Morning All

Welcome Scuta [#welcome] [tup]

I have been busy and probally have missed a ton of stuff here in the diner. [:(]

I worked 4 hours OT after my normal shift yesterday and am working 8 hours OT tonight on 3 rd shift. [^] The OT is good for the paycheck but not so good on the body and mind. OT kinda makes my halftimers worse. [;)]

I will be going to bed in a few minutes trying to get some sleep. Hopefully Duchess will be good.

Well I am off to check out a few more topics real quick.

No - it is a small koala bear - but it has been called a kitty, a person, a bear and a what's that on your ear or did you know you have something on your ear?

And some people ask it in such a way that it sounds like they think I wasn't aware of it!

I need a couple of grilled cheese with the soup. I am starving. This day has dragged on so far.

We're having steaks grilled tonight for supper if anyone is interested. We'll have some "fake" taters and some mac and cheese. So if anyone needs corn on the cob, better let me know in time and I'll cook 'em up.

Well, made it back from Produce. We had 68 customers today. We got potatoes,
yogurt, yellow peppers and seedless grapes.

Lunch today: grilled cheese sandwiches with beef vegetable soup; chilli w/
PB sandwiches or tuna salad sandwiches; (The chili is medium hot today.)

Mookie: tell BC that if he doesn't come in and say "Hello" to everyone, I'm
going to be very upset with him. Haven't seen him in here in at least a month,
if I'm remembering correctly!!

Good Morning All,

Well, 'Tis the last full day of work before I head out for Yellowstone NP. Sigh...this is always such a hard day. Keeping the mind from wandering too much is definately tough. Oh well...Can look forward to the shopping trip tonight to pick up a couple last minute bits here and there.

Went out yesterday to get another couple CF cards, and a smaller trail worthy backpack (my little one is about to go to backpack heaven, and I don't really need / want to carry every piece of equipment I own on the trail). Looked at a couple camera stores and did see anything I liked. Went to the Army / Navy Surplus store and found a nice pack from some Eastern European army that I liked very much for $30. All I had to do was steal a little padding from another camera bag, and Voila!

Meanwhile, I hope you can all dry out back east. Feel free to send back any of the excess moisture. That monster low that's brought the deluge to you all has really screwed up the jet stream and sent just about all the moisture we normally get in our wettest month way up north. Consequently we've had a bunch of high pressure building up, and by the end of the week Denver will be in the upper 80's (thank goodness I'll be out of town for that...not quite ready for the hot weather yet!). Just about every time I think we're starting to come out of this drought we get yanked back. At least the mountains got lots of snow this winter.

Well, must be off. Hope you all have a great day. I'll check in tomorrow before I'm outta here.

TTFN!

Brian - Vegas has time?

Tree - at least the fire danger will be down for awhile - just maybe not in your area.
Being in the forum has definitely sparked an interest in the weather channel. I check out states all over now that I know someone that lives in the area.

Joe - found enough crumbs to make a whole muffin!

Ah - a cuppa Joe and I am ready to go. (morning poetry!)

Had a nice experience last Friday afternoon. Driver picks me up from work about 2:30 and we go watch trains for about an hour before we go home.

Lady and middle school age son stopped by - said they saw us over there a lot and had a bet on. He thought we were there cuz we had a grandson that worked for the railroad and we would wait for him to go by so we could wave. Her curiosity got the better of her so she stopped to see if that was true. We laughed and told her the real reason we were there - the look on her face was "why would anyone sit and watch trains!" But she was very nice and we will wave to her the next time we see her. (even if she doesn't "understand".)

Counting down the days to Rochelle. Leave Friday afternoon and from there until the following Friday - where we are is anyone's guess (including us!) But I will try to absorb all of Rochelle so I can report when I get back for anyone not able to get there. Sounds like the rain will stop while we are there and will warm up a little.

If you decide at the last minute to go to Rochelle that weekend/week - look for someone that looks like her name should be Mookie and check all female left ears. I have a bear cuff on mine and while it isn't large - it is noticeable. At least I think it is. When I least expect it, someone comments on it. Always catches me off-guard - a real duh moment.
And don't stick your nose in some woman's ear and get your nose taken off.

Off to shake the crumbs out of the hammock.

Wow! Just as I left it last night. Coffee's on, donuts are under the glass cover on the counter (help yourself). Breakfast wraps are in the warmer.

Mutt.....................Philadelphia doesn't sit back and "try" to brezze (sp) our way through things when it comes to sports, we actuall play the game too the fullest. Just say it Philly is better than Cincy period. Last season (Football) the Eagles killed the Bengals.....ahemm................I was at that game too. [:D][^] hehehe

Chirs it is pretty interesting and cool that you went and did some abandon house hunting yesterday. I was out walking abandon ROWs looking for some things to possibly take home w/ me like some swich locks, signs, and other things. Well, unfortunitly I didn't find anything but a whole buch of slag, coal, and tracks that were still in place. Oh I did find a caboose when in, didn't find anything. I think I'm going to go Abandoned ROW way walking more often.

Mother's Day dinners yesterday.

If anyone does come in to eat, I've made some open-faced meatloaf sandwiches

to heat them up.

It was the FD dinner Saturday night (Mom's in AZ). But I'll take one of those sandwiches for supper.

And a Tip Top of the morning to you all,

Well, headed out to NE Colorado and found that the campground we were planning to stay in was quite full with a large group of some sort, so my cousin and I had to head to Jackson Lake SP (around 12 miles northwest of Fort Morgan). Unfortunately that meant that it was quite a drive back up to the Pawnee Buttes after we got the 5th wheel set up.

When we got to the buttes, I was a little disappointed that much of the National Grasslands area was closed to the public from March 1 - June 30 to keep nesting raptors happy. That would have been fine except for the fact that I never saw one raptor the whole time I was there (did hear a Red Tail that manged to get some Coyotes going, though).

Oh well, I was able to set up the tripod and get some nice "golden hour" shots of the Buttes themselves. Was also going to hang out for moonrise, but alas, the shot I had in mind required setup in one of the closed areas. So we just headed back to Jackson Lake (in retrospect, it wasn't too bad anyways. The haze on the horizon was a bit much for even a full moon, so it didn't appear until well over the horizon. I don't think I could've made a shot work).

Did go exploring a couple abandoned houses out on the plains. Got some pictures in the old, near ghost towns of Keota and Goodrich, too (both along abandoned rail lines). Haven't finished post-processing yet, but hope to get a chance on lunch.

Meanwhile, all looks well for the trip up to Yellowstone. Can't wait until Wednesday!

Well, I suppose I must go and get some work done so I can leave for that trip. Hope you all have a great week!

Chris

P.S. A belated "Happy Mother's Day" to all the moms on the forum!

Good morning, everyone! Sure looks like we were busy in here yesterday!

Joe, thank you for putting the coffee on, and making the juice. Had a little
trouble going to sleep last night (this morning, since it was about 2 when
I finally got into a deep sleep). I've only been "awake" for a half hour now,
but I've got breakfast going: turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & sausage
gravy, scrambled eggs, and there's some oatmeal and toast also, if any-
one wants that.

I hope all the mothers here had a great Mother's Day yesterday. Mookie,
Matt's carnations are really pretty, aren't they?

Morning everyone (it's morning where I am anyway).......

Happy (belated) mothers day to everyone, and thanks for all your thoughts and prayers for my mother. It sounds like she will be able to go home on Monday at the very earliest and continue her recovery from there, which is good news.

Weather continues to be cool and rainy here near the Mad City. I talked to my dad this weekend, he did manage to get all the corn in before the rain started, but we may have some holes in one field if this weather keeps up, the field is beginning to turn into a lake. I haven't listened to the weather radio lately (scanner's home is in the truck), but I'm guessing we have had nearly three inches of rain since last Tuesday. He was also telling me that he could be starting first crop hay as early as next weekend, but the following week was looking like a better proposition.

One other item of good news that I have heard over the weekend is that my aunt who lives out in CopCarSS's and Mudchicken's state (Aspen, CO if I remember correctly) will be visiting next weekend, which will be the first time I will have seen her in about two years. I hope she brings her new husband along, whom I have not met yet, I don't think I have even seen a picture of him!!

Sarah, I see that the Phillies are coming to Milwaukee to play three games with the Brewers, and the Brewers are doing pretty decent this year despite the young players. [}:)][}:)][}:)]

See everyone later this morning.

Was at the mall briefly today - not many Mom's getting their Mother's Day dinner at the food court, but a lot of folks dressed up, so they were either coming from or headed to said dinner. Still gotta call mine - but AZ is three hours behind EDT...

Speaking of dinner, our banquet went well - food was great, camaraderie was fantastic. Didn't get home until after midnight, which made the 8:00 tee time a little hard to take. So I started out tired, and now after 18 so-so holes of golf, I'm pooped!

Think I'll have breakfast for dinner tonight...
