Yeah!!!!!!!! The strike is over-I go back to the college tomarrow. At 1:30pm, a friend of mine who is running for Niagara Falls City Council, and myself are going to meet the owners of CHIN-TV and an Italian Senator. The Italian Ambassador to Canada MIGHT be there-if he is, I'll likely meet him too.

As member of the board of directors for the college student council, I have to figure out how to grow our revenues and start developing reserves because we have a minor fiscal problem and so it has resulted in some losses due to the strike so, I have to look at the books and discuss economic strategies with the General Manager to see what can be done. I also plan on having a meeting with the President of the College to see what kind of funding is planned on improved transit services for students.

As far as school work goes, the year is almost done and we have only done maybe 50% of all tests.....................that is going to suck big time..............LOL.

Jim - You need to use cheap beer (no sense wasting the good stuff.[:D]), but for snails, I've heard of putting jar lids down and filling them with beer...

Nice day here today - might have to defer some indoor duties to enjoy the great outdoors. Tomorrow will definitely be outside - I'm working on a story series to submit to our local paper about the newest class of recruit volunteer firefighters. Planning on a 4 story set. They'll be outside drilling in their gear, so I'll have some good photo ops and probably time to interview several of them for story focus. They haven't said that they will use them, but I'm hoping. We want to get the word out that these folks are putting forth the effort, and that we need more.

I'll be in for pizza later!

Methinks we need to put some sort of throw rug under the hammock. Then we can just take it outside and shake it out....

Just poking my head in to say "Hi." Things are picking up at work with the snow gone and the temps up in the 40's. Had to take the past two days off. Had both my right and left lower first bicuspids pulled to make room for when the braces go on the lower teeth so I am on soft food and liquids for a couple more days. No pain in the mouth but my body is not reacting well to the anesthesia but slowly progressing. I will stop in when I can.

Joe are you saying the kitty was a little messy? [:0] Shirly not. <Don't call me Shirly [:o)] > I think it must have been one of them "lurkers" who noticed our regular feline was not in her normal spot and decided to take advantage of it. [;)] We all know our Mookie would NEVER leave a mess like that. [8)]

The sun is out today and that makes for a nice welcome for some of my railfaning friends from Chicago who are suspose to be here around 2. I am going to give them a tour of our yard. [:)]

A few more of my Hostas are up. I am a little concerned that some may have died at the last of summer. [:(] The snail, slugs, and drought were very hard on them even tho they were in the shade. The snail bait didn't seem to do much good last year either. [V]

Well I am trying to get a little house work done before work. So I must be off now.

Joe, thanks for making the coffee, and juice. You are always such a good helper here
in the Diner. And thank you for vacumming up the cake crumbs.

Saturday brunch is now ready: turkey bacon, sausage patties, sausage gravy,
biscuits, and southwestern style hash browns are on the warmer bar. Everything's
ready for you all to help yourselves.

Will spend the day making up the pizzas for tonight's pizza fest. Then, around
five o'clock, all I'll have to do is start putting them in the oven, and setting them out
on the warmer bar.

Still haven't seen copcarss around. Sure hope he's all right.

Everyone have a great day, and see you back in here tonight.

Tomorrow is the annual conference for the Center for Railroad Photography & Art. This year the conference is at Marquette University in Milwaukee and is in conjunction with an on going display of the paintings and photographs of the late Ted Rose.

I will be there for the day, so will be taking lunch at the Wisconsin Club rather than the Depot Diner. I'll be back at least lurking around the Diner on Sunday.

Went Greek tonight for Athena--I mean, Ellen--'s birthday. Interesting foods, great dessert, loving daughter and granddaughter (and son-in-law, of course). Now I can barely stay awake.

Now CW all I need for desert is a soft pretzel. Oh by the way my ice cream shop opened up today Ritas and guess what they sell becides ice cream, soft pretzels!!! I can't wait!! [:D][(-D]

Can you belive it I've only been in college for three days now since Spring Break and I'm already being hit with projects for both Bussiness Management 115, and for Technical Writing? I hate Tech Writing, and I thought I was done when I graduated high school 1 year & 1/2 ago. Grrrrrrrrrrr. To top it off I have a test to take next Monday in Direct Diesel Injection for my Fuel Systems and Emissions class.

Oh because I'm in a Fuel and Emissions class I'll be receiving my Pennsylvania State Inspection Licence for both Safety and Emissions on for gasoline and diesel vehicles.

Ok what is this I hear about snow??? Please send it to Philadelphia PA.

I'm in...

Big fire across the county from me this morning. Old feed mill, across the street from an elementary school. School was never in danger, and the kids weren't there yet (6:30AM), but they attended school elsewhere for the day. Smoke was visible for miles.

Jim, here's your coffee, all ready for you.

Today's lunch will be: tuna salad sandwiches w/curly fries; or, you can have
a cod fish sandwich w/fries, cole slaw, and hushpuppies. For those who do
not want seafood, there is country fried steak w/milk gravy, mashed potatoes
and steak fries.

Dessert: oatmeal cookies and ice cream.

A few years back we were at afantastic place called Cadilac Jack's ,where I bought a Colorado Southern RR lantern. I was wondering if that was still there ? mabey I could find a D&RGW lantern. I also have a 1927 N&W lantern .

WoW There wasn't much action today in the diner. Well.......

Finally.......I have come back to the Diner, thank goodness. I was starting to miss the food. hehehehe

Well as most of you know I am now back in Philadelphia, Pennsylvanina. [:(] I personally am not too happy about that one, I didn't want to come back after the wonderful time I had down in Louisville.

I want to thank everyone who wished me well on my flight back home. Man was it an interesting one. First it was delayed for about four hours, then when we approched Philadelphia we had to circle around the air port for about 1/2 hour, then when we finally landed on the ground we had to wait an additional 20 mins to get an open gate, then I had to wait about 45 mins at the baggage claim. Then after that I got on Septa's R1 regional rail to Center City, then from there I got on the R8, which was delayed about 10 mins. At around 11 something pm I reached home. I should of been home at 6pm. I did get a free ride on the R1 though, because I knew the conductor.

I really do wi***hat I could of taken Amtrak's Kentucky Cardinal but, unfortunitly the train doesn't exist anymore. I think Amtrak should bring it back. That would of been much better than US Air.

Anyone wanting snow, drop me an e-mail. I will package it up for you and send it on the first coal train heading east. (or west if you really want snow!) We have 10-12 foot snowpeople! They are running a contest on the best snowperson in town and I personally have seen some pretty good ones. And snow forts! Lots of snow forts!

But will be back into the 40's and maybe close to 50 this weekend, so will all turn to clumps of rain. It is very pretty in the fields next to where we train watch. Looks like smooth white frosting on a chocolate cake....oh oh.....################### off to check the counters for any cake....#######
