Mookie, sounds like you all had a wild night in Lincoln. Do you need another
bowl of warm milk? I'll be glad to heat another bowl for you.

Coffee on, hot water ready for tea, cocoa. Even have some warm milk for
hot chocolate. And the juice of the day is orange juice.

Breakfast: oatmeal and toast, or sausage and sausage gravy & biscuits,
and scrambled eggs.

Lunch today will be fish: fried, baked, broiled, with fries, hushpuppies and
cole slaw. Also have tuna sandwiches.

Wow! We had 35-40 mph winds last nite and a double house fire! 2 alarm!

They build these expensive matchbox houses and one of them had gasoline stored in a shed under the deck and attached to the house. Oops. It was totally gutted and the wind blew the fire into the house next door. Even the fire chief said "the lightweight construction of the houses let the flames spread." $175K and it is lightweight! Wind 2 and houses 0.

The fire dept did a fantastic job, but had to call in people on their day off to help protect the rest of the city. Had 6 companies working (this was 6 engines and 2 aerials) Then called for two more engines to protect the rest of the neighborhood and give some relief. Can you tell what I use my scanner for?

But it is 48 degrees (4 am) and going up. A little windy, but nice. And "But I Love You" is back home - as of 4 pm yesterday! Holding hands to boot.

I want a warm bowl of milk and some sleeping pills. Gah!

John, that is why they call Philadelphia the City of Brotherly Love, it's the truth even to this day. As for the Franklin Institute, I've been there so very very very many times. I am a big fan of American History and Benjamin Franklin. If you ever get to come to Philly again you should cheak it out we have brand new exibits! In regards to you being from a small place, once you've been everywere in Philadelphia and seen it a gazillion times then it does sometimes become small. BUT I'm not writing off my city. lol

Emma, maybe the media figure that everyone knows that Seattle (and therefore the rest of Washington, including the desert areas) get a lot of rain all the time, and a few more feet isn't that newsworthy. We railroaders and railfans have been getting slightly better coverage of things up that way.

Sometimes I'm glad I didn't become a journalist.

Bad weather for Febuary! We just got done with bad weather for January(and December).
We were 4 days away from a new record for the number of days with non stop rain. It was sort of annoying, we had to put up with all that rain and we still didn't get the record. The mud slides shut down Sounder train and Amtrak for about a week. It is interesting, when they have a flood or a mudslide in California it is all over the national news, but when we have mass flooding and mudslides here in western Washington we never even get mentioned. Oh well.

SJ, the one time I thought I had deep pockets they were in fact golf pockets--there was a hole in one.

I will gladly carry my own not-too-modest weight around here for the celebration, but beyond that there may be problems.

Of course, I may have to check things out for myself, in about a month or so.

I'm sure the same electricity that rocked the hammock could power the blanket. I would hope you could do the two simultaneously, with a little care. The alternative--kitten on a spit with a bed of coals beneath--is too horrible to think of!

yes very nice today.talked with mr farmer who owns the land where matt and I watch for trains.he doesnt mind us watching trains but he has problems with other people being bad nieghboors and leaving their trash behind and going down the road.i dont think those neighboors are interested in trains.CW will take my carryout plate as today is my friday.

30 min more and I can inflict myself on BNSF trackside and catch some rays at the same time. They say it is very windy, so will only unbutton 3 buttons on fur coat! I am sure it is headed east!

....Heard someone say of "bad" weather expected for Feburary....to pay for what we're having now....I look at that a bit different. December here avg. 12 degrees below normal, plus excess snow....and now well towards the end of January we have been avg. 10 degrees above normal, so.....It seems to me to be averaging out just about right....
I see IRS matter being discussed too, so my comment on that is....Ours is on the way tax man has it, and he files via electronic means and the return really comes back fast...It's the way to go.
Sunshine abounds in Muncie today....Mid 40's temp. Pretty nice..{For January}....

Sorry to say the the Almighty has assigned the tax issue to the IRS. I have tried to negotiate with Him on several occasions, but He has said He has a hard enough time with His tax issues.

However, I suppose He could look upon you with a little more favor than I, so a prayer might work.

Well today is my Monday. [B)] But I will say, the week does go by fast. I tell the day by what job I am doing since my job is a relief job. It is nice to get to do something different most every day instead of doing the same thing every day. Tonight I am just "extra", so if someone doesn't show up then I do their job. The other days I have a set job, but not the same job every day. I hope that makes sense. [;)]

Well last night I spent time organizing my deductions for income tax. [:(] I am missing 2 things so I can not yet file my taxes. [:(!] I hope and prayer that I get a refund this year. You can make that a prayer request if you so desire. [^]

Well got to run, time to walk the dog (again), have lunch, and start getting ready for work.

Sorry I'm a little late posting the lunch menu. Been busy trying to figure out
the instructions for a crochet project.

Lunch today will be: leftover tuna melt casserole, along with you choice of:
cream of tomato soup, hearty beef soup, or cream of broccoli soup. Sand-
wiches will be: PB&J and grilled cheese.

Ah, memories, memories... my wife of 25 years and I hooked up for the first time at an eviction party, organized when some neighbors in the mobile home court I lived in at the time got thrown out. She was the best friend of a neighbor who lived next to the evicted tenants.
