Carl,CW said that it can be a separate event;or we could try to intertwine
them.[:D]

UH, Very Glad that You and Pat are all right from your "Near Miss(?)"
situation. Should we notify LC & Gabe just in case anything else comes
from this ??

Looks like tonight, we are going to get lazy and go out to eat. I think it's possibly going to be Long John Silvers.

But those Chicken and Dumplings do sound good. I know that Cracker Barrell has some that are great.

Well, lets see,CW just mumbled something to me that sounded
something like dinner would be ready around 6:00-6:30pm.[^] [dinner]

Carl,I think she said that it was in the "cooler",just waiting for you;
whenever you felt like having it. [8D]

Sarah,Yes it is "Chicken and Dumplings",and there has been a very
"LARGE" portion set aside for you !!!! [swg]

If anyone is interested in the barge accident with the K.&I.T. bridge over
the Ohio river here in our city;go to www.courier-journal.com
you should find it under "Local News".

Cher, I suspect that Wednesday is going to be too late for the 100,000th-customer party.
Looks like we'll need to make it a separate event!

The Amigos tried to sneak in past us, but thanks to some good driving maneuvers, we caught them. No pictures--sorry! They put the Dash 8 in the middle, which was the best possible arrangement for these three.

We had a good trip out--the Three Amigos, dinner, Pat found a store that stocks the brand of wool yarn she's been looking for, we satisfied our curiosity about the Purple Hotel (yes, that's the name--and the color!), and took a trip over the infamous Grand Avenue crossing in Elmwood Park, and by the new grade separation in Franklin Park.

On the way home, however, we were rear-ended by a car that didn't see us or the red light we were stopped for. Fortunately, this driver swerved and struck us only a glancing blow. We'll have to replace a tail-light lens (and he'll get the bill). I was more shaken than Pat, because I saw how fast this guy was coming at us, through the rear-view mirror. If he'd hit us straight on, things might have been a whole lot worse.

I'm not supposed to have caffeine, but I think I will anyway.

Well, speaking of rain it is raining a bit here in the great state of Pennsylvania, but it's not comming down hard. It's light rain. If it got any worse I might think about watching the river rise some more.

Carl, I'm jealous, your going to get to see the 3 amigos today! That has to brighten up the day a bit, really!!!! Well, little ol' me is just going to be sitting here in the house, doing nothing.........
Darn and I was hoping that you can send the 3 amigos over to Philadelphia, sometime. hehehehe

CW is din din ready now? Let me guess could it be chicken and dumplings today??? If so I'm expecting a very large portion!! lol

Cher, I had to forego the pizza last night--still getting over a bout of (well, I shouldn't discuss it in the Diner). If it's not still there, I hope someone else enjoyed it! Should be back with my appetite by suppertime.

Rotten weather here--rainy and falling temps. Still, we may have a Three Amigos show on the main line around noon today, so I could be trackside.

Joe, thank you so much for getting in here first, and putting the coffee on
and making the juice. It's so good to have a good helper in here!

Starting to put the Sunday brunch items on the breakfast warmer bar. On
the menu this morning will be:

apple cinnamon pancakes w/syrup; turkey bacon, sausage patties, sausage
gravy w/fresh homemade biscuits; country fried ham w/red eye gravy, and
scrambled eggs.

Anyone here remember the singer Wilson Pickett? He passed away last
week at age 64. His funeral and burial was here in Louisville yesterday.
He was buried beside his mother at Evergreen Cemetary. I never knew
that his family lived here, until I read about his death last week. Also did
not realize that he wrote almost, if not all, the songs he sang.

Everyone have a great Sunday morning. I'll be very busy fixing supper for
tonight: will let you know what supper will be later on, probably around two
p.m. EST.

Hi everyone. Just got a computer at home and can check in on the weekends. Pizza sounds good, but just had some for Sat. night supper. Have a good week end. Sunny and moderately warm in Michigan. Very abnormal. Strange winter.

Carl, I hadn't noticed that! But I believe there is a party in the works for
Wednesday. I need to check with Mookie Monday, to make sure everything
is still a go for Wednesday.

Did you enjoy your pineapple pizza tonight? Hope everyone has enjoyed
their pizzas tonight.

See you all tomorrow morning.

Looks like we should have another party sometime this week (for someone coming into the diner, and for Mook's neighbors leaving).

I had read that somewhere concerning the barges. Seems like they really have a mess on their hands. I may be down that way next week. As I have told you, we are busier than ever. I've got a few things I need to get there across the river from you to make our customers happy.

Thanks for the pics Joe. Great as usual.

Well, myself and the better half are going out tonight and have a couple drinks. We don't get to get out that often. So I'll check in tomorrow afternoon to see what's going on.

Brian (KY)

Brian, ( Ky Brian, this is going to get confusing !!)

You should have seen the video of that barge "banging" off the "roller gates" at the
dam before it went on through downstream. That looked like it would have been a
"WILD" ride.[:0]
Depending on what day next week you're able to be down this way,if you go on into
New Albany (or even this side) you may be able to see a few things. That company
was supposed to start "floating" a crew down river from Pittsburgh yesterday, with
NO chance of anything happening 'til Mon.
Guess NS and CSX aren't too worried about things, traffic seems to be running
normally for them;and the yard doesn't seem to be real backed up.

Hope you and the better half have a great time tonight, just make it home safely !!

ready.

For the rest of us, the remaining pizzas will be ready around 7 p.m. EST.

In this particular instance,I think you're going to have to ask the tow-boat
captain and crew how they "lost" these barges. Naturally NTSB will be
investigating, and an In. Sen. wants the FRA to inspect the K & I bridge,
for other than visable damage. The tow was owned and operated by the
same company that rammed a bridge in Oklahoma several years ago,
( I-40 bridge,I think)killing about 14 people.

CW, I still have baked beans left. When I made them yesterday, I used my grandmother's recipe but with the "church supper" quantities (enough to feed Hannibal's Army and then some). That is, if you can stand the "aftereffects". [(-D]

Saturday morning here in Muncie is pretty nice....Just was out to mailbox for paper and it feels like spring...45 and no wind and the sun peeking through a layer of clouds at the horizon....
Mutt, that sounds like a wild situation with the river barge you mention...I always tried to see what action I could see as we passed over the I-65 bridge there heading south, etc.....Once we came down the Ohio River from Madison, In. on a small boat and in passing those barges along the way they sure do look menacing....Something to stay out of the way of for sure....Massive and threatening from that angle.

Good morning, everyone! Joe, thanks for getting the coffee on, and making
the juice! Just couldn't wake up this morning. Was talking with someone
on the phone until about quater to one this morning.

Saturday brunch will be: country fried ham w/redeye gravy, biscuits, gravy,
and if anyone doesn't want country fried ham, we also have sausage for
breakfast. We also have some orange marmalade and some apple butter
to go on those biscuits.

Everyone have a safe day. We're to have a high today in the upper 50s, with
nice sunshine; then, rain coming in tonight sometime.
