Brian of IA....That's quite an accomplishment on the weight. Congratulations. On bike riding west to east across our great open territory...I would imagine it just may have a slight advantage since the elevation is going lower ever so slightly as one travels east....and How about the prevailing western winds....Might that help...? I know it turns around and heads from the east at times...Just would imagine the western blow might prevail.....Years ago driving out across the plains I noted the elevations did rise in each little town we came to...Checking on RR stations.

Okay, ya'll. I couldn't help myself after reading about all the spring cleaning. I went out and bought a spreader so I can kill bugs and feed grass. CW, I love fruit and jello. My mom used to take carrots, shred them and put them in orange jello with crushed pineapple. I made it not too long ago, enjoying it just as I did years ago.

Brian, How did you lose so much weight? I want a bicycle, recommendations?

I was in Milwaukee last weekend attending the Conference for Railroad Photography and Art at Marquette. If you know nothing about this fine foundation, check them out at
http://www.railphoto-art.org/ One of the best things that happened was that I got to meet jeaton and his wife. Jay, it was a pleasure to meet you both.

So, when do we all show up at Rochelle for a picnic? I had mentioned doing that last year, but I didn't follow up on it. I still will plan it if you all are interested. Let's say a weekend in August or September? I would love to meet Paula and Ms. Mookie and Sara and Brian and....so on.

Can't join the bike riding gang: can't ride a bike. Never had the coordination for it.

Sure is a beautiful day out. Got out and finished cleaning up from cutting back the
burning bushes. Temp is around 76, give or take a couple of degrees.

Supper tonight will be: meat loaf, mashed taters, gravy, peas and carrots.

Got strawberry and mixed fruit Jell-O for dessert, with Cool Whip topping .
The strawberry has bananna slices and sliced strawberries in it; and the mixed
fruit has fruit cocktail in it.

Well, since I didn't know, I had to go look. It starts June 4-10 and goes west to east - covers 495 miles and about 600 riders.

Darn - I think I have a fur appointment every day that week and won't be able to make it!

So put down 599 riders!

I'm afraid I'd be bucking the crowd if I did that- RAGBRAI always goes west to east.[banghead] Riders start with their rear wheel in the Missouri River and end seven days later with their front wheel in the Mississippi. Well, the experienced, non-party-animal riders do that.

BRAN? Does that go from the west side to the east or vice-versa? If so, that's a LOOOONG ride! And east-to-west would be really tough, uphill all the way!

Brian - we will like you no matter what! You are a nice person and we are big on those!

If you do BRAI - go east to west and then do the BRAN! :)

Gee, looks like we've had a very slow morning here in the Depot Diner and Coffee
Shop. Everybody who does not work outside the home, must be out in their yard
working.

Anyway, here's what is on the lunch menu today:

tuna salad club sandwiches w/your choice of fries or potato chips, and you can
also have dill or sweet pickles with your sandwich.,

Sorry - had to catch a train in another part of the forum. Then had to get coffee. Then had to write in my diary - "Dear Diary" - ...................................................(I lead a very boring life).

Sarah - I did my spring yard work - I picked up the empty corn cobs out of the back yard that the squirrels left behind. Now will wait for summer.

Time for rest...... bbbb** - notice my boots and my earrings match? (it is raining here - just a smidge)

And thought for today - Don't kiss your dog on the lips (don't they know dogs don't have lips either) - how about mouf! You transmit way more disease to your dog/cat when you kiss them than they will to you! Even knowing where those moufs have been -

oh ick! I think I just grossed myself out!

Joe, you could get the regular snacks like chips, pretzels, or maybe some Triscuts,
and put cheese spreads on them, or maybe take some peanut M&Ms for them.

Good morning, all! We've got beautiful sunshine this morning, and supposed to
get up to 67 degrees today. That will be very nice. But then, rain coming in tomor-
row.

Breakfast is ready. Got all the regular breafast menu items going, so let me know
what you want to eat.

Well, have I got a story today. I was out getting in my truck when I saw some of the high school students at the Vocational School, in Auto Tech pushing this Mazda pice of [censored] around the parking lot. They were trying to get it started. Then I heard this hugh BANG, then a whole bunch of white smoke appeared. It turns out the guy blew a head gasket, I saw a whole bunch of anti-freeze or coolant in the form of thick white smoke comming out the exhaust. Well, here's the good part. The car shuts off right infront of my truck. So, I'm sitting there, until the driver asks me to push his car. So I decided to since I have a HUGE steel push bar on the front of it. Here we go 1st gear..............2nd gear...........3rd gear......then all of a sudden his car starts back up while I'm pushing it and tons and I mean tons of white smoke just surrounded me, and I had the windows down. I also couldn't see too good, so I drop back into 2nd...gear.......1st gear...then since my eyes were getting iritatted I accidentally tromped down on the throttle did a miniture burn out, and I pushed the guy's car up on a 9 percent grade grassy hill. I also wore deep groves in the grass. [:O][:I][:D][:P] OPPS.................................... I wonder what kind of looks I'm going to get tomorrow when park in the lot tomorrow?????

Mutt was out in the yard also today, remember CW's not tall enough to reach
the top of the big "Burning Bush";so he had to do that much of the trimming !![:D]

Are those actually deep grooves in the grass,or were you trying to bury
a certain car ??!! [(-D][(-D][(-D][(-D]

Ruts in the lawn? My, my.... At least it was an accident....

Merger Mania? CSX dispatcher tonight gave out orders to a northbound with a BNSF 9000 series in the lead (sorry - didn't catch the whole number), followed by orders for a southbound with CN power. What railroad is this?

Worst part - I thought the BNSF power was rolling merrily north. Little did I realize (until it was way to late) that they were in the hole for the southbound and I probably could have gotten a picture or two if I took a detour home...

That BLT is sounding really good....

Got the burning bushes cut back, along with the holly bush. Now, I need to go
back out and put all the clippings in a trash bag.

Supper tonight: BLTs w/fries, since it looks like everybody's getting Spring Fever,
and is working out in the their yards.

...Too bad to hear of your experience with the 13th CW......and of course the result for Walt too.
Today, I officially opened my grass manicuring process for the season...No mowing, but got the tractor out and aired up the tires....installed new spark plug and drove the tractor a bit to put some charge back in the battery and now since it's to be really nice tomorrow and about 70 degrees....and....believe the grass will be ready for it's first run over to smooth it out....Then the routine will really start. But first, after the first mowing the wheels will come off and go to the tire store for new tires. Then, we'll be good and ready.

It is a busy day so far. [:)]

I have been working in the back yard. It is time for a break. [;)]

I have rediscovered one of the unwritten rules of life. Last week I got up a little late. The garbage truck was already leaving the area and I didn't put out my tra***he night before. This week I got up early, about 7 and put the trash out. The garbage truck just ran a few minutes ago, in other words about noon.

Hmmm, the storm siren test is late. They just went off. Someone must have been asleep at the switch. [;)]

It is a nice day. It is about 67 and sunny, going up to about 75.

Club sandwich sure sounds good about right now. [;)]

I'm getting ready to get out in the front yard, and trim our burning bushes; so, I've
made up the following sandwiches, and put in the cooler for everyone's lunches
today: bologna & cheese, ham & cheese, roast beef, turkey and pickle loaf.
There are bags of chips on the counter to go with the sandwiches.

Good morning, everyone. I'm like Mookie this morning: can't seem to get
my eyes open this morning.

Mutt, thanks for putting the coffee on, and making the juice.

Breakfast this morning: your choice of biscuits and sausage, cereal with
bananas and strawberries , or oatmeal & toast.

Think I might find a booth, and go back to sleep.
