Good morning everyone!! Ah, how nice it is to say that to everyone again!!
Have been up just long enough to put on the coffee and make up some
fresh juice: have your choice of orange, tangerine, and pineapple juice.

To go along with the kibbles Mookie put out, there is turkey bacon, sausage,
sausage gravy & biscuits, choice of fried taters or hash browns, and
scrambled eggs.

If anyone takes electricity for granted, just let something happen to your
fuse box (if you still have one of those in your house!), and see how
you handle it. I think it was a good thing I was raised in the country, where
things like that could happen at any time.

Everybody take care, and I'll be back in a bit. Came in here before I even
checked my inbox for mail.

Ah - the lights are on in the diner! What a great feeling! It had been so dark and gloomy in here I had to keep sitting out on the back step. Got a splinter in my tail!

I will just whip up a little breakfast before CW comes in - kibbles, meow mix, canned catfish, side of milk! Oh and a vitamin! Won't she be pleased! Even Mutt will enjoy that - dogs always enjoy cat food. Notice cats don't eat dog food - unless they are very indiscriminate!

Brian from Iowa.....won't he be surprised when he comes in and finds the plate that his chocolate cake was on is all clean and put back in the cupboard. Always glad to be of service to people I like! And next time he gets into the cake, maybe I can make his new jeans look expensive - with holes in them!

I read Jim's menu and instantly got heartburn! Time for a little sun - I think I see a spot over in the corner in the rocking chair....@

Well Thank You Chad [:D]

I will have that nice super large, hungry man 32 oz cut of Prime Rib done MR. And for a few sides, a 16 oz NY Strip, scallops, shrimp, mushroom (lots of them please) a nice large baked potato with tons of butter, some of the green stuff (that CW doesn't like) with a nice coating of cheese sauce, 2 other vegys, and some nice hot yeast rolls. [:p] For dessert, a nice large slice of NY Cheesecake, some hot apply pie with cheese, and of course with hot apply pie you just HAVE to have vanilla ice cream, some a few of the speciality desserts of the day. That should do me for half the day. [:D] [:o)] [8D]

It is nice to see CW and Mutt back online. It is good to have POWER, right CW ?

Funny, it is 63 outside right now at about 1 am. Someone remind me what month we are in right now, seems about like April or May to me.

Well everyone take care.
