Thank you, everybody, for the [#welcome] messages! Walt and I feel truly
blessed to have friends (family) like all of you in our lives. You are all so
very precious to both of us. Please, don't ever forget that!!

Chad, could I have an order of lasagna and a bowl of spicy hot chilli?!?!
That sounds so good right now. I'll provide the dessert: do have a couple
of chocolate cakes out, and an apple pie, and a strawberry cobbler.

I thoughtthe place looked a little brighter! I don't think that's purely the result of increased lighting.

Well, the "Hallelujah Chorus" is now going!! WE HAVE ELECTRICITY again
after a week in the dark[:D][:D] Now we no longer feel quite like "mushrooms":
you know, they are grown in the dark!![:I][}:)] The man from the electric company
has just left after hooking us up from the weather-head. The electricians had
us hooked up temporarily at 3:10 p.m. EST.

Walt and I want to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for
your thoughts and prayers. You don't know what that means to us, knowing
everyone of you has been thinking of us, and praying for us. PRAYERS DO
WORK!! We can NEVER thank all of you enough.

Think Mutt and I are ready for some of that meat loaf, mashed taters, Larry's
barbequed chicken, and everything else!! Sure does sound good for tonight!!

CHAD: hope your hand is better very, very soon. We will keep YOU in our
prayers!!

Blah day today, in spite of the nice weather. Tomorrow is going to be fun here--they just posted a winter storm watch for tomorrow night; we could get four to eight inches of snow by Saturday morning.

Hmmm...I forgot when MC was due to arrive in our neck of the woods. You don't suppose this would be the feathery stuff, do you?

I still do the two finger peck on the keyboard so it is just a matter of useing my middle finger on my right hand instead of my index. There is no pain involved (except for what the doctor did) and that's why I didn't address the issue right away. I am getting tired of people asking what I am pointing at though.[;)]

Jim, Thanks for the medical advice. Your check will be in the mail even though your advice costs more then the doctor visit did.[:O]

Jen, It's a 4-5 days ride on horseback, a 1 1/2 days drive, and a 2 hr flight. I'll pick you up here in SD and give you a ride when your flight comes in.[swg]

Chad - blood poisoning? That can be so dangerous!

Sorry you are missing some sleep, but just think - you can charge it to "Job Security!"....

Now since I have some real problems with our local medical profession lately, how far is it from Nebraska to TJ?

Hey Chad

Take 2 aspirin and drink one half bottle of Nyquill before bedtime. That should help you sleep tonight. [^]

BTW That will be $35, just sent me a check. [;)] [:D]

I hope your hand is better and you sleep well tonight. [:)]

Hi All

Well today is my Monday [8] [:(] So it is back to work today. [B)]

Windy today, but warm, about 60 right now and going to hit almost 70. [:0] And THIS is the middle of winter, huh? Well thank God is it not 20 and 6 inches of snow. [:)] After all the storms and the predictied high prices for gas, heating oil and propane it is nice it isn't as much winter as possible. My natural gas bill is on level billing but has actually decreased 1 buck each of the last 2 months. [8D] That certainly is better than going up 10 or 15 bucks a month. [:p]

Hey Mookie [8)]

I made two 9 inch rounds of yellow cake yesterday. Then topped them with caramel icing and chopped walnuts. [:p] They are not bad if I do say so myself. The proof is in the pudding errrr cake, since one of them is already gone. [:0] [:p] [:D] The second one is in danger too. [;)] [:o)] [8D] It will probally be history by tomorrow afternoon. [:p]

Well the day is wasting.

See yall. [:)]

Good morning gang,
Well it's been a weird day for me (actually started yesterday but sience I didn't get but an hour or two of sleep.. well you know). About 3 days ago the tip of my index finger started getting sore, I think from an ingrown fingernail. 2 days ago it started to blister up. Yesterday morning it was getting red and white and black and blue and quite large. it started to hurt more and more as the day progressed. I had decided to make a doctor appointment for this morning. But by the end of the day my hand and wrist started to get red and hurting too. By then it was too late to see a doctor (if I could get an appt.) and was faceing an emergency room visit with no health insureance (big $$$ as we all know).

Well my construction foreman talked me into seeing his doctor in Tiajuana. At first I had all kinds of scarry visions of what Mexican doctors were like, but I was running out of options. So I went down to Tj to see his doctor. After about a 15 min wait in the lobby (first come first serve) I got to see the doctor. He doesn't speak english so I got my construction guy to translate. The first thing he said was this is going to hurt, he was right but it had to be done. Then he told me that had I waited till this morning I might have lost my hand.

So without a local, he used a big needle to poke about 6 holes in the infected area to drain it out. That didn't hurt nearly as bad as him squeezing all the blood & yuck out. He got right down to bussiness from the start and within ten minuets I was out the door with a perscription in hand. And after a quick stop at the pharmacy I was back at the border 10 minuets later.

Then I got to ride the trolley back up to the E street station where I had left my truck earlier. That was the first time I actually rode the trolly, that was cool. So the whole adventure only cost like $38. $30 for the doctor visit $6 for the perscription and $2 for the trolley ride. Why can't medical attention be that painless (hassle wise) and inexpensive here in the states?

Then I get home and because of the anti-biodics I can't drink my usual couple of 40s of beer, so I wasn't able to fall asleep till a lot later then usual. I was up till about 1am. I had barely dozed off when I got a call from the Sweetwater authority (water co.) that they had a main water line blow out and I needed to come locate my lines. Normaly the tech that's on call would handle this but he couldn't be reached (he's in big trouble for that) so I had to go out and do it. Anyway after gathering my tools I got on scene and it was crazy.

The main had blasted a hole in the street big enough to drop a car into. The fountain of water must have been 75-100 feet high. I missed that as they had it shut down by the time I arrived. But the carnage was awsome. Mud and debris covered a 200' radius that included a new car lot. Well I had to wait my turn to mark my lines out. After everyone else (power, phone, traffic lights, water, sewer,Cox cable and us) had everything marked out I split. By that time it was too late to go back to sleep so I went home and showered and cleaned and bandaged my finger then came to work ( a little earlier then usual).

What a day. And later I have to goto a utility meeting with a bunch of suits, that's going to be fun.
