Mookie, sometimes they deliver food items that aren't "produce".
How about a to-go box of leftover roast, taters & carrots for Driver?

CW - English muffins/bagels are produce? We must talk!

I will take the meatloaf. Yum! Driver isn't crazy about it, and it is a favorite of mine!

Trainnutz, you can have your BLT minus the tomato. Know quite a few people
who have tomato allergies.

Supper tonight:

meatloaf, green beans with onion, and mashed taters and gravy.

Had 59 people come for Produce today. Got romaine lettuce, honeydue
melons, 5# bags of red potatoes, 2 pkgs. of Bays English muffins, cans
of Kroger cinnamon-sugar bagels, and apples.

Forgot to mention yesterday, that I heard from Jim (jhh); he's
doing o.k., but is pretty busy.

CW, can I get a BL? No T for me without consequences. And I'll take fries with that.

BLTs--I'm there!

Very windy today. I wi***he streets were clearer so my bike and I could blow in to work. The usual bike path is probably ice and/or mud. With the temperatures dropping in the afternoon, though, I think I'll be grateful for the car by tonight.

You've got it, Joe. BLTs for lunch, it is. Got plenty of all the ingredients.
And you'll have a choice of fries ot potato chips to go with the BLTs.

So far, have only had 11 show up to sign in for Produce. But as it gets
closer to 9:00, more will be showing up.

Good morning, everyone. Well, it's now Tuesday: which means I have the Produce
crowd this morning. They'll be rining the doorbell in about 40-45 minutes from now.

So I've got breakfast all ready, on the breakfast warmer bar for you. Coffee is made,
hot water ready for hot tea or hot cocoa, and the juice is made.

I'll be back after I get through with Produce, and post the lunch menu for today.

Ford has sold off some satellite business operations but still have some popular makes we recognize such as Jaguar, Aston Martin {i believe is another}, and some others that I'm not up on at the minute....Believe they sold Hertz Rental Car operation not too long ago too....

....No they still have them....at least most of them...In fact the rest of Ford and it's satellites are doing well enough to make a profit....It's the North American business that is not turning a profit....Very similar to GM's troubles....Yes, this will really hurt a lot of districts and indivuals. But I suppose it's this way or none of it will survive long term...Sure, on the Fiesta...We had several test cars in our fleet at BWA when I was still on the job....We were working on a transaxle for it...Didn't work out....

Quentin,
I dont remember, did Ford divest themselves of their overseas money losers...like Jaguar and the Lotus thing?
Anybody remember the Festiva...(like a Yugo only the dash marking were in English,) seem to remember they had a major part of the Rover company also...

This is going to hammer the auto workers world..GM and Ford dumping that many skilled workers out....

...When I was watching W. Clay Ford make his announcement of cutbacks this morning the thought ran through my mind that Ford may need another drastic measure they used right after WWII...A group of fellows that got the name of: "Wizz Kids"....that saved the company and put it back in working order....Remember...One of them was McNamara and Tex Thornton and about 5 or so others....Believe the drastic remake of the '49 Ford was the first result of their effort...getting Ford away from the buggy {2} springs concept design....A first for them.

More on Ford - It was on the national news that the plant near my old hometown will be closing. No more watching Lincolns being taken out for an official test drive before they get shipped out (on CSX). The Wixom plant is served from the Plymouth yards. This will have an effect on traffic there for sure.

I have a close friend who works at the corporate level for Ford - haven't heard how she'll make out.

After running around in the field all day today, hearty vegetable beef sounds pretty darned good. Stomping around in melting snow on a former golf course was a pretty good workout.

CN-IC sends "empty" gons south to MS & LA that mysteriously have way more than the expected amount of snow in them.....they always seem to come back to Chicago to do it again. [;)][;)][;)]

Carl, how did you know that I've been working on a big ole pot of your
Hearty Soup recipe. And, I too, made it with ground beef!! So that is
on the supper menu tonight, along with leftover roast, taters, carrots
and onions.

Also have some fresh baked fudge brownies for dessert.

Sorry supper is so late tonight: been out running errands.

Wouldn't it be nice if trainloads of Midwestern (or Mid-Atlantic) snowmelt could be used to alleviate drought in areas that need it? I suspect that even a trainload would be a drop in the bucket.

Welcome back, JDV; haven't seen you in here for a while. From the way my Michigan relatives are talking (in both Ottawa and Kent Counties), they've had plenty of snow.

I'm waiting for the first call to dinner tonight. May just stick with some Hearty Soup, though (made with ground beef this time).

Rumor has it that following the Blizzard of '77, the folks in Buffalo decided to ship some of their snow south by rail, figuring that it would melt by the time it reached its destination. Unfortunately, there was a cold snap and the cars arrived with the snow more or less intact. [:0]

We got some snow this last weekend! It came by train! And that is just fine with me. Came from possibly the north or east! Very pretty and lasted just the right amount of time - about 5 min!

Had lunch, must get to hammock! Otherwise CW will have stuffed kitty on fireplace mantel!

News Flash! Large, glowing orb seen over northern New York!

Despite the warm weather we've been having, the sun has been a rare visitor. We got just a dusting of snow yesterday, but it's cold again.

We definitely need snow. Never mind the outdoor sports enthusiasts (the local Sunday paper included an article that alluded to ice fishing from a boat) and the many businesses that depend on their dollars - the water table, and yes, even the Great Lakes depend on that 100 or so inches of snow we see every year.

Same goes for Western Michigan. Today is a glorious sunny day, one of very few. Add to that the 5 inches of fresh snow, and it's darn nice out. Could use more snow though. Just used some $ to buy a new computer instead of fixing a snowmobile, if that tells you anything.
