Looking at about 4 inches of wet snow now turning to ice. (Was promised 10-16 inches by Ol' Badguess the wanna-be weatherman)...At least the prairies won't be burning the next few weeks. Wondering if Ma Nature is going to even out the average moisture all at once this year. Sounds like Cyclone Tree was douing that to Kozzie, M636 and the others in Australia. Hope they surface OK..............

I just woke the Kitten from her nap. She's safe, cozy, curled up, and warm. They have about seven inches of snow so far, and expect about that much more. She's hoping to be in tomorrow.

I, on the other hand, probably won't be here as often as before. My schedule is changing again, and that will allow me to pop in for dinner when it looks good, but that's about it. No more late-night snacks, because there will be no more late nights.

And as for our weather, I'm hoping that the leftovers from SJ's storm continue to track south of here. We were promised a precipitation-free week. We're now over 200 miles on the bike, though it will stay home for the next couple of days.

So best wishes to all, and hugs to those who will accept them.

Joe, thanks for making beef stew and corn bread. You must have read my
mind; because that's what I was going to make supper, because that's what
I started making, after we got back from the airport. With the stew and cornbread
we both made, we should have plenty for tonight's supper, and lunch tomorrow.

...We're being threatened with a first day of spring weather system coming in from the southwest....Reports of from 2 to 4" to 10".....Believe the heavest is going just to the south of us...{I sure hope so}. Believe the reality will be somewhere between 2 and 6" of the stuff. Surely can't last long now with the ground being warmer, etc....

CW....Louisville must be a pretty good rail fanning location....Sounds like you get to see lots of activity in a short period of time. I've passed thru your area many times but only on I-65 and from that {one is busy watching the rapid traffic}, I've seen very little rail action. Oh, yea, did land at your airport some years ago on the way to Florida.

Sure hope Mookie makes it in. Joe, her big coffee mug is ready and waiting to have
coffee poured into it, as soon as she comes in the door.

Breakfast is on the warmer bar: bacon, eggs, toast, sausage, biscuits, sausage
gravy, scrambled eggs. There's even some English muffins on the warmer bar,
if anyone wants them this morning.

Since we'll be gone to the airport, I've made up sandwiches and put in the cooler
for lunch today. See everyone later.

Quite the blaze there, 'Mutt. To get an idea of the resources needed to extinguish a fire of that size (as opposed to simply letting it burn out, which often happens), apply the formula area divided by three times the number of floors. A building 100x200x2 floors fully involved needs well over 13,000 gallons of water per minute. Not sure how big this building was, but now you see why they dumped nearly every firehouse in the city.

Closest I came to fighting fire this weekend was when someone (not a friend of the fire department - we've had issues with the individual before) called in the fire in the BBQ pit when we first lit it off. We create a base of hardwood, then add charcoal later. Add some lighter fluid to the hardwood and it flames a bit. Wasn't so bad for us, as we were already up and around, but the two mutual aid departments probably didn't appreciate the early wake-up.

Speaking of the pit - sorry I haven't been around - my fire department cooked and sold 700 halves of chicken, with the usual salads and beans, on Sunday. Had to make the salads and do other preps on Saturday. Actually sold out, which was nice. We always move all the chicken, but sometimes some of it goes for discount prices. All in all, a really good event.

Mookie's meal is in the cooler with a big sign on it DON'T MIFF THE CAT.

well spring arrives this afternoon about 2 pm our time.they are still saying the snow will go south of us but if you live in Indy or dayton lookout.better get the juice and coffee ready.and better get the big mug out for mookie with all the snow she got.

Quentin, Mutt said to blame the wind for that one. She was reluctant to have her
picture taken anyway.

I even made a few trips with them railfanning. Really enjoyed it! Today, we went
over to the Va. Ave. interlocking, and it was really rocking over there. We saw a
light engine move, a transfer job from one main to the line going to another
small yard and tank washing facility; then we saw three more trains: one right
behind one, and a passing meet on the other track. Sarah said she wanted to
see some action on her last trip over there before leaving, and she got her
wish, big time! (This was in about a 45 minute time span.)

Got some popcorn popped for you all to enjoy. And there are the usual snacks
for the late night people.

It seems that we've had a busy weekend, not only taking pictures of a
fire scene but, also been able to do railfaning at the same time.

The first picture seems as if somebody was rather reluctant to have
her picture taken, even though I was trying to include her in the picture.
While we were there taking the pictures of the fire scene, looks like the
P & L delivered a cut of cars for the L & I.

You will need to see if the cat comes in with snowshoes tomorrow in Lincoln. We are looking at 10-14 inches of SNOW tonight. Just changing to snow from a light drizzle right now. This time in 1993, the weatherguesser said 8-10 inches and we got 60 inches in 4 days. No complaints, we really need the moisture, especially in southern CO - It was raining ashes here yesterday from a grass fire.

Well, for Sunday Dinner, the menu is:

spaghetti w/meat sauce (chunky pieces of meat in the sauce) with your choice
of garlic sticks or Texas garlic toast.

Dessert will be: your choice of white cake w/white icing, or chocolate cake w/
chocolate icing.

On a sad note, we're definitely NOT looking forward to Sarah leaving tomorrow;
the three of us are trying to figure out a way for her to stay here, and finishing
her classes at the same time. [V][:(]

and refills when needed.(we have to watch about certain words used like that,

Hope you did as well railfanning as we did here;along with the fire scene shots,
we got in some really good actual raifanning pictures also.
We'll be going out again after a bit,so some one can say good bye to what's sort
of become a very favorite railfanning place for her, for about 2 1/2 weeks now.[:(][sigh]
